A razor handle costs a few hundred rupees once. The cartridges cost whatever they cost, for as long as you own it. We read 80 Amazon razor listings on 22 September 2026, took the 39 that state a cartridge or blade count in their titles, and divided.
One cartridge costs between Rs. 8.48 and Rs. 400.00 on this shelf. Gillette occupies both ends of that range by itself. And because a handle only accepts its own cartridge shape, the razor you pick today sets which end of the range you pay at for years - which makes the refill price, not the razor price, the number worth checking first.

We read Amazon's razor shelf on 22 September 2026 - 80 unique listings, of which 39 state a cartridge, blade or pack count in their own titles. Divide each price by that count and the range is severe: Rs. 8.48 for one DORCO disposable razor in a pack of 25, Rs. 400.00 for one Gillette Labs cartridge in a pack of four. That is 47 times, on one search page.
What makes this different from most unit-price arithmetic is that you usually cannot move between the ends of it. A cartridge razor is a commitment to one cartridge shape. A Mach3 handle takes Mach3 cartridges - Rs. 119.50 to Rs. 162.50 each in this read - and will not take a Fusion 5 cartridge at Rs. 258.33, a LetsShave Pro 4 at Rs. 119.75 or a Bombay Shaving Sensiflo at Rs. 254.50. The handle is cheap and the decision it locks in is not.
So the question worth answering before you buy a razor is not what the razor costs. It is what its cartridges cost, how many you get, and whether the pack size you can find is the cheap one.

Within Gillette alone the rate spans 33 times
This is not a story about premium brands versus cheap ones. Gillette occupies both ends of this shelf. Its Guard razor, sold with 12 blades at Rs. 144, works out at Rs. 12.00 a blade - the cheapest cartridge rate in the entire read that is not a disposable. Its Labs cartridges are Rs. 400.00 each in a pack of four at Rs. 1,600.
In between, the same brand sells Vector Plus at Rs. 39.17, Mach3 at Rs. 119.50 to Rs. 192.50 depending on the pack, Mach3 Turbo at Rs. 143.33 to Rs. 157.00 and Fusion 5 at Rs. 258.33 to Rs. 292.00. Thirty-three times separates the cheapest Gillette blade from the dearest, and the brand name on the packet is identical.
The blade counts differ - Guard is a single-blade cartridge, Mach3 has three, Fusion 5 has five, Labs adds a heated bar on its handle - so these are genuinely different products and we are not suggesting otherwise. What we are saying is that 'buy Gillette' settles nothing about what you will spend per shave, and the shelf gives you no way to see that without dividing.
₹ The number that matters is the refill, not the razor. A handle is bought once. Cartridges are bought forever. At the rates in this read, a person replacing a cartridge every fortnight spends about Rs. 312 a year on Gillette Guard blades, Rs. 3,107 on Mach3 10-packs and Rs. 6,717 on Fusion 5 - assuming a fortnightly change, which is our own assumption and not any manufacturer's recommendation.
The bigger pack is cheaper - except when it is not
Gillette Mach3 behaves the way multipacks are supposed to. Two cartridges cost Rs. 325, or Rs. 162.50 each; ten cost Rs. 1,195, or Rs. 119.50 each. Buying the small pack costs you 36 per cent more per cartridge.
Gillette Mach3 Turbo does the opposite. Six cartridges are Rs. 860, or Rs. 143.33 each. Ten are Rs. 1,570, or Rs. 157.00 each - the bigger pack is 10 per cent dearer per cartridge. Both listings display the identical rating figure, 4.4 from 13,795, which is Amazon pooling feedback across pack sizes of one product rather than two independent samples.
Fusion 5 is flat to slightly inverted: Rs. 258.33 a cartridge in a 6-pack at Rs. 1,550, Rs. 260.00 in a 10-pack at Rs. 2,600 - and a second 6-pack listing at Rs. 1,630, or Rs. 271.67 a cartridge, which is the same product in the same quantity for Rs. 80 more. Bombay Shaving Company is the one brand here that rewards size consistently, from Rs. 62.25 a cartridge in a 4-pack down to Rs. 49.92 in its twelve-cartridge annual pack.

Disposables are cheaper per shave and a different product
The cheapest rates in this read belong to disposable razors, where the handle is thrown away with the blade. DORCO's pack of 25 at Rs. 212 is Rs. 8.48 a razor; its 12-pack with a dispenser is Rs. 12.75 each; LetsShave's Pro 2 Plus 10-pack at Rs. 168 is Rs. 16.80 each with 4.0 from 3,929 ratings, the largest sample among the disposables here.
These are not comparable to a cartridge system on anything except money. A twin-blade disposable and a five-blade cartridge on a weighted handle are different shaves, and we have not shaved with any of these. What the arithmetic shows is the size of the gap: the cheapest disposable is Rs. 8.48 against Rs. 400.00 for the dearest cartridge, which is the 47x that opens this page.
One listing in this group is worth flagging for the opposite reason. A Presto pack described as '12 in 1' sells at Rs. 180 and our parse reads one razor in the title, so we show it at Rs. 180.00 - if the pack does contain twelve, the true rate is Rs. 15.00. We cannot tell from the listing text and we are not going to guess, so treat that one figure as unresolved.

Twenty-nine listings in this read are refill cartridges or razors sold with a stated blade count. The table below is all of them, ordered by what one cartridge costs.
Two things are worth watching as you read down it. The first is that rating counts do not rise with price - the Mach3 2-pack at Rs. 162.50 a cartridge carries 34,800 ratings, the largest sample on the shelf, while the Gillette Labs cartridges at Rs. 400.00 carry 596. The second is that several listings share one count across pack sizes, so treat a large number as feedback on the product line rather than on the pack in front of you.
We quote no discount percentages on this page. Several listings here display the per-cartridge rate in the struck-through MRP slot - the Mach3 10-pack at Rs. 1,195 shows 'Rs. 119', which is its Rs. 119.50 unit rate, and the Fusion 5 10-pack at Rs. 2,600 shows 'Rs. 260' - so any percentage calculated from that figure would be arithmetic over two unrelated numbers.

How we counted, and what we could not count
Cartridge counts are read from each listing's own title - 'Pack of 8', '10 Cartridges', '1 Razor With 12 Blades'. Where a listing states a bonus quantity we counted the stated cartridge figure only: the Gillette Presto 'Pack of 8 + 4' is counted as eight, so its true rate may be lower than the Rs. 25.00 we show. Of the 80 listings returned, 41 state no count we could read - handles sold alone, shaving creams and kits bundled with unspecified blades - and none of those is quoted here. Per-cartridge figures are our own division of the selling price by the stated count and assume every cartridge in a pack is identical, which the listings state but we have not verified by opening one.
Buy the system before the razor, and check the pack size every time
If you want the cheapest real shave, Gillette Guard at Rs. 144 for a razor plus twelve blades is Rs. 12.00 a blade with 4.3 from 3,429 ratings - the cheapest non-disposable rate in this read by a factor of two. It is a single-blade cartridge and a much simpler product than a Mach3, which is exactly why it costs what it does.
If you already own a Mach3 handle, buy the ten-pack at Rs. 1,195 (Rs. 119.50 a cartridge, 4.4 from 25,583) and never the pack of two at Rs. 162.50 each. If you own a Mach3 Turbo handle, buy the six-pack at Rs. 860, because its ten-pack is dearer per cartridge. If you are starting fresh and want more than one blade, Bombay Shaving Company's Sensi Smart 3 twelve-cartridge pack at Rs. 599 is Rs. 49.92 each, less than half the cheapest Mach3 rate here.
What we would not do is buy a handle without pricing its refills first, or assume the larger pack is the better deal - on this shelf it is cheaper for Mach3 and Bombay Shaving, dearer for Mach3 Turbo, and effectively identical for Fusion 5. Nothing here was shaved with; every judgement on this page is about money.
