21 Nykaa Picks, and What 7.5 Million Ratings Actually Counts

Nykaa July 2026 Zoutons Picks collage — Clinique Moisture Surge hydrator, Pond's Super Light gel moisturiser, Minimalist SPF 50 sunscreen and The Ordinary Niacinamide serum
Zoutons Picks — Nykaa, July 2026

Two different sheet masks show the same 7,520,141 ratings. We found three such pairs in 122 listings — so the counts are pooled at range level, and a seven-figure badge is not evidence about a bottle.

Prices & codes last verified July 27, 2026

The short of it Nykaa, read across 122 listings on July 27 — and the rating counts are pooled, not per product. Best value on the page: SPF 50 PA++++ at Rs. 399, at zero discount. Deepest cut: 45% off a Rs. 542 gel moisturiser. Safest active to start with: Rs. 600 niacinamide. Most-rated single product: Cetaphil cleanser at Rs. 413.

One Nykaa sheet mask shows 7,520,141 ratings. A completely different sheet mask, in a different variant at a different price, shows 7,520,141 ratings. Two products cannot arrive at byte-identical seven-figure counts by coincidence, and once we started looking we found the same thing twice more in a sample of 122 in-stock listings: a Clinique hydrator displaying 81,847 ratings in both of its jar sizes, and an anti-acne face wash displaying 35,172 in both of its tubes. What that means is that Nykaa pools review counts at range level rather than measuring them per product. Nothing sinister is necessarily going on — aggregating reviews across pack sizes of the same formulation is common practice and arguably sensible — but the effect on a shopper is real, because a seven-figure count looks exactly like evidence about the specific bottle in front of you, and it is not. It is evidence that a range sells well, which is a different and much weaker claim. Once you accept that, the useful way to read a Nykaa listing changes. The things worth ranking on are the ones you can actually check on the label: the PA rating, which measures UVA protection and where PA++++ is the top grade, and which matters in a cloudy Mumbai August because UVA passes straight through cloud and glass; the stated percentage on an active, because 10% niacinamide is 10% niacinamide whoever makes it; and the format, because an aqua-gel sunscreen and a thick occlusive cream are not competing products at all, they are for different faces. That is how this page is sorted. Six of the 21 picks below carry no discount whatsoever, which is normal in this category and not a reason to skip them. If you are cross-shopping, our Amazon versus Nykaa versus Flipkart comparison covers where these same products sit elsewhere.

Every price below was pulled from Nykaa on July 27, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Nykaa coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

“Two different sheet masks, both showing 7,520,141 ratings. That number is describing a range, not a bottle — and it looks exactly like the opposite.” Zoutons Editorial Team

Where a real saving comes from on Nykaa

Six of the picks on this page carry no discount at all and several more sit under 15%, so the levers that move price are worth more here than the badges are. First, platform codes and first-order concessions stack on top of listed prices and apply to the zero-discount items too, which is where they are worth most — our Nykaa coupons page is re-verified daily and the first-time-user terms are the single largest one-off saving available. Second, this category runs genuine event pricing rather than permanent discounting, so the birthday sale and similar events are where the deep cuts actually happen and are worth waiting for on anything non-urgent. Third, cross-shop the mass-market brands specifically — Pond's, Cetaphil and Simple are sold across every platform at different depths, and our three-way price comparison and Nykaa savings guide are the quickest way to check before committing.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: shade and fragrance variants of products already on this list, which share both a photograph and a pooled rating count and so add nothing to a decision. Combo listings whose components we could not price individually, since a bundle we cannot decompose is one we cannot tell you is fairly priced. Products out of stock at the time of reading. Anything making a claim we could not evaluate from a listing — several serums here promise outcomes that would require clinical data to assess, and we would rather leave them out than repeat a claim we cannot check. Makeup and haircare beyond the few products that came up in the same listings, which belong on their own pages. And the premium end above Rs. 4,000, where the argument is about brand rather than formulation.

What we look for

We checked whether the rating counts were per product

They are not, at least not always. Across 122 unique in-stock listings we found three pairs carrying byte-identical rating counts — two different sheet masks both showing 7,520,141, one Clinique hydrator in two jar sizes both showing 81,847, and one face wash in two sizes both showing 35,172. Those counts describe a range rather than a bottle, which makes them a useful signal of how well a line sells and no use at all for choosing between two products in it.

Specifications over social proof, wherever one exists

Sunscreen and serums both carry checkable numbers on the label — the PA rating for UVA protection, the percentage for an active — and those beat any rating count as a basis for choosing. Where a specification exists we have explained what it means and why it matters, including that PA++++ is the highest UVA grade and that UVA passes through cloud and glass.

Risk and irritation stated on every active

Glycolic acid at 7% increases sun sensitivity and needs daily sunscreen alongside it. Salicylic acid dries and irritates a meaningful minority of people. Vitamin C oxidises and stops working once it turns orange. Fragrance is the most common cause of contact irritation in skincare. Where a pick carries a caution, it is in the entry rather than a footnote, and none of it replaces a dermatologist.

Discounts reported, then mostly set aside

Six of these 21 products carried no discount at all and several more sat under 15%, so a page ranked by percentage would have been misleading. We printed every figure and made recommendations on concentration, format and skin type instead. Prices, ratings and rating counts read from Nykaa's own listing data on July 27, 2026.

FAQs

Why do two different Nykaa products show the same number of ratings?

Because the counts are pooled at range level rather than measured per product. In our sample of 122 in-stock listings on July 27 we found three pairs with byte-identical counts: two different sheet masks both showing 7,520,141, one Clinique hydrator showing 81,847 in both jar sizes, and one face wash showing 35,172 in both tubes. Aggregating reviews across variants of one formulation is common practice, but it means a large count tells you a range sells well rather than anything about the specific bottle.

What is the best sunscreen to buy on Nykaa right now?

On specification, the Minimalist SPF 50 PA++++ at Rs. 399, which is the cheapest product here carrying the highest UVA grade and is not discounted at all. SPF measures UVB protection while the PA rating measures UVA — the wavelength that drives photoageing and passes through cloud and glass, so it matters in a monsoon too. Beyond confirming PA++++, choose on texture: an aqua-gel or matte finish is what makes people actually apply it daily, and a sunscreen you skip protects nothing.

Is a 10% niacinamide serum better than a cheaper one?

Not necessarily, and this page has a direct comparison. The Ordinary's niacinamide is Rs. 600 at no discount and The Derma Co's is Rs. 509 at 40% off, both at 10% concentration — so on the active itself there is nothing to choose between them. What differs is everything else in the formulation: supporting ingredients, texture, fragrance and preservatives, none of which a listing details and all of which determine whether it irritates your skin. If one has worked for you before, stay with it.

Should I buy the bigger size to save money on Nykaa?

Check first, because it is not automatic. The Clinique hydrator on this page is 21% off in the small jar and only 10% off in the large one, which means the usual bulk logic may not hold — you have to compare price per millilitre using the fill weights on the product page. With actives there is a second reason to start small: salicylic acid, glycolic acid and vitamin C all irritate a meaningful minority of people, and finding that out on a Rs. 224 tube beats finding it out on a Rs. 449 one.

Which Nykaa moisturiser should I buy?

It depends entirely on your skin, which is why this page ends with two opposites. For oily skin in a humid August, an oil-free gel with hyaluronic acid — the Pond's at Rs. 542, which is also the deepest discount on this page — hydrates without the occlusive oils that feel heavy and can worsen congestion. For genuinely dry or eczema-prone skin, a thick occlusive cream like the Cetaphil at Rs. 836 seals water in, which is exactly what that skin needs and exactly wrong for oily skin.

More Nykaa coverage on Zoutons

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, MRP, discount, rating and rating count was read from Nykaa's own listing data on July 27, 2026 and can change without notice. The finding that rating counts are pooled is ours, based on three pairs of listings in our 122-product sample that displayed byte-identical counts across different pack sizes and, in one case, across two different products; it describes what we observed on that date and is our interpretation rather than a statement from Nykaa. Rating pills on this page therefore show Nykaa customer ratings with pooled counts, labelled as such, and nothing here is scored by us. Nothing in this article is medical or dermatological advice. Actives carry real risks: glycolic acid increases sun sensitivity and requires daily sunscreen, salicylic acid dries and irritates some skin, and any new active should be patch-tested and introduced slowly. If you have a skin condition, are pregnant, or are using prescription treatments, speak to a dermatologist before changing a routine. We only recommend products we would buy at these prices.
