We refused to treat a 100x MRP as a discount
One listing here displays a maximum retail price of Rs. 1,40,800 on a soundbar selling at Rs. 1,408 — exactly one hundred times the price, to the rupee. That is the signature of a misplaced decimal point in listing data, not a real list price for a 25 watt soundbar, and the 99 percent badge Amazon calculates from it is arithmetic performed on a typo. We seated the product because it is real, cheap and carries 1,010 ratings, and we struck the badge out of the reasoning entirely. Any percentage you see in this category that implies a four-figure saving on a four-figure product deserves the same test: divide the MRP by the price and see whether the answer is a round 100.
