Beauty products carry a printed MRP, and it shows in every number on this page. Eighteen picks from 33 Nykaa listings.
We read 33 Nykaa listings on August 9, 2026 and seated 18. Every badge on this page falls between 5 and 40 per cent, median 20 - and the smallest is a three-rupee cut on a Rs. 69 lip liner. Cosmetics carry a printed MRP on the pack in India, which leaves little room for the invented claims this series finds elsewhere. What this shelf has instead is evidence: a Nykaa lipstick with 4,283,115 ratings and a Maybelline with 4,119,059, both pooled across shades - against two listings here carrying 130 votes and 10.
Every price below was pulled from Nykaa on August 9, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Nykaa coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

First: expect small discounts and be suspicious of large ones, because a printed MRP leaves little room - nothing on this shelf passed 40 per cent, where an apparel shelf routinely runs past 70. Second: read the rating count and remember it is pooled across shades, so it describes a formula rather than a colour. Third: buy the concentration with evidence behind it rather than the highest number on the box - 5 per cent niacinamide, 10 per cent vitamin C. Fourth: buy vitamin C in small bottles and use them quickly, because it oxidises with light and air. Fifth: check for the shade-match and returns policy before ordering colour, which is the one thing four million ratings cannot help with - the same limitation this series noted across Nykaa's wider shelf.

This is the best-documented shelf this series has read. A Rs. 66 lip liner carries 305,102 ratings, a Nykaa lipstick 4,283,115 and a Maybelline 4,119,059. Against that, two listings here carry 130 and 10 ratings, and the 10-rating one holds the highest score on the page at 5.0 - which is exactly why we show a rating pill only above a hundred ratings and print the count on every card. Where a sample is thin on a shelf this deep, that is a signal about the product's age, and we say so.
A single Nykaa or Maybelline lipstick listing covers dozens of colours, and the rating count shown is the total across all of them. So 4,283,115 ratings is a verdict on a formula, not on the shade you will order. That still makes it far stronger evidence than anything on a typical marketplace shelf, but it is not the same claim as four million people rating one product, and printing the number without the caveat would be misleading.
Every badge on this page sits between 5 and 40 per cent, with a median of 20. Cosmetics sold in India carry a maximum retail price printed on the pack under packaging rules, which leaves far less room for the invented claims this series routinely finds elsewhere - a saree shelf we read the same week ran from 65 to 81 per cent off. A small badge on this page is not a worse deal; it is what a discount looks like when the number it is taken from is a real one.
Niacinamide at 5 per cent, vitamin C at 10, alpha arbutin at 2, snail mucin at 96 - these are the brands' own stated figures and we have not tested any of them. Where we describe what an ingredient does we are reporting general category understanding: that 5 per cent niacinamide is the concentration with most support behind it, that vitamin C oxidises with light and air so bottles should be small and used quickly, that centella soothes rather than treats, and that a pigmentation active does nothing without sunscreen alongside it. None of that is a medical claim.
Because cosmetics sold in India carry a maximum retail price printed on the pack under packaging rules, so there is far less room to invent the number a discount is taken from. In our August 9, 2026 read of 33 Nykaa listings, every badge among the 18 we seated fell between 5 and 40 per cent, with a median of 20 - the smallest being a three-rupee cut on a Rs. 69 lip liner. An AJIO saree shelf we read the same week ran from 65 to 81 per cent off. A small badge here is a sign the claim behind it is real.
Largely yes, with one caveat that matters. Nykaa pools ratings across every shade or variant of a listing, so the 4,283,115 ratings on a Nykaa So Creme lipstick and the 4,119,059 on a Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink are verdicts on a formula rather than on the specific colour you order. Read that way they are still far stronger evidence than anything on a typical marketplace shelf. Shade suitability is the one thing those numbers cannot tell you, and it is the most common reason beauty purchases disappoint.
On this page, the Minimalist Niacinamide 05% at Rs. 539, rated 4.4 by 35,902 people. Five per cent is the niacinamide concentration with the most support behind it for oil control and barrier repair, and the higher-strength versions sold elsewhere are likelier to irritate than to work harder. Two other serums sell at exactly the same Rs. 539 - a Hyphen with 1,366 ratings and a Chemist at Play vitamin C with 5,506 - so the money is identical and the evidence is not. If your skin is currently irritated, the SKIN1004 centella at Rs. 799 is the calming option.
Sometimes, and this page shows the trade clearly. The Face Shop's niacinamide serum is Rs. 1,079 against Minimalist's Rs. 539 for the same headline active, with a sample eleven times smaller. What the premium buys is an imported formulation and a more elaborate base, plus duty and shipping. Where Korean products earn their price is in categories domestic brands do less well: the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Essence at Rs. 1,118 carries the best score on any well-sampled listing here, 4.5 from 63,904 ratings.
Less time than most people assume. Vitamin C in its active form oxidises on contact with light and air, which is why it comes in dark or opaque bottles and why a serum that has turned orange or brown has already lost potency. As a general rule, buy the smaller size and plan to finish it within a few months of opening rather than keeping it for a year. On this page the vitamin C listings run from a Chemist at Play 10% at Rs. 539 to a Garnier at Rs. 786. None of this is medical advice.
