Five distribution channels, five median discounts: 40, 35, 16, 15 and 10 per cent. Twenty-four picks from 50 Nykaa listings.
We read 50 Nykaa shampoo, face wash and lipstick listings on August 8, 2026, and every one publishes a rating and a review count - 18.2 million votes in total. Sorted by how the brand reaches India, the discounts fall into five tiers: the retailer's own labels cut 40 per cent, supermarket brands 35, Indian actives brands 16, salon lines 15 and imported clinical brands 10. Two cleansers here both score 4.5 with six-figure samples; one is 40 per cent off and the other 11. The badge is describing the channel, not the bottle.
Every price below was pulled from Nykaa on August 8, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Nykaa coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

First: work out which tier a product belongs to before judging its badge - 10 per cent off an imported clinical brand is the normal price of that shelf, and 40 per cent off a supermarket shampoo is not a windfall either. Second: never wait for a pharmacy brand to go on sale; the eight imported clinical listings here sit flat at a 10 per cent median regardless of price. Third: read the rating count before the score, because every product on this page scores between 4.1 and 4.5 and only the sample separates them - one Rs. 1,280 bottle carries 86 votes while a Rs. 66 liner carries 304,814. Fourth: when two products state the same active, compare the price and the evidence rather than assuming equivalence, since concentration is one variable among several and no listing here publishes a trial. Fifth: buy the combo rather than the single bottle where the maths works - the salon combo on this page is 15 per cent off while its own shampoo alone is 10 - the same habit that pays off when sixteen million votes land inside a seven-tenths band or when a skincare brand runs no sale at all.

Every listing in this read was sorted by distribution channel - the retailer's own labels, mass-market FMCG, Indian D2C actives brands, salon and professional lines, and imported clinical brands - and the median discount of each group came out cleanly separated: 40 per cent, 35, 16, 15 and 10. Those five numbers are the page. A supermarket shampoo and a salon shampoo with the same 4.4 score and comparable rating samples sit 25 badge points apart, and nothing about the products explains it. Every card names its tier's median so you can see whether a badge is generous for its channel or merely normal.
The clearest pairing on this shelf is a Cetaphil cleanser at 11 per cent off with 422,713 ratings at 4.5 and a Himalaya face wash at 40 per cent off with 153,649 ratings at 4.5 - same job, same score, four times the badge. The direction of the discount says which shelf a brand was built for, and the two cheapest products in the read carry the two smallest badges on the page precisely because there is no margin left to cut. We rank on the price paid, the evidence behind it, and what the listing states; the percentage is context, not a recommendation.
These 50 listings carry 18.2 million ratings between them and every single one publishes both a score and a count - which is rare across the shelves this series reads, and it changes what the page can say. It also concentrates strangely: the four most-rated products here cost Rs. 172 to Rs. 449, while the most expensive listing on the page carries 2,511 votes and one Rs. 1,280 bottle carries 86. Every card gives the count alongside the score, because a 4.5 on 422,713 votes and a 4.1 on 86 are not the same kind of claim, and the scores themselves span only 4.1 to 4.5 across the entire read.
We have not used any product on this page. Stated actives and concentrations such as 2 per cent salicylic acid, LHA, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, peptides and keratin, along with claims of transferproof wear, anti-hair-fall action, bond repair and non-drying finish, are quoted from Nykaa's listings as the manufacturer's own wording, reported and not endorsed. We have made no assessment of formulation efficacy, skin or scalp compatibility, irritation risk, shade accuracy or how long any product wears. Two products stating the same headline active are not necessarily equivalent - vehicle, pH, concentration and supporting ingredients all matter and none of these listings publishes a trial. Patch-test actives, and check ingredient lists yourself if you have sensitivities or are pregnant.
Because their distribution channel does not permit it. In our August 8, 2026 read, the eight imported clinical brands - Cetaphil, CeraVe, Bioderma and similar - had a median discount of 10 per cent regardless of whether the product cost Rs. 323 or Rs. 2,204, and the seven salon and professional listings sat at 15. Those brands are sold through pharmacies and salons whose businesses depend on stable pricing, so the online price is protected. Mass-market supermarket brands have no such constraint and cut 35 per cent at the median, while Nykaa's own labels cut 40. If you are waiting for a pharmacy brand to be discounted, this read suggests the wait does not end.
Nothing in this data can tell you that, and the prices vary enormously for stated ingredients that overlap. Our read has a Rs. 223 Nykaa cleanser and a Rs. 1,125 CeraVe both stating 2 per cent salicylic acid, and a Rs. 269 Minimalist cleanser stating the same active plus LHA. The Rs. 223 listing carries 879,582 ratings at 4.3; the Rs. 1,125 one carries 4,323 at 4.5. What separates formulations beyond the headline percentage is the vehicle, the pH, the supporting ingredients and the testing behind them - none of which any listing on this shelf publishes. The honest position is that price here tracks distribution channel far more visibly than it tracks anything you can verify.
The cheap ones, which is the opposite of what happens on most retail shelves. In our read the four most-rated listings were a Rs. 197 Nykaa lipstick with 4,281,485 ratings, a Rs. 419 Maybelline lipstick with 4,117,311, a Rs. 449 Nykaa lipstick with 2,516,170 and a Rs. 172 Swiss Beauty lipstick with 1,393,674. Meanwhile the most expensive listing on the page, a Rs. 3,953 Redken combo, carries 2,511 ratings, and a Rs. 1,280 Wella shampoo carries 86 - the thinnest sample in the read. If you want a purchase backed by evidence rather than positioning, the bottom of this shelf is where it is.
Barely, on their own. Every one of the 50 listings we read scores between 4.1 and 4.5 - a span of four-tenths of a star across the entire shelf, from a Rs. 66 lip liner to a Rs. 3,953 salon combo. What separates the listings is the sample: 18.2 million ratings are spread very unevenly, with several products carrying over a million votes and one Rs. 1,280 bottle carrying 86. Read the count first and the score second. A 4.5 on 422,713 votes is a settled verdict; a 4.5 on 4,323 is an early impression, and a 4.1 on 86 is barely a signal at all.
On the evidence published, the colour cosmetics have an unusually strong case. Nykaa's own lipsticks carry more ratings than any external brand on this shelf - 4.28 million, 2.52 million and 1.2 million across three listings, scoring 4.3, 4.3 and 4.2 - at prices between Rs. 197 and Rs. 449, and they are the most discounted tier in our read at a 40 per cent median. The one caveat worth stating is that when the retailer owns the brand, it sets both the MRP and the selling price, so that 40 per cent is an internal decision rather than a discount against anyone else's pricing. The house skincare is cut less hard: the anti-acne face wash is 20 per cent off.
