Sweater Price AJIO vs Myntra September 2026: Rs. 200 Upwards

We read both knitwear shelves on 23 September 2026 - 66 sweater and cardigan listings on Myntra, 145 on AJIO - and exactly one brand appears on both: Marks & Spencer.

It declares the identical maximum retail price in each place. On Myntra a Marks & Spencer textured crew neck jumper states Rs. 2,499 and sells at Rs. 1,374, a 45 per cent badge. On AJIO four Marks & Spencer knits state the same Rs. 2,499 and sell at Rs. 1,624, a 35 per cent badge. One declared value, Rs. 250 between the two checkouts.

These are not the same garment - the Myntra listing is a crew neck jumper, the AJIO ones a crew neck pullover and three cardigans - so this is not a like-for-like price gap and we do not present it as one. What it does show is that the MRP is a brand-level number that travels between retailers unchanged, while the selling price and therefore the discount badge are set by each shop.

This is the difference that decides the page. Not one AJIO sweater or cardigan listing in our read carries a star average or a rating count. Myntra publishes both on 47 of its 66, at a median count of 370.

And the counts at the top are enormous. A DressBerry blue ribbed pullover at Rs. 559 carries 4.2 from 29,779 ratings, and a Roadster women's red sweater at Rs. 519 carries 4.3 from 22,705. Those are pooled numbers - Myntra shows one feedback pool across the colourways and sizes of a product - so they describe a product family rather than the exact colour in the photograph. They are still tens of thousands of opinions more than AJIO offers on anything.

On this read six pairs of Myntra listings share a rating count exactly, which is the tell for a pooled pool: two listings at Rs. 493 both show 4.2 from 1,206, and four listings share a count of 78. Read the number as being about the product, not the listing.

Myntra's sweater pages are a narrow, cheap, well-rated band: 58 of its 66 listings are under Rs. 1,000 and not one reaches Rs. 1,500. Roadster, Myntra's own label, holds 20 of the 66, and DressBerry, HERE&NOW, Mast & Harbour and Kook N Keech - also house labels - hold most of the rest. The only outside names on it are H&M and Marks & Spencer.

AJIO's shelf is a full ladder: Rs. 125 at the bottom and Rs. 5,498 at the top, with 13 listings at Rs. 2,000 or more including four Tommy Hilfiger sweaters, a Superdry half-zip and a Calvin Klein Jeans mock neck. Its cheap end is partly kidswear - seven boys' and girls' sweaters from Rs. 125 - so we also computed an adult-only median, which is Rs. 860 against the full-shelf Rs. 831.

The practical read: if you want a sub-Rs. 1,000 sweater with real feedback behind it, Myntra is the shelf. If you want a branded wool or cotton knit above Rs. 2,000, Myntra's sweater pages in this read did not stock one and AJIO did.

Both retailers compute the discount from an MRP the seller declares, and on both shelves that number ranges wildly. Myntra's stated MRPs run from 1.00 to 5.38 times the selling price; AJIO's from 1.03 to 7.14. The median is 2.77x on Myntra and 2.56x on AJIO.

The extremes are instructive. A MISS SELFRIDGE cardigan on AJIO sells at Rs. 590 against a declared Rs. 4,213 - an 86 per cent badge - while a V-MART pullover at Rs. 413 declares Rs. 449 and shows 8 per cent. On Myntra, two H&M listings at Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,499 declare their own selling price as the MRP and show no discount at all, while a Thomas Scott cotton sweater at Rs. 1,108 declares Rs. 5,799 and shows 81 per cent.

Stating a high MRP is legal and ordinary across Indian retail and we allege nothing by reporting it. The practical consequence is simply that a badge cannot rank two sweaters, on one shelf or across two.
