Nineteen of Twenty-Two Courses Cost Exactly Rs. 399
We read 22 course cards in Udemy's development category on 22 August 2026, each carrying a selling price and a struck-through list price. Nineteen of them sell at Rs. 399. The other three are Rs. 409, Rs. 449 and Rs. 469, so the entire price range on the page is seventy rupees wide.

Course length does not move the price. The Java Masterclass on that table advertises 130-plus hours of lessons. The Complete Prompt Engineering for AI Bootcamp is a considerably shorter course. Both are Rs. 399. So are the Python bootcamp, the React guide, the full-stack bootcamp and the machine-learning course. Whatever you are paying for at Rs. 399, it is not measured in hours.
What the Badge Is Actually Telling You
If every course costs the same, the discount percentage cannot be describing your saving. It is describing the list price Udemy has assigned to that course, and those fall into clear bands.

The pattern is legible once you sort it this way. Every 50 per cent badge in the read belongs to one of Udemy's newer AI courses - Claude Code and coding agents, the agentic AI track, prompt engineering, the OpenAI API introduction - and all four carry a list price of Rs. 799 or Rs. 819. Every 88 or 89 per cent badge belongs to a long-established bootcamp with a list price above Rs. 3,000.
One course breaks the pattern in a way worth noting: the AI Engineer Core Track states Rs. 3,289 and shows 88 per cent, putting a new AI course in the bootcamp band rather than the Rs. 799 one. And Performance Testing 2026 sits alone at Rs. 1,919, the only list price in the read between Rs. 819 and Rs. 3,199. Neither changes what you pay.
So What Is a Udemy Coupon Code For?
Three things, none of which is the Rs. 399 you can already see.
Instructor coupons. Course creators can generate their own discount links, usually to promote a new course or to give a cohort free or reduced access. These are real, they are issued by the instructor rather than by Udemy, and they are the coupons that occasionally beat the storefront price - typically on smaller courses rather than the bootcamps on this page.
Business and team purchases. Udemy Business is priced per seat and negotiated, and has nothing to do with the consumer catalogue prices above.
Payment-side offers. Card and wallet promotions applied at checkout sit on top of whatever the storefront is charging. These are the ones worth checking on a Rs. 399 purchase, because they are the only mechanism in this list that reduces a price that is already at the floor.

The four things that genuinely change what you pay
