Myntra's t-shirt shelf and AJIO's report the same median stated MRP: Rs. 999. What they charge is Rs. 130 apart — a median Rs. 415 against Rs. 285 — and fifty of AJIO's ninety listings sit under Rs. 300 against ten of Myntra's seventy-six.
We read both on 4 September 2026. Below: why almost all of AJIO's advantage is one own-label brand, how the two stores price the single brand they both stock, and the one field Myntra publishes on 56 listings that AJIO publishes on none.
📅 Both shelves read 4 September 2026
Myntra 76 listings, median Rs. 415. AJIO 90 listings, median Rs. 285
Identical median stated MRP on both: Rs. 999
📅 Update log:
4 Sep 2026 — first published. Myntra's 76 listings were read from its own listing pages and AJIO's 90 from its own search API, both on 4 September 2026 as served to a logged-out visitor with nothing purchased. AJIO returns a reference price only on discounted stock, so its sample is discounted stock by construction; that asymmetry is flagged wherever it bears on a comparison. Both sites re-rank continuously and move prices without notice, so we re-read both shelves and log what has changed here.
Same median MRP. Rs. 130 difference in what you actually pay
We read both t-shirt shelves on the morning of 4 September 2026 — 76 listings from Myntra's own listing pages, 90 from AJIO's own search. The two shelves report an identical median stated maximum retail price of Rs. 999.
They do not report identical prices. Myntra's median t-shirt is Rs. 415 at a median 56% off. AJIO's is Rs. 285 at a median 65% off. The difference is Rs. 130, or about a third.
The spread of the two shelves is different too, and more sharply than the medians suggest. Fifty of AJIO's 90 listings are under Rs. 300, against ten of Myntra's 76. Myntra's shelf clusters hard in the Rs. 300–500 band (42 of 76); AJIO's clusters below Rs. 300. If your budget for a t-shirt is Rs. 250, one of these shelves has a great deal of stock for you and the other has very little.

AJIO's price advantage is one own-label brand
Almost all of the Rs. 130 gap traces to a single label. DNMX, AJIO's own brand, is 29 of the 90 listings — nearly a third of the shelf — at a median price of Rs. 152.
What makes DNMX worth pointing at is its reference prices. Its median stated MRP is Rs. 299, giving a median badge of 49%: the most modest set of reference numbers on either shelf. A DNMX tee at Rs. 127 is marked down from Rs. 249, which is a claim you can look at without squinting.
Take DNMX out and AJIO changes character completely. The remaining 61 listings have a median price of Rs. 315 — still below Myntra — but their median stated MRP leaps to Rs. 1,399 and their median badge to 75%. So AJIO's shelf is really two shelves: a genuinely cheap own-label section priced against modest MRPs, and a third-party section priced against four-figure ones.
| Group | Listings | Median price | Median stated MRP | Median off |
|---|
| AJIO, DNMX own label | 29 | Rs. 152 | Rs. 299 | 49% |
| AJIO, everything except DNMX | 61 | Rs. 315 | Rs. 1,399 | 75% |
| AJIO, whole shelf | 90 | Rs. 285 | Rs. 999 | 65% |
| Myntra, whole shelf | 76 | Rs. 415 | Rs. 999 | 56% |
₹ The two samples are not built identically, and it matters. AJIO's search response carries a reference-price field only on discounted stock, so everything we could read from AJIO is discounted by construction; Myntra's listing data includes full-price items and three of the 76 are at 0% off. That biases AJIO's median badge upward and may bias its median price downward, so treat the discount comparison as indicative. The price bands, the brand concentration and the ratings finding are unaffected by it.
The one brand both stock, priced head to head
Only two brands appear on both shelves in our samples, and only one of them in any quantity: U.S. Polo Assn., with six listings on AJIO and five on Myntra. It is the closest thing to a like-for-like test these two shelves offer.
On AJIO those six run Rs. 420 to Rs. 854, badged 43–58% off stated MRPs of Rs. 999 to Rs. 1,499. On Myntra the five run Rs. 594 to Rs. 730, badged 14–18% off stated MRPs of Rs. 699 to Rs. 849.
Both of those things are true at once: AJIO's entry U.S. Polo Assn. tee is Rs. 174 cheaper than Myntra's, and Myntra's reference prices for the same brand are around Rs. 400 lower. These are not necessarily the same garments — we compared brand and price, not style codes, and a Rs. 420 tee and a Rs. 594 tee may be different products. But it does show the two stores describing one brand very differently, and the cheaper shelf is the one with the bigger badges.
| U.S. Polo Assn. listing | Store | Price | Stated MRP | Off |
|---|
| Men's polo / tee | AJIO | Rs. 420 | Rs. 999 | 58% |
| Men's tee | AJIO | Rs. 546 | Rs. 1,299 | 58% |
| Men's tee | AJIO | Rs. 564 | Rs. 1,199 | 53% |
| Men's tee | AJIO | Rs. 569 | Rs. 999 | 43% |
| Men's tee | AJIO | Rs. 576 | Rs. 1,199 | 52% |
| Men's tee | AJIO | Rs. 854 | Rs. 1,499 | 43% |
| Embroidered Logo Lounge Tee | Myntra | Rs. 594 | Rs. 699 | 15% |
| Pure Cotton Comfort Fit | Myntra | Rs. 696 | Rs. 849 | 18% |
| Comfort Fit Round Neck | Myntra | Rs. 713 | Rs. 849 | 16% |

| Pure Cotton Round Neck | Myntra | Rs. 730 | Rs. 849 | 14% |
Myntra shows you the ratings. AJIO does not show any
The sharpest difference between these two shelves is not a price at all. Fifty-six of Myntra's 76 listings carry a customer rating and a rating count, one of them with 71,699 ratings on a Rs. 283 polo. Zero of AJIO's 90 do.
That zero is a property of what AJIO publishes rather than of our reading: we dumped the raw product keys from a live AJIO search response the same morning and there is no average-rating, rating-count or review-count field in it at all. It describes the search and listing layer a browsing shopper uses; product pages may show something we did not read.
Practically, it changes how you shop each site. On Myntra you can use the rating count to separate a listing with 30,000 buyers behind it from one with none, which on that shelf correlates strongly with how modest the stated MRP is — the full breakdown is in our Myntra t-shirt page. On AJIO you have brand and price and nothing else, which is the same thing we found on its shoe shelf the same morning.
How this comparison was read, and what it does not tell you
The Myntra sample is 76 listings read from myntra.com's own listing pages on 4 September 2026 (/men-tshirts pages 1-3, /women-tshirts pages 1-2, /tshirts), taking price, maximum retail price, discount, rating and rating count from the data the listing page itself ships. The AJIO sample is 90 listings read from ajio.com's own search API the same morning for the queries “tshirts”, “men tshirt” and “women tshirt”, two pages each. Both were read as a logged-out visitor in India with nothing purchased and no account used. Every price, MRP and discount percentage is the retailer's own published figure reproduced without adjustment; medians, counts, bands and groupings are ours.
What that means for what you can conclude. The two samples are not constructed identically: AJIO's search returns a reference price only on discounted stock, so its sample is discounted stock by construction, while Myntra's includes full-price listings. That asymmetry is stated where it bears on a comparison and it means the discount-badge comparison is indicative rather than exact. Neither sample is a catalogue — these are the first pages each site returns in its default ordering, which is a popularity and promotion ordering, so nothing here is a claim about the cheapest or most expensive t-shirt either retailer sells, or about which retailer is cheaper overall across other categories. The U.S. Polo Assn. comparison matches on brand and price, not on style code or fabric, so those may be different garments. Prices change without notice and both sites re-rank continuously; coupon codes, bank card offers, membership benefits, shipping charges and anything applied at checkout are invisible in listing data and can move your final price in either direction, and the prices and terms shown at your checkout prevail over anything here. We cannot verify whether any stated maximum retail price on either shelf was ever a live selling price and make no claim either way; the comparison of reference prices is an observation about published fields, and no wrongdoing by Myntra, AJIO or any brand or seller named is alleged or implied. The statement that AJIO shows no ratings was verified against its raw search payload and describes the listing layer, not necessarily every page on the site. Nothing here is a judgement of fabric, fit, stitching, colourfastness, shrinkage or sizing accuracy: no t-shirt was handled, worn or washed by us.
Which shelf to use, and for what
Under Rs. 300, go to AJIO. Fifty of its 90 listings are there against ten of Myntra's, and most of that depth is DNMX at a median Rs. 152 off a median stated Rs. 299 — modest reference prices by the standards of either shelf.
If you want to see who else bought it, go to Myntra. It publishes a rating count on 56 of 76 listings and AJIO publishes none on 90. That is the difference between choosing on evidence and choosing on brand and price.
Ignore the badge on both. The two shelves report the same median stated MRP of Rs. 999 and prices Rs. 130 apart; within AJIO, stripping out one own-label brand moves the median stated MRP from Rs. 999 to Rs. 1,399 without changing anyone's price. The percentage is describing the reference number, not the garment.
The short version
Read the same morning, Myntra's t-shirt shelf has a median price of Rs. 415 and AJIO's Rs. 285 — off an identical median stated MRP of Rs. 999. Fifty of AJIO's 90 listings are under Rs. 300 against ten of Myntra's 76.
Most of AJIO's advantage is one own-label brand: DNMX is 29 of the 90 listings at a median Rs. 152 off a median stated Rs. 299. Remove it and AJIO's median price rises to Rs. 315 while its median stated MRP jumps to Rs. 1,399. On U.S. Polo Assn., the one brand both stock properly, AJIO runs Rs. 420–854 at 43–58% off and Myntra Rs. 594–730 at 14–18%. And Myntra shows a rating count on 56 of 76 listings while AJIO shows none on 90, because its search response carries no rating field at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Myntra or AJIO cheaper for t-shirts?
On the shelves we read on 4 September 2026, AJIO. Its 90 listings had a median price of Rs. 285 against Myntra's Rs. 415 across 76 listings, and 50 of AJIO's 90 were under Rs. 300 against 10 of Myntra's 76. The caveat worth carrying: most of that gap is AJIO's own label DNMX, which is 29 of the 90 listings at a median Rs. 152. Strip DNMX out and AJIO's median rises to Rs. 315 — still cheaper, but by Rs. 100 rather than Rs. 130. These are the first pages of each site's default ordering rather than full catalogues, so this compares two shelves on one morning, not the two retailers in general.
Why do AJIO t-shirts show bigger discounts than Myntra's?
Because of the reference price, and partly because of how the data is served. Both shelves report the same median stated MRP of Rs. 999, but AJIO's badge runs a median 65% against Myntra's 56%. Two things drive that. First, AJIO's search response only carries a reference price on discounted stock, so full-price listings are invisible to this sample while three of Myntra's 76 are at 0% off. Second, AJIO's non-own-label section is priced against much higher reference numbers — strip out DNMX and the median stated MRP on the remaining 61 AJIO listings is Rs. 1,399 with a 75% median badge. We cannot verify whether any stated MRP was ever a live selling price and allege no wrongdoing by either retailer.
What is DNMX and why is it so cheap on AJIO?
DNMX is AJIO's own label, and it is 29 of the 90 t-shirt listings we read — nearly a third of the shelf. Its median price is Rs. 152 against a median stated MRP of Rs. 299, a 49% badge. Those are the most modest reference prices on either shelf: a DNMX tee at Rs. 127 marked down from Rs. 249 is a claim that does not need much interpretation. It is also the single reason AJIO's shelf median sits so far below Myntra's. We did not handle or wear any of these, so nothing here speaks to the fabric or fit; this is about what the listings cost and what they are measured against.
Does AJIO show customer ratings on t-shirts?
Not on the listing pages. We checked the raw response from AJIO's own search API on 4 September 2026 and it contains no rating, rating-count or review-count field at all, so none of the 90 listings we read showed one. Myntra, by contrast, published a rating count on 56 of its 76 listings, including a Moda Rapido polo with 71,699 ratings at 4.21. This describes the search and listing layer that shoppers browse rather than every page on either site. Practically, it means you can filter Myntra's shelf for listings with real customer histories and you cannot do that on AJIO's.
Which store is better for buying a branded t-shirt?
The only brand with a real presence on both shelves in our samples was U.S. Polo Assn. On AJIO its six listings ran Rs. 420 to Rs. 854, badged 43–58% off stated MRPs of Rs. 999–1,499. On Myntra its five ran Rs. 594 to Rs. 730, badged 14–18% off stated MRPs of Rs. 699–849. So AJIO's entry price for the brand was lower and Myntra's reference prices were lower. We matched on brand and price rather than style code, so these may be different garments — check the exact product before treating it as the same tee at two prices. Myntra's advantage is that you can see how many people have rated the listing before you decide.
Prices & codes last verified: 4 September 2026
The Myntra sample behind this page is 76 listings read from myntra.com's own listing pages on 4 September 2026 (/men-tshirts pages 1 to 3, /women-tshirts pages 1 and 2, and /tshirts), using the price, maximum retail price, discount, rating and rating-count fields the listing page itself ships. The AJIO sample is 90 listings read from ajio.com's own search API the same morning for the queries tshirts, men tshirt and women tshirt, two pages each. Both were read as served to a logged-out visitor in India with nothing purchased and no account used, and every price, maximum retail price and discount percentage is the retailer's own published figure reproduced without adjustment; medians, counts, price bands and brand groupings are ours. The two samples are not constructed identically: AJIO's search response carries a reference-price field only on discounted stock, so the AJIO sample is discounted stock by construction while the Myntra sample includes full-price listings, three of which are at 0% off. That asymmetry is stated wherever it bears on a comparison and it makes the discount-badge comparison indicative rather than exact. Neither sample is a catalogue: these are the first pages each site returns in its default popularity-and-promotion ordering, so nothing here is a claim about the cheapest or most expensive t-shirt either retailer sells, about their full ranges, or about which retailer is cheaper in any other category. The U.S. Polo Assn. comparison matches listings on brand and price rather than on style code, fabric or fit, so the garments compared may not be the same products. Prices change without notice and both sites re-rank continuously, so these figures are a snapshot of one morning; coupon codes, bank card offers, membership benefits, shipping charges and anything applied at checkout are not visible in listing data and can move your final price in either direction, and the prices and terms shown at your checkout prevail over anything here. We cannot verify whether any stated maximum retail price on either shelf was ever a live selling price and make no claim either way; comparisons of reference prices and of brand-level medians are observations about published fields, and no wrongdoing by Myntra, AJIO or by any brand or seller named is alleged or implied. The statement that AJIO publishes no customer ratings was verified against the raw search payload and describes the search and listing layer rather than necessarily every page on the site; Myntra's ratings and rating counts are its own and unaudited by us, and we did not read the underlying reviews. Nothing here is a judgement of fabric quality, fit, stitching, colourfastness, shrinkage, wash durability or sizing accuracy: no t-shirt was handled, worn or washed by us, and neither a discount percentage nor a customer rating is a recommendation to buy. Zoutons may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page; it does not change what you pay, and nothing here was reviewed or approved by Myntra, AJIO or any brand named.
