Twenty-three puja listings read on 26 September. Five queries produced five different median badges, and the aisle that discounts least is the only one where every listing publishes a rating.
Puja shopping happens once a year under time pressure, which is exactly when a big percentage does the most damage. We read Amazon's puja shelf on 26 September 2026 - 126 listings across diya sets, thali sets, brass idols, samagri kits and agarbatti, every one with a price and a stated MRP. The badges are not random, but they do not track value either: they track the aisle. Diya sets show a median 76 per cent off and incense 18, and it is incense, the least discounted aisle, where every single listing publishes a rating.
Every price below was pulled from Amazon on September 26, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Amazon coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

An 85% badge in the aisle whose median badge is 18%.
Why it earned its spot The exception that shows the aisle's rule.
First: note which aisle you are in before you read the percentage. On this shelf the median badge runs from 76 per cent in diya sets to 18 per cent in incense, so a 50 per cent badge is a poor deal in one aisle and an unusually good one in another. Second: divide before you compare. Several diya listings price a set of 100 and several price a single urli; a Rs. 235 pack of 100 tealights is Rs. 2.35 each, and the badge is calculated on the pack either way. Third: read the count next to the star. The samples here run from 6 to 13,944, and the highest average on this page - 4.8 - rests on 39 ratings while a 3.9 rests on 1,058. Fourth: for samagri kits, treat the item list in the title as the specification, because it is the one purchase on this shelf where the photograph shows you nothing about quantity.

Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count on this page was read on 26 September 2026 from amazon.in's own search results for five puja queries, logged out, in India. 126 distinct listings returned both a selling price and a stated MRP. Nothing was bought.
A diya set and an incense pack are not alternatives, so we never rank them against each other. Every median, range and badge comparison on this page is made inside one query's results - the 19 diya listings against each other, the 26 incense listings against each other - and the only cross-aisle claim we make is about the badges themselves.
Eighteen of the 126 listings publish no rating at all, and the samples that do exist run from 6 to 13,944. A 4.8 from 39 ratings and a 3.9 from 1,058 are not comparable numbers, so no star average appears on this page without the count that produced it standing next to it.
'Pure brass', 'copper', 'polystone', '100% pure', piece counts and pack weights are the listings' own printed text, reproduced and not verified. Nothing here was bought, unboxed, lit, weighed or measured, and no claim is made about material, purity, ritual suitability, fragrance or safety.
In our 26 September 2026 read, the 29 pooja thali listings ran from Rs. 209 to Rs. 3,205, with a median of Rs. 899. Size is what moves the price: a four-inch brass arti thali sat at Rs. 229, an eight-inch plate at Rs. 698, and complete eight-inch sets with kalash, bowls and spoon clustered at Rs. 999. The median displayed discount in this aisle was 50%. Twenty-eight of the 29 published a rating, which makes it one of the better-evidenced aisles on the shelf.
Because the two aisles declare MRPs differently. In this read the 19 diya listings showed a median 76% off and the 26 incense listings a median 18%. The incense aisle is dominated by established houses selling boxes at Rs. 129 to Rs. 300 against modest stated MRPs, while diya and urli listings routinely declare three to fourteen times their selling price. The percentage is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose, so it describes the declaration habit of the aisle rather than the value of the object.
The cheapest listing in our read was an incense pack at Rs. 52, and the cheapest object we seated was a Rs. 69 iron urli in diya shape, which carries 4.3 stars from 399 ratings. On a per-piece basis the cheapest thing here is a set of 100 wax tealights at Rs. 235 - Rs. 2.35 each on the listing's own count. The Rs. 69 urli also carries the largest MRP multiple of anything we seated: a declared Rs. 999, or 14.48 times its price.
Two listings in this read wore 99% badges, and in both cases the stated MRP was exactly 100.0 times the selling price - a Rs. 240 diya set declaring Rs. 24,000 and a Rs. 170 kit declaring Rs. 17,000. We have not seated either. Stating an MRP above the selling price is legal and commonplace in Indian retail and we allege no wrongdoing by anyone, but a round hundredfold multiple is arithmetic rather than a saving. Judge the item on its selling price and its rating count instead.
It depends entirely on the aisle. All 26 incense listings published a rating, with samples up to 13,944, and 28 of 29 thali listings did. But ten of the 22 samagri kits published no rating at all, and across the whole shelf 18 of 126 listings were unrated. Sample sizes matter as much as averages here: the highest star average among our cards, 4.8, rests on 39 ratings, while a 3.9 on the same page rests on 1,058.
