Five face serums from this Nykaa read, including both sizes of the Minimalist Vitamin C serum this page compares, in their own listing photographs on a colour-block banner

We read 37 face serum and night cream listings from Nykaa's own search data on 27 October 2026, logged out, from India. Two brands appeared twice with the same serum in two different sizes.

Nykaa counted the reviews one way for one pair and the opposite way for the other, and the difference is which page the sizes live on. Here is both pairs, the per-millilitre maths, and what the rest of the shelf looks like.

📅 Update log:
27 Oct 2026: first published. Every selling price, stated MRP, badge, star average and rating count on this page was read from nykaa.com's own search data on 27 October 2026, logged out, from India, in a single read. Bottle volumes were read off the cartons in each brand's own listing photography, because Nykaa's search payload carries no size field. Nothing was bought, opened or applied.

We read 37 face serum and night cream listings from Nykaa's own search data on 27 October 2026, logged out, from India, with nothing bought. Two of the brands turned up twice with what is, by the listing's own name, the same serum in two sizes.

Nykaa counted the reviews differently on each pair. That turns out to be a rule you can see, and it changes what a rating count on this site actually means.

Minimalist: two sizes, two prices, one rating pool

SizePriceStated MRPBadgePer mlRatingsStars
20 mlRs. 477Rs. 57517%Rs. 23.85105,5424.3
10 mlRs. 284Rs. 2995%Rs. 28.40105,5424.3

Both of these listings sit on the same Nykaa product-page slug — they are two SKU ids (15022070 and 15020676) under one page. Both show exactly 105,542 ratings and exactly 4.3 stars.

That is a single pool displayed twice, not two products that happened to attract the same number of reviews. Whatever those 105,542 people reviewed, it was not specifically the 10 ml bottle or specifically the 20 ml one.

Plum: two sizes, two prices, two separate pools

SizePriceStated MRPBadgePer mlRatingsStars
30 mlRs. 560Rs. 65915%Rs. 18.67148,5334.4
10 mlRs. 212Rs. 24915%Rs. 21.207,7944.2

These two sit on different product-page slugs (ids 2684737 and 11943596), and Nykaa gives them separate rating pools: 148,533 against 7,794, and 4.4 stars against 4.2.

So the scope of a Nykaa rating count follows the product page, not the product. Put the same serum on one page in two sizes and the reviews merge; split it across two pages and they do not. A shopper comparing Plum's 10 ml (7,794 ratings) against Minimalist's 10 ml (105,542) is not comparing like with like at all — one figure covers a single size, the other covers two.

Where the sizes came from: neither listing name states a volume. The 20 ml, 10 ml and 30 ml figures above are printed on the cartons in each brand's own product photography on the listing, and were read off those images. Nykaa's search payload does not carry a size field.

In both pairs, the small bottle costs more per millilitre

  • Minimalist: Rs. 23.85 a millilitre for the 20 ml, Rs. 28.40 for the 10 ml. The small bottle is 19% dearer per millilitre.
  • Plum: Rs. 18.67 a millilitre for the 30 ml, Rs. 21.20 for the 10 ml. The small bottle is 14% dearer per millilitre.
  • The badge points the right way on one pair and nowhere on the other. Minimalist badges its 20 ml at 17% and its 10 ml at 5%, so the better-value bottle also carries the bigger percentage. Plum badges both of its at exactly 15% — identical percentages on bottles 14% apart in unit price.
  • Neither gap is huge in rupees. On a 10 ml bottle, 19% of Rs. 284 is about Rs. 45. The point is that the information you would need to see it is not on the tile.
The practical version: on this shelf, find the millilitres on the carton in the product photo and divide. The badge, the star average and the rating count will each mislead you about which of two sizes of the same serum is better value.

Every one of the 37 listings carries a star rating, and they span seven values from 4.0 to 4.8. Thirty-six of the 37 sit between 4.0 and 4.5. As a way of telling two serums apart, that is close to useless.

The badges are shallow: a median of 15% and a ceiling of 56%. Dot & Key's three listings are badged exactly 14% each; Minimalist's four run 5% to 17%. The deepest discount on the shelf, 56%, is on a Rs. 198 night cream — the second-cheapest listing in the read, behind a Rs. 180 serum badged 20%.

How to read a Nykaa rating count

  • A big number may be covering several sizes. If a brand lists two sizes under one page, both show the combined pool.
  • A small number does not mean a worse product. Plum's 10 ml shows 7,794 ratings against its own 30 ml's 148,533 — same serum, different page.
  • The star average barely moves either way. Across all 37 listings in this read there are seven distinct star values, and 36 of them fall in a half-star band.
  • Check the carton in the photo for a volume. It is the only number on these tiles that reliably separates one listing from another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do two Nykaa listings for the same serum show the same number of reviews?
Because they are two SKUs on one product page. Minimalist's 10% Vitamin C serum appears in this read as a 20 ml at Rs. 477 and a 10 ml at Rs. 284, both on the same Nykaa page slug, and both display exactly 105,542 ratings and 4.3 stars. That is one pool shown twice. Where a brand splits its sizes across two separate pages, the pools stay separate - Plum's 30 ml and 10 ml niacinamide serums show 148,533 and 7,794 ratings.
Is the bigger bottle cheaper per ml on Nykaa?
In both pairs in this read, yes. Minimalist's 20 ml works out at Rs. 23.85 a millilitre against Rs. 28.40 for the 10 ml - the small bottle is 19% dearer per ml. Plum's 30 ml is Rs. 18.67 a millilitre against Rs. 21.20 for its 10 ml, 14% dearer. Neither listing name states a volume; the sizes are printed on the cartons in each brand's own listing photography.
How much does a face serum cost on Nykaa in October 2026?
Across 37 face serum and night cream listings read on 27 October 2026, prices ran Rs. 180 to Rs. 4,275 with a median of Rs. 520. The discount badge ran 5% to 56% with a median of 15% - shallow by the standards of the apparel shelves. The deepest discount in the read, 56%, was on a Rs. 198 night cream - the second-cheapest listing, behind a Rs. 180 serum badged 20%.
Can I trust Nykaa's star ratings on skincare?
They are real published figures, but they do not discriminate. All 37 listings in this read carry a star rating, spanning only seven values from 4.0 to 4.8, and 36 of the 37 fall between 4.0 and 4.5. On top of that, a star average attached to a multi-size page is computed over the combined pool. We report the published figures and rank nothing on them, and nothing on this page is a judgement about whether any serum works.
Does a bigger discount badge mean better value on Nykaa skincare?
Not reliably. Plum badges both its 30 ml and its 10 ml niacinamide serum at exactly 15%, although the 10 ml costs 14% more per millilitre. Minimalist happens to point the right way - 17% on the 20 ml, 5% on the 10 ml - but that is the stated MRPs happening to line up, not the badge measuring unit value. Divide the price by the millilitres on the carton instead.
Prices & codes last verified: October 27, 2026
Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count on this page was read from nykaa.com's own search data on 27 October 2026, logged out, from India, in a single read. Nothing was purchased, delivered, opened, applied or tested, and no claim is made about what any serum or night cream does to skin, about ingredient concentrations beyond what the listing name states, about suitability for any skin type or condition, or about any brand's efficacy claims. "Brightening", "Anti-Ageing", "Fades Acne Marks" and "Clinically Tested" are the listings' and brands' own words, reproduced and not verified; nothing here is medical or dermatological advice. Bottle volumes are read off the cartons shown in each brand's own listing photography, because Nykaa's search payload carries no size field; per-millilitre figures are computed from those volumes and the published prices. The 37 listings were reached by Nykaa's own search and are not a census of what Nykaa sells - results vary by query, ranking, login state, pin code and time of day. The observation that two listings share a product-page slug and a rating count, while another pair does not, is a description of what Nykaa's own data returned on this date. Nothing here asserts that any rating count, star average or stated MRP is false or improper, and nothing alleges wrongdoing by Nykaa or by any brand named; pooling reviews across the sizes on one product page is an ordinary and common e-commerce practice, reported here as published fact. Prices, listings and review counts change without notice - check the live listing before buying. Zoutons may earn a commission on purchases made through links on this page; this does not affect what is written above.
