Both were read on the morning of 23 September 2026 as a logged-out visitor in India with nothing purchased. The brand-overlap check and the count of titles containing the word Pashmina are ours, made over the same session's results. Both retailers re-price without notice, so we re-read both shelves and log what has changed here.
Seven rupees separate the two medians - and almost nothing else matches
We read both shawl shelves on the morning of 23 September 2026 - 38 listings on Myntra, 61 on AJIO - as the season for them begins. AJIO's median shawl costs Rs. 699 and Myntra's Rs. 692. On price alone there is nothing between them.
Everything else diverges. AJIO's shelf runs to Rs. 2,790 and has five listings at Rs. 1,500 or more; Myntra's stops at Rs. 1,051 and has none. AJIO's cheapest is Rs. 365 against Myntra's Rs. 425. So AJIO is the wider shelf at both ends and Myntra is compressed into a single band - 36 of its 38 listings sit under Rs. 1,000.
Both shelves are also dominated by one label each. Indie Picks holds 23 of AJIO's 61 listings and Sangria 13 of Myntra's 38, which is worth knowing before you read either page as a market.

AJIO publishes no rating on a single one of its 61 shawls
Not one AJIO shawl listing in this read carries a star average or a rating count. Myntra publishes both on 21 of its 38, and some of those samples are substantial: 1,429 ratings on a Rs. 1,051 Pashmoda jamawar shawl, 1,409 on its Gulnari Kaani, 458 on a Rs. 437 Sangria.
That gap matters more on this shelf than on most, because a shawl is bought for how it feels and how it wears - properties no listing photograph settles and no specification here states. On Myntra you can at least see that the two best-evidenced listings in either read are the two Pashmoda shawls at Rs. 1,051, rated 4.4 and 4.5 by roughly fourteen hundred buyers each.
Those two are also the shallowest badges on the Myntra shelf - 26 and 33 per cent, against stated MRPs of Rs. 1,425 and Rs. 1,565. The pattern recurs across everything we read this month: the listings with modest MRPs are disproportionately the ones with real feedback behind them.
₹ The rule that falls out of this page. The medians are identical, so choose on evidence rather than price. Myntra publishes ratings on 21 of 38 listings and AJIO on none of 61. If you are spending under Rs. 700 on a shawl you have not touched, the shelf that tells you what arrived in other people's parcels is worth the seven-rupee difference.
One brand sells on both - with two completely different MRP policies
Weavers Villa is the only label we found on both shelves, and the way it prices differs by platform in a way the badges make obvious.
On AJIO it has seven listings from Rs. 521 to Rs. 1,385, with badges of 35 to 42 per cent - stated MRPs around 1.6 to 1.7 times the selling price. On Myntra it has two, at Rs. 488 against a stated Rs. 1,299 (62 per cent) and Rs. 491 against a stated Rs. 2,499 (80 per cent) - multiples of 2.66 and 5.09.
The garments are not the same, so this is not a like-for-like price gap and we do not present it as one. What is comparable is the MRP field: one brand declaring roughly 1.65 times its price in one place and up to 5.09 times in the other, for shawls selling within Rs. 100 of each other. Sellers set MRPs per platform and nothing improper is alleged - but it is a clean demonstration that a discount badge describes the seller's paperwork, not your saving.

Twenty-four listings use the word 'Pashmina', from Rs. 425 upwards
The word appears in 18 of Myntra's 38 titles and 6 of AJIO's 61, on listings priced from Rs. 425 to Rs. 1,427. On Myntra the cheapest is a Sangria at Rs. 425 against a stated Rs. 3,799 - an MRP 8.94 times the price, the largest multiple in either read. On AJIO the Pashmina-titled listings are all Indie Picks, from Rs. 662 to Rs. 1,427, and all state a 75 per cent badge except one.
None of these listing titles states a fibre composition, and we did not open product pages or handle any shawl, so this page makes no claim about what any of them is made of. What we can report is the naming and the money: a word associated with a fine, expensive Himalayan fibre appears on listings selling for four hundred and twenty-five rupees.
If the fibre matters to you - and on a shawl it is most of what you are paying for - the practical step is to open the product page and read the material and care section before ordering, on either platform. Where a listing does state its material in the title, we have quoted it: 'acrylic', 'woollen', 'wool blend', 'pure wool', 'velvet'.

The badges run the wrong way round
AJIO's median badge is 72 per cent and Myntra's 66, which would suggest AJIO is discounting harder. The medians of what buyers actually pay are Rs. 699 and Rs. 692. Both facts are true and only one of them is about money.
The extremes make the point sharper. Myntra's deepest badge is 89 per cent on the Rs. 425 Sangria, from a stated Rs. 3,799. AJIO's deepest is 78 per cent on a Rs. 880 Swi Stylish, from a stated Rs. 3,999 - a higher MRP, a smaller badge and twice the price. Meanwhile the two listings with the most feedback in either read carry badges of 26 and 33 per cent.
Read the rupee figure and the rating count, in that order, and the percentage becomes what it is: a property of the number the seller typed in the MRP field.
Myntra if you want feedback, AJIO if you want range
On price there is nothing to choose - Rs. 692 against Rs. 699 at the median, with both shelves concentrated under a thousand rupees. Anyone telling you one of these platforms is cheaper for shawls is describing a listing, not a shelf.
Myntra is the better shelf for a first shawl, because 21 of its 38 listings publish a rating and two of them - the Pashmoda shawls at Rs. 1,051 - carry roughly fourteen hundred ratings each at 4.4 and 4.5. That is the only evidence of that size anywhere in this read.
AJIO is the shelf if you want more than Myntra stocks: it runs from Rs. 365 to Rs. 2,790 where Myntra stops at Rs. 1,051, and its upper end includes pure wool and Kashmiri embroidered pieces. You are buying those entirely on the photograph and the description, because the shelf publishes no feedback at all.
