We pulled Amazon India's popularity-sorted results for water heaters on 30 August 2026: 31 result rows, 29 unique products, all with a price and a struck-through price. They run from Rs. 949 to Rs. 8,599, and the shelf splits cleanly into two kinds of machine that are often confused.

Instant geysers hold 1 to 6 litres and heat continuously while the tap runs. They are for a kitchen sink, a wash basin or a quick bucket, and they cost Rs. 1,599 to Rs. 4,163 from the recognised brands here. Storage geysers hold 10 to 25 litres, heat a tankful and hold it, and are what a shower needs; they run Rs. 3,197 to Rs. 8,599.

Buying the wrong one is the most common mistake in this category, and no discount compensates for it: a 3-litre instant heater will never give you a hot shower, however cheap it is.

The largest badge in this pull is 99 per cent, on an AO Smith EWS NEO 5L at Rs. 4,199 against a struck price of Rs. 4,19,900. That figure is exactly one hundred times the selling price, which is the signature of a units error — a price entered in paise and displayed as rupees — rather than a manufacturer's list price.

Against that, Activa's 3-litre models at Rs. 2,047 carry 1,993 and 2,464 ratings at 4.2, and Bajaj's Splendora at Rs. 3,099 carries 7,642 at 4.0. Those are the cheapest machines on the shelf with real evidence behind them.
