A flask prints the one number you can divide by. Do that across two retailers and the price gap turns out to be smaller than the gap in how much each one claims to be discounting.
📅 Update log:
7 November 2026: first published. Tata CLiQ figures read from tatacliq.com's own product API; Flipkart figures from flipkart.com's own search data. Both read the same morning, logged out, from India, with nothing bought and no coupon or bank offer applied.
A vacuum flask is one of the few homeware items that publishes a number you can divide by: its capacity, printed in millilitres in almost every listing title. We read both shelves on 7 November 2026, logged out, from India — 35 distinct listings from Tata CLiQ's own product API, 101 from Flipkart's own search data.
Flipkart states a capacity on 100 of its 101 listings; Tata CLiQ on 23 of 35. Dividing price by that figure: Flipkart runs Rs. 202 to Rs. 3,069 a litre with a median of Rs. 800; Tata CLiQ runs Rs. 548 to Rs. 2,526 with a median of Rs. 1,199.
Unlike some cross-retailer reads, these two ranges genuinely overlap — Flipkart's dearest flask per litre is dearer than anything on Tata CLiQ. So the honest claim here is about the middle of each shelf, not about every listing on it.
The clearer difference is not price, it is discounting. Tata CLiQ's median badge on this shelf is 20% and its deepest is 45%. Flipkart's median is 53% and its deepest is 86%. And the brand that appears most on Tata CLiQ barely moves at all: Borosil's eleven listings there badge 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 10%.
The two brands that appear on both
| Brand | Tata CLiQ listings | Tata CLiQ badges | Flipkart listings | Flipkart badges |
|---|
| Borosil | 11 listings, Rs. 899–1,263 | 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 10% | 1 listing at Rs. 628 | 22% |
| Milton | 2 listings, both Rs. 499 | 1% (stated Rs. 505) | 22 listings, Rs. 312–491 | 15% to 31% |
Borosil is effectively a full-price brand on Tata CLiQ. Eleven listings between Rs. 899 and Rs. 1,263, and not one of them badged above 10%. Six of the eleven badge 4% or less. Flipkart's single Borosil listing sells at Rs. 628 and badges 22%.
Milton is the sharper illustration. Tata CLiQ carries two Milton Eiffel 1000 flasks, both at Rs. 499 against a stated Rs. 505 — a reference price six rupees above the asking price, which renders as 1% off. Flipkart carries 22 Milton listings between Rs. 312 and Rs. 491, badged 15% to 31%.
This is not evidence that Tata CLiQ is overcharging. A 1% badge on a Rs. 499 flask is a retailer declining to inflate a reference price, which is the opposite of the behaviour we criticise on other shelves. It does mean that on this category, a discount percentage will not help you choose between these two sites — the numbers measure different things.
What a litre of insulated capacity costs
| Flask | Site | Price | Per litre |
|---|
| Snapple TAG single-wall, 1,000 ml | Flipkart | Rs. 202 | Rs. 202 |
| KAMRAN PLAST flip cap, 900 ml | Flipkart | Rs. 198 | Rs. 220 |
| Milton Eiffel 1000 thermosteel, 910 ml | Tata CLiQ | Rs. 499 | Rs. 548 |
| Freelance Coffee Steel, 2,000 ml | Tata CLiQ | Rs. 1,889 | Rs. 944 |
| Snapple Cola insulated, 500 ml | Flipkart | Rs. 982 | Rs. 1,964 |
| Bergner steel flask, 350 ml | Tata CLiQ | Rs. 769 | Rs. 2,197 |
| Borosil Hydra Carry Mate, 500 ml | Tata CLiQ | Rs. 1,263 | Rs. 2,526 |
| Milton Elfin 160 thermosteel, 160 ml | Flipkart | Rs. 452 | Rs. 2,825 |
Read the bottom of that table before you trust the top of it. The dearest flask per litre in either read is a Milton Elfin 160, a 160 ml pocket flask at Rs. 452. It is not a bad buy; it is a small object, and dividing by a small number produces a large one. Per-litre pricing structurally penalises small flasks, and the same effect puts a 350 ml Bergner at Rs. 2,197 a litre.
The figure is useful at the other end. A 2,000 ml Freelance on Tata CLiQ at Rs. 1,889 works out at Rs. 944 a litre — cheaper per litre than most of that shelf despite being its second-dearest item. If you are buying for a household or a journey rather than a desk, capacity is what you are paying for and this is the column to read.
What per litre cannot see: stated insulation hours, steel grade, lid design, leak-proofing or whether the thing survives a drop. None of that was tested, and nothing on either page was filled.
The two shelves, side by side
| Measure | Tata CLiQ (35 listings) | Flipkart (101 listings) |
|---|
| Listings read | 35 | 101 |
| Cheapest listing | Rs. 499 | Rs. 148 |
| Dearest listing | Rs. 2,484 | Rs. 1,159 |
| Median price | Rs. 949 | Rs. 495 |
| Listings stating capacity | 23 of 35 | 100 of 101 |
| Cheapest per litre | Rs. 548 | Rs. 202 |
| Median per litre | Rs. 1,199 | Rs. 800 |
| Dearest per litre | Rs. 2,526 | Rs. 3,069 |
| Median discount badge | 20% | 53% |
| Deepest badge | 45% | 86% |
| Listings publishing a rating | 21 of 35 | 87 of 101 |
| Largest rating count | 9 | 67,165 |
The rating rows are the widest gap on the page. Tata CLiQ publishes a rating on 21 of 35 listings and its largest rating count in the whole read is 9. Flipkart publishes on 87 of 101 and reaches 67,165 on one steel bottle and 49,033 on a Milton Elfin.
So the two sites are good at different things on this shelf. Tata CLiQ carries a deeper Borosil and Jaypee Plus range at steady, honest prices with almost no published feedback. Flipkart carries far more choice, deeper discounts against larger stated prices, and tens of thousands of ratings to read. If the flask matters, that last column is worth more than the badge.
Decide the capacity first, then divide. Flask listings are sorted and badged in ways that make a 160 ml pocket flask and a 2-litre carrier look comparable. They are not. Pick the size you actually need, then compare rupees per litre only within that size — the cross-size figures in this read are there to show the spread, not to rank the flasks.
What this comparison does and does not show
- It compares medians, not every listing. The per-litre ranges overlap, and Flipkart holds both the cheapest and the dearest per litre.
- It makes no like-for-like product comparison. Only two brands appear on both shelves and no single model was matched across them.
- It does not test insulation. "24 hours hot", "double wall" and "thermosteel" are the sellers' own words.
- It excludes coupons, bank offers and delivery charges, all of which move these numbers. Both reads were made logged out.
- Tata CLiQ's low badges are reported as low badges, not as poor value. A 1% badge on a Rs. 499 flask reflects an uninflated reference price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a vacuum flask cheaper on Tata CLiQ or Flipkart?
Flipkart, in the middle of the shelf. Read 7 November 2026, Tata CLiQ's 35 flask listings ran Rs. 499 to Rs. 2,484 with a median of Rs. 949; Flipkart's 101 ran Rs. 148 to Rs. 1,159 with a median of Rs. 495. Priced by capacity, Flipkart's median was Rs. 800 a litre against Tata CLiQ's Rs. 1,199. But the ranges overlap — Flipkart holds both the cheapest flask per litre at Rs. 202 and the dearest at Rs. 3,069 — so this is a statement about the middle of each shelf, not about every listing. Prices move daily; check both.
What is a good price per litre for a vacuum flask?
On this read the whole observed range was Rs. 202 to Rs. 3,069 a litre, with medians of Rs. 800 on Flipkart and Rs. 1,199 on Tata CLiQ. Use the figure only within one size band. Per-litre pricing structurally penalises small flasks: the dearest in this read was a 160 ml Milton Elfin at Rs. 452, which is Rs. 2,825 a litre and still a perfectly sensible pocket flask. At the other end, a 2,000 ml Freelance at Rs. 1,889 works out at Rs. 944 a litre despite being one of the dearest items in either shelf. Decide the capacity you need first.
Why do Tata CLiQ flasks show such small discounts?
Because Tata CLiQ prints reference prices close to what it actually charges on this shelf. Its median badge is 20% against Flipkart's 53%, and the pattern is clearest on Borosil: eleven Tata CLiQ Borosil listings badge 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 10%. Two Milton Eiffel flasks there sell at Rs. 499 against a stated Rs. 505 — a six-rupee gap, rendered as 1% off. That is not a worse deal; it is an uninflated list price, which is the opposite of the inflated ones that produce 86% badges elsewhere. It does mean the percentage is useless for comparing these two sites.
Which site has more flask reviews, Tata CLiQ or Flipkart?
Flipkart, overwhelmingly. Tata CLiQ publishes a rating on 21 of its 35 listings, and the largest rating count anywhere in that read is 9. Flipkart publishes on 87 of 101, reaching 67,165 ratings on one steel bottle and 49,033 on a Milton Elfin 160. On a product whose entire function — staying hot for hours, not leaking in a bag — only reveals itself after weeks of use, that gap matters more than the price gap. If you are buying blind, buy where someone has reported back.
Which flask brands appear on both Tata CLiQ and Flipkart?
Only two in this read: Borosil and Milton. Borosil has 11 listings on Tata CLiQ between Rs. 899 and Rs. 1,263, and one on Flipkart at Rs. 628. Milton has 2 on Tata CLiQ, both at Rs. 499, and 22 on Flipkart between Rs. 312 and Rs. 491. The rest of each shelf is different: Tata CLiQ carries Jaypee Plus, Wonderchef, Bergner, FNS and Freelance; Flipkart carries Go24, Aurasip, iVBOX, Perch and Hilton alongside its Milton range. No single flask model was matched across the two sites, so this page makes no like-for-like price claim.
Prices & codes last verified: November 7, 2026
Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count on this page was read on 7 November 2026, logged out, from India, with nothing bought — the Tata CLiQ figures from that site's own product API and the Flipkart figures from flipkart.com's own search data. Price per litre is the selling price divided by the capacity the listing itself states, and it structurally penalises small flasks — the dearest figure in this read belongs to a 160 ml pocket flask, which is noted on the page. No flask model was matched across the two sites, so no like-for-like price comparison is made. Insulation hours, steel grade, leak-proofing and build quality were not assessed and nothing here was filled or timed; "24 hours hot" and similar phrases are the sellers' own. Coupons, bank offers and delivery charges are excluded throughout. Stated MRPs are each retailer's own reference prices and nothing here alleges any of them is false; a small discount badge reflects an uninflated reference price, not poor value.
