AJIO Casual and Sports Shoes: 32 Pairs Under Rs. 1,000, September 2026

We read 125 shoe listings from AJIO's own search on 4 September 2026 — casual shoes, sneakers and sports shoes. RED TAPE alone is 34 of them, more than a quarter of the shelf, and it dominates the deep-discount end completely.

Set the two side by side. RED TAPE's median stated maximum retail price is Rs. 6,699 and its median selling price is Rs. 1,183 — a median badge of 82%. Puma's median stated MRP is Rs. 5,999, within Rs. 700 of RED TAPE's, and it sells at a median of Rs. 2,400 — a 60% badge. adidas: a median MRP of Rs. 5,599 selling at Rs. 2,300, 54% off.

Two shoes whose stated reference prices are within a few hundred rupees of each other, sold at half the money apart. We cannot verify whether any stated MRP on this shelf was ever a live selling price, we make no claim either way and no wrongdoing by AJIO or by any brand named is alleged or implied. What the numbers do show plainly is that on this aisle the badge percentage is a fact about the reference price, not about how much shoe you are getting for your money.

Not one of the 125 listings carries a star rating or a review count. That is not our scraper missing a field — we dumped the raw product keys from a live AJIO search response on 4 September 2026 and there is no rating field in the payload at all: no average rating, no rating count, no review count.

It is worth stating what that does and does not mean. It does not mean AJIO's shoes are unreviewed or that reviews are hidden — individual product pages may show something we did not read, and this describes the search and listing layer that a browsing shopper actually uses. What it means practically is that when you compare two pairs on an AJIO listing page, you have exactly two inputs: brand and price.

Across the 125 listings, prices run Rs. 320 to Rs. 13,599 at a median of Rs. 1,350 and a median 60% off. Sixty of the 125 — almost half the shelf — sit in the single band between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 2,000.

Thirty-two pairs are under Rs. 1,000. The cheapest is an aadi casual shoe at Rs. 320 and the second a Buda Jeans Co casual at Rs. 385, which also carries the deepest badge on the entire shelf at 89% off a stated Rs. 3,499. That band is essentially aadi, ASIAN, Buda Jeans Co, Styli, PROLIFIC and the cheapest RED TAPE pairs — six ASIAN listings run Rs. 689 to Rs. 999 at a median 46% off a stated Rs. 1,499, which is a more ordinary-looking set of numbers than most of this aisle.

Above Rs. 2,000 the shelf changes character. Twenty-one pairs sit between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 3,500, and they are almost entirely Puma and adidas; twelve are above Rs. 3,500, mostly Under Armour running shoes and one New Balance training shoe at Rs. 13,599, which is the dearest listing we found and carries the shallowest badge on the shelf at 20%.

If you came for a name you recognise, the numbers are more sober than the shelf's headline percentages suggest. Puma's 15 listings run Rs. 1,305 to Rs. 4,549: a Princeps sneaker at Rs. 1,305 from a stated Rs. 4,499, a 9-T at Rs. 1,800 from Rs. 5,999, a Smash V2 L at Rs. 2,100 from Rs. 4,999.

adidas's seven listings run Rs. 2,100 to Rs. 4,619 — a Lightrun Flare 2 at Rs. 2,100, a Runsolid 2 at Rs. 2,296, a Grand Court 3.0 at Rs. 3,840 from a stated Rs. 7,999. Under Armour's four are the priciest running shoes on the shelf at Rs. 4,159 to Rs. 6,359, badged a median 47%.

Those are the two brands whose reference prices we can most easily sanity-check against their own stores, and their badges land in the 45–70% range rather than the 80–89% range. That is the honest ceiling for a sports brand on this aisle. When you see a shoe here at 85% off, the useful question is not whether the discount is computed correctly — it will be — but what the Rs. 6,699 it is computed from represents.

Compare rupees, not percentages. The clearest number on this page is that RED TAPE and Puma carry median stated MRPs within Rs. 700 of each other and sell at Rs. 1,183 and Rs. 2,400. Whichever you prefer, the badge will not tell you which is the better buy.

You have brand and price, and nothing else. No listing on this shelf shows a rating or a review count, so the sorting and filtering habits that work on sites with ratings do not work here. Look the exact model up somewhere that has reviews before committing.

Know the bands. Under Rs. 1,000 is aadi, ASIAN, Buda Jeans Co and Styli; Rs. 1,000–2,000 is where most of the shelf and most of RED TAPE lives; Rs. 2,000–3,500 is Puma and adidas territory. Set your budget against the band rather than against a percentage.
