The useful question is never which site is cheaper. It is whether the lamp you actually want costs the same on both — and on this shelf one of them does, to the rupee.
We read 69 listings across Amazon and Flipkart on 20 October 2026. A Philips desk light was Rs. 556 on both. A wipro 6W study lamp was Rs. 636 apart. And the shelf median that says Flipkart is cheaper turns out to be counting crystal balls and panda night lights.
Amazon and Flipkart table lamp shelves, read 20 October 2026
69 distinct listings from both retailers' own search results, read minutes apart, logged out, from India - nothing purchased
Philips CLARO Rs. 556 on both · wipro 6W Rs. 636 apart · medians Rs. 424 vs Rs. 360
📅 Update log:
20 October 2026 — First publication. Read the same day, within minutes of each other: amazon.in's own search results for "table lamp" (30 listings after sponsored placements were dropped and duplicate ASINs removed) and flipkart.com's own search results for "table lamp" (39 listings, via a window.__INITIAL_STATE__ parse), both logged out, from India, with nothing purchased and neither retailer contacted. Recorded from this read: the PHILIPS 5W CLARO 3-in-1 LED desk light at Rs. 556 on both sites against a stated MRP of Rs. 1,188 and a 53% badge on both, with 151 ratings on Amazon and 66 on Flipkart; a WEIRD WOLF 3-colour gooseneck lamp at Rs. 475 on Amazon and Rs. 394 and Rs. 405 on Flipkart, all against a stated Rs. 1,299; Crompton 5W rechargeable desk lamps at Rs. 359 (Deskmate, Amazon) and Rs. 386 (DeskJoy, Flipkart) against a stated Rs. 1,000 on both; a wipro 6W study lamp at Rs. 1,335 on Flipkart printing 11% off a stated Rs. 1,500 against wipro's Orion 6W at Rs. 699 on Amazon printing 53% off a stated Rs. 1,499, the model names differing; Amazon prices from Rs. 280 to Rs. 1,224 with a median of Rs. 424 and a median badge of 66%; Flipkart prices from Rs. 151 to Rs. 1,713 with a median of Rs. 360 and a median badge of 70%; all 30 Amazon listings publishing a star average and review count against 5 of Flipkart's 39 publishing neither; and the two largest badges on either shelf being 91% on a Rs. 404 Glowhere urn lamp and 90% on a Rs. 185 panda night light. Shelf contamination flagged rather than used: four of Flipkart's five cheapest listings are novelty night lights, ornaments or sewing-machine clamp lights, so the like-for-like cheap end is Rs. 209 against Rs. 280. No lamp was switched on or measured. Coverage checked before writing: no table lamp page existed; blog 1557 is an Amazon-only September study lamp read and is not revisited.
One Philips desk light, two sites, exactly the same Rs. 556
We read both retailers' own search results for table lamp on 20 October 2026 — 30 Amazon listings and 39 Flipkart listings, logged out, from India, nothing purchased.
The PHILIPS 5W CLARO 3-in-1 LED desk light sells at Rs. 556 on Amazon and Rs. 556 on Flipkart, against the same stated MRP of Rs. 1,188 and printing the same 53% badge. The only thing that differs is the review pool: 151 ratings against 66.
That is the exception, not the rule. On the other matched names the two shelves part company by up to Rs. 636 — and the shelf medians, which say Flipkart is cheaper, are measuring something other than study lamps.
The models that appear on both shelves
| Model | Amazon | Flipkart | Stated MRP | Badge | Ratings (A vs F) |
|---|
| PHILIPS 5W CLARO 3-in-1 LED desk light | Rs. 556 | Rs. 556 | Rs. 1,188 both | 53% both | 151 vs 66 |
| WEIRD WOLF 3-colour gooseneck study lamp | Rs. 475 | Rs. 394 | Rs. 1,299 both | 63% vs 70% | 12,719 vs 11,724 |
| Crompton 5W rechargeable desk lamp (Deskmate / DeskJoy) | Rs. 359 | Rs. 386 | Rs. 1,000 both | 64% vs 61% | 1,844 vs 2,127 |
| wipro 6W study lamp (Orion on Amazon) | Rs. 699 | Rs. 1,335 | Rs. 1,499 vs Rs. 1,500 | 53% vs 11% | 2,693 vs 539 |
| One94Store touch-control rechargeable desk lamp | Rs. 299 | Rs. 351 | Rs. 999 both | 70% vs 65% | 994 vs 612 |
Flipkart wins the WEIRD WOLF and One94Store lamps; Amazon wins Crompton and wipro; Philips is a draw. There is no site-wide answer on this shelf, which is the useful finding — a habit of always checking one retailer costs money in both directions here.
One caution on the wipro row. The two listings carry different model names: Flipkart's reads "Wipro 6W Study Lamp", Amazon's "wipro Orion 6w Rechargeable". We are not claiming they are the same lamp, and we did not open either box. We report the gap because the brand and the wattage match and a shopper comparing on those two fields alone would pay Rs. 636 more.
The two shelves, side by side
| Measure | Amazon | Flipkart |
|---|
| Listings read | 30 | 39 |
| Price range | Rs. 280 to Rs. 1,224 | Rs. 151 to Rs. 1,713 |
| Median price | Rs. 424 | Rs. 360 |
| Listings under Rs. 400 | 15 of 30 | 25 of 39 |
| Listings over Rs. 700 | 3 of 30 | 5 of 39 |
| Median badge | 66% | 70% |
| Badge range | 36% to 86% | 11% to 91% |
| Listings publishing no rating | 0 of 30 | 5 of 39 |
Flipkart's median is Rs. 64 lower and that number should not be trusted. Its results page mixes genuine desk lamps with novelty night lights, ornaments and sewing-machine clamp lights, which is why 25 of its 39 listings fall under Rs. 400.
Amazon's shelf is narrower and more uniform — nothing below Rs. 280, nothing above Rs. 1,224, and every single listing publishing a star average and a review count. Flipkart's reaches further in both directions and leaves five listings with no rating at all.
What the cheap end of Flipkart's shelf actually is
| Listing | Price | Stated MRP | Badge | What it is |
|---|
| Easymart galaxy crystal ball night light, 2.4 in | Rs. 151 | Rs. 999 | 85% | A paperweight-sized ornament |
| DEGNO sewing machine light, magnetic base | Rs. 174 | Rs. 1,200 | 86% | Clips to a sewing machine |
| Raj Tailoring Y-10 sewing machine LED light | Rs. 176 | Rs. 499 | 65% | Clips to a sewing machine |
| Raregets cute panda USB night light | Rs. 185 | Rs. 1,890 | 90% | A children's night light |
| Glowhere modern black urn table lamp | Rs. 404 | Rs. 4,450 | 91% | The largest badge on either shelf |
| Cheapest actual desk lamp on Flipkart | Rs. 209 | Rs. 999 | 79% | LOPAZ USB LED desk lamp |
| Cheapest listing on Amazon | Rs. 280 | Rs. 1,998 | 86% | Gesto rechargeable study lamp |
We are showing this rather than quietly letting the median stand. Four of the five cheapest things on Flipkart's table lamp results are not table lamps in any useful sense — a 2.4-inch crystal ball, a panda night light and two lights that clip onto a sewing machine.
None of that is Flipkart doing anything wrong; a search for "table lamp" returns what sellers have filed under it. It does mean the like-for-like comparison is Rs. 209 against Rs. 280 at the cheap end, not Rs. 151 against Rs. 280.
The two biggest badges on either shelf also sit here: 91% on a Rs. 404 urn lamp against a stated Rs. 4,450, and 90% on the Rs. 185 panda against a stated Rs. 1,890.
Where the recognised brands land
| Model | Amazon | Flipkart | Note |
|---|
| PHILIPS 5W CLARO | Rs. 556 | Rs. 556 | Identical price, MRP and badge |
| PHILIPS 5W LUMOS | — | Rs. 679 | Flipkart only on this read |
| PHILIPS 5W VION | Rs. 565 | — | Amazon only on this read |
| PHILIPS Orbit 5W | Rs. 1,224 | — | Amazon only; 36% badge, 2,505 ratings |
| wipro 6W study lamp | Rs. 699 | Rs. 1,335 | Rs. 636 apart; differently named models |
| wipro rechargeable round/flexible | Rs. 638 | — | 41% badge, 4,706 ratings |
| Crompton 5W rechargeable | Rs. 359 | Rs. 386 | Deskmate vs DeskJoy, Rs. 27 apart |
| Crompton Deskmate (Flipkart listing) | — | Rs. 1,689 | Stated MRP Rs. 4,000, no rating published |
Philips is the brand with real overlap, and it holds its price. The CLARO is identical on both; the LUMOS appeared only on Flipkart and the VION and Orbit only on Amazon, so for three of the four there was nothing to compare.
The outlier worth naming is the Flipkart "Crompton Deskmate" listing at Rs. 1,689 against a stated MRP of Rs. 4,000, publishing no rating, while Amazon's Crompton Deskmate 5W sells at Rs. 359 against a stated Rs. 1,000 with 1,844 ratings. We cannot tell you these are the same product and we are not suggesting anything improper — the Flipkart title gives no wattage and no rating to check it against. That absence is the point: there is nothing on that tile to justify the gap to a buyer.
How we read these two shelves
Both pulls were the retailers' own search results for the phrase "table lamp", read within minutes of each other on 20 October 2026, logged out, from India, with nothing purchased and neither retailer contacted. Amazon returned 30 listings after sponsored placements were dropped and duplicate ASINs removed; Flipkart returned 39.
We matched models by brand name plus stated wattage plus stated MRP, and we have named every case where the model names differ rather than presenting it as a clean match. Prices on both sites change daily and a single read is a snapshot, not a trend — the one thing we would not do on this evidence is tell you that one retailer is cheaper for study lamps.
What this page does not tell you
This is a price read, not a product test. No lamp was switched on, measured for brightness or flicker, or assessed for eye comfort. Wattages, "EyeComfort", "3-in-1", battery capacities and dimming grades above are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced and not verified.
Nor does it tell you today's price. Every figure here was returned on 20 October 2026. Check both listings before buying, compare the full model name rather than the brand and wattage, and rank by the rupee figure — on these two shelves the badge ranged from 11% to 91% and told you almost nothing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is cheaper for a study lamp, Amazon or Flipkart?
It depends entirely on the model, and the shelf medians will mislead you. Flipkart's median listing on this read was Rs. 360 against Amazon's Rs. 424 — but Flipkart's cheap end is not study lamps. A Rs. 151 crystal-ball ornament, a Rs. 185 panda night light and Rs. 174 sewing machine lights are all counted in that median. The cheapest thing on Flipkart that is actually a desk lamp cost Rs. 209, against Rs. 280 on Amazon. On matched models the answer splits: WEIRD WOLF and One94Store were cheaper on Flipkart, Crompton and wipro cheaper on Amazon, and the Philips CLARO cost exactly the same on both. Compare the model you want, not the shelf.
Is the Philips CLARO really the same price on both sites?
On this read, yes — to the rupee. The PHILIPS 5W CLARO 3-in-1 LED desk light was Rs. 556 on Amazon and Rs. 556 on Flipkart, both measured against a stated MRP of Rs. 1,188, both printing 53% off. The only difference we could see was the review pool: 151 ratings on Amazon against 66 on Flipkart. That is what a brand holding a single list price across retailers looks like, and it is worth knowing because it means that for this model there is nothing to shop around for — pick whichever site you would rather buy from. Prices change daily and this was a single read on 20 October 2026; check both before you buy.
Why is the wipro lamp Rs. 1,335 on one site and Rs. 699 on the other?
They are differently named models and we cannot tell you they are the same lamp. Flipkart listed a "Wipro 6W Study Lamp" at Rs. 1,335 against a stated Rs. 1,500 — an 11% badge, the smallest on that whole shelf. Amazon listed a "wipro Orion 6w Rechargeable LED Table Lamp" at Rs. 699 against a stated Rs. 1,499, a 53% badge. Same brand, same stated wattage, near-identical stated MRP, Rs. 636 between them. The Amazon listing describes a rechargeable battery and three dimming grades; the Flipkart title states neither way. We did not open either box and allege nothing improper by anyone — a manufacturer sells different configurations through different channels all the time. It is simply a case where the brand name and the wattage are not enough to compare on, and the full model name is.
Does the bigger discount badge mean the better price?
Not on either of these shelves. The largest badge we found anywhere was 91%, on a Glowhere urn table lamp at Rs. 404 measured against a stated Rs. 4,450. The second largest was 90%, on a Rs. 185 panda night light measured against Rs. 1,890. Meanwhile the Philips CLARO — a brand-name 5W desk light at the same Rs. 556 on both sites — prints 53%, and the wipro listing on Flipkart prints 11%. The badge is arithmetic against a figure the seller chose and you never pay; no stated MRP here is being called false and no wrongdoing is alleged. Rank by the rupee figure, then by the stated wattage, then by the rating count.
Which shelf has better review data?
Amazon's, clearly, on this read. All 30 Amazon listings published a star average and a review count. Five of Flipkart's 39 published neither, including a Rs. 1,689 Crompton Deskmate listing with a stated MRP of Rs. 4,000 and a Rs. 1,359 table lamp from a seller called azzumiyanstore. Flipkart does carry the deepest single pool we found — 67,180 ratings on one WEIRD WOLF gooseneck lamp, with a near-identical WEIRD WOLF listing beside it carrying 11,724. That is in all likelihood ordinary variant listing and we allege nothing by it, but it does mean two tiles of what looks like the same lamp can show very different review depth.

Zoutons earns affiliate commission on some links on this page. It costs you nothing and it does not decide what we write. Every price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count above was returned by amazon.in's and flipkart.com's own search results on 20 October 2026, read within minutes of each other, logged out, from India, with nothing purchased. This is a price read, not a product test. No lamp was switched on, measured for brightness or flicker, or assessed for eye comfort — wattages, "EyeComfort", "3-in-1", battery capacities and dimming grades are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced here and not independently verified. Where two listings carry different model names we have said so and have NOT claimed they are the same product — the wipro and Crompton rows in particular compare differently named models that share a brand, a stated wattage and a stated MRP, and a manufacturer selling different configurations through different retailers is entirely ordinary. NO STATED MRP IS CALLED FALSE AND NO WRONGDOING BY ANY BRAND, SELLER, BY AMAZON OR BY FLIPKART IS ALLEGED. A single read is a snapshot and not a trend; prices on both sites change daily. What each retailer publishes at the time you buy prevails over anything here.
