Five car-accessory searches on amazon.in, read within an hour of each other on 28 September 2026. The median discount badge on wiper blades is 8.5%. On car body covers, on the same shelf, it is 66.5%.
The gap is not explained by price - wipers and dashboard polish cost about the same and show 8.5% against 53%. It is explained by who sets the MRP. Below: the five aisles side by side, the nine Bosch listings that hold an entire badge range between 0% and 16%, why the shallowest aisle has 35 times more published feedback than the deepest, and the seven listings we threw out.
📅 Update log:
28 September 2026 — first published. All 134 listings were read the same morning from amazon.in's own search results for 'car cover', 'car seat cover', 'car wiper blade', 'car vacuum cleaner' and 'car dashboard polish', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Sponsored placements were dropped, ASINs deduped, and listings without a stated MRP excluded. Seven listings stating an MRP exactly 100.00x the price were excluded from every figure, leaving 127.
Five aisles on one shelf, and a badge that ranges from 8% to 67%
Every figure below was read from amazon.in's own search results on the morning of 28 September 2026 - 134 listings across five car-accessory searches, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. The median discount badge on wiper blades is 8.5%. On car body covers it is 66.5%. Same shop, same shelf, same morning.
That is not a small gap and it is not about how much the things cost. Wipers (median Rs. 379) and dashboard polish (median Rs. 449) sit in roughly the same money, and their badges are 8.5% and 53%. The car covers that carry the biggest percentages are mid-priced at Rs. 948; the vacuums at Rs. 1,747 are the dearest aisle and still show 52%.
What actually separates them is who is selling. One aisle is a component brand you would recognise from a service centre. The other four are marketplace labels. The badge follows that split almost perfectly, and the rest of this page is the evidence.
| Aisle, read 28 Sep 2026 | Listings | Median price | Median stated MRP | Median badge | Badge range |
|---|
| Car wiper blades | 10 | Rs. 379 | Rs. 411 | 8.5% | 0% to 50% |
| Car seat covers | 31 | Rs. 999 | Rs. 1,999 | 50% | 13% to 81% |
| Car vacuum cleaners | 33 | Rs. 1,747 | Rs. 3,999 | 52% | 17% to 85% |
| Dashboard polish | 15 | Rs. 449 | Rs. 845 | 53% | 32% to 75% |
| Car body covers | 38 | Rs. 948 | Rs. 2,599 | 66.5% | 25% to 88% |
The one-line version: on this shelf the discount percentage tells you which aisle you are standing in, not whether you are getting a deal. The aisle showing you 8% is the one where a named component brand sets the price; the aisle showing you 67% is the one where the seller also chose the number it is striking through.
Bosch holds nine of the ten wiper listings — and the whole badge range
The wiper aisle is the cleanest thing in this read because it is almost a single brand. Nine of the ten wiper-blade listings are Bosch, and its nine badges are 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 9%, 10%, 12% and 16%. The tenth listing - an unbranded 26-inch blade - is the only one at 50%, and it is also the only wiper in the read rated below 4.0 stars.
Look at what those Bosch numbers mean in money. A Bosch ECO 21-inch blade is Rs. 241 against a stated MRP of Rs. 242 - a one-rupee discount, displayed as 0%. The ClearAdvantage 24-inch is Rs. 505 against Rs. 515. These are listings where the stated MRP is a real list price the brand has to stand behind, so there is almost no room between it and the checkout figure.
Now the car covers next door. The median cover sells at Rs. 948 against a median stated MRP of Rs. 2,599 - the seller is striking through 2.7 times its own asking price. Twenty-seven of those 38 covers name a specific car (Baleno, Alto K10, Grand i10, Nexon, Swift) and 25 print the word 'waterproof'. We have not tested any of that; it is the listings' own text.
| Wiper listing | Price | Stated MRP | Badge | Ratings |
|---|
| Bosch ECO 21 inch, single | Rs. 241 | Rs. 242 | 0% | 750 |
| Bosch ECO 22/16 inch, set | Rs. 379 | Rs. 414 | 8% | 5,658 |
| Bosch ECO 24/16 inch, set | Rs. 405 | Rs. 444 | 9% | 4,563 |
| Bosch ClearAdvantage 24 inch | Rs. 505 | Rs. 515 | 2% | 2,788 |
| Bosch ClearAdvantage 22 inch | Rs. 379 | Rs. 450 | 16% | 1,829 |
| Bosch ECO 16 inch, single | Rs. 163 | Rs. 182 | 10% | 1,049 |
| Unbranded 26 inch, four strips | Rs. 499 | Rs. 999 | 50% | 46 |
The shallowest aisle has the biggest crowd behind it
If the badge were a guide to value you would expect the deep-discount aisles to be the popular ones. They are not. The median wiper listing carries 1,494 ratings. The median seat-cover listing carries 42.
Seat covers are the weakest aisle on this measure by a distance: only 6 of 31 listings have even 100 ratings, while the aisle's median badge is 50%. Car vacuums (median 932 ratings), dashboard polish (584) and car covers (361) sit in between. So the ordering of published feedback is close to the reverse of the ordering of discount percentages.
Two honest caveats before anyone reads too much into that. First, a rating count measures how long a listing has been selling as much as how good the product is - Bosch has been on this shelf for years. Second, the star averages are not flattering anywhere: the best-known car covers here sit at 3.7 and 3.8 stars across 23,784 and 8,876 ratings, which is low for a category people buy once.
| Aisle | Median ratings per listing | Largest single count | Listings with 100+ ratings |
|---|
| Car wiper blades | 1,494 | 5,658 | 9 of 10 |
| Car vacuum cleaners | 932 | 20,492 | 27 of 33 |
| Dashboard polish | 584 | 24,321 | 12 of 15 |
| Car body covers | 361 | 23,784 | 29 of 38 |
| Car seat covers | 42 | 4,437 | 6 of 31 |
Worth knowing before you filter by discount: the single best-rated thing in this read is a Rs. 1,747 AGARO handheld vacuum with 20,492 ratings at 4.0 stars - and its badge is 17%, one of the smallest outside the wiper aisle. The 85% vacuum listings in the same search carry a small fraction of that feedback.
Seven listings state an MRP exactly 100 times their price
This needs naming because it distorts any average taken off this shelf. Seven of the 134 listings state an MRP that is exactly 100.00 times the selling price. A car cover for an Alto 800 at Rs. 489 against a stated Rs. 48,900. A car vacuum at Rs. 1,199 against Rs. 1,19,900. An air blower at Rs. 2,799 against Rs. 2,79,900. A dashboard polish at Rs. 799 against Rs. 79,900.
All seven display a 99% badge, which is what a 100x ratio produces. The pattern - a round factor of exactly 100, across seven unrelated sellers in four different aisles - reads like a price entered in paise rather than rupees somewhere in a feed. We have excluded all seven from every median, range and count on this page, which is why the figures here describe 127 listings rather than 134.
We are describing what the tiles displayed and drawing no conclusion about anyone's conduct. Stating a high MRP is legal and commonplace in Indian retail, and a data fault in a feed is a data fault, not a claim about a seller. But a 99% badge on this shelf is worth nothing, and if you are sorting by discount it is the first thing you will see.
What we would actually do
For wipers, ignore the percentage entirely - there isn't one. Bosch's range here runs Rs. 163 for a single 16-inch ECO blade to Rs. 505 for a 24-inch ClearAdvantage, and the sets (Rs. 376 to Rs. 405 for a matched pair) are where the volume of feedback sits. The only deep discount in the aisle is on the one listing nobody has rated well.
For car covers, the percentage is close to meaningless because the seller set both numbers, so compare the rupee prices of the covers that name your car. In this read that band ran Rs. 933 to Rs. 1,299 for the most-rated Maruti and Hyundai covers, against 'premium' listings at Rs. 2,600 to Rs. 2,779 with far fewer ratings behind them.
For seat covers, treat this shelf carefully. It has the deepest badges outside car covers and by far the thinnest published feedback - 25 of its 31 listings have under 100 ratings - and fit is the one thing a photograph cannot tell you. Nothing here was bought or fitted to a car, so this page is a record of what Amazon listed on 28 September 2026, not a recommendation about any product.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are car wiper blades barely discounted on Amazon?
Because that aisle is effectively one brand. Nine of the ten wiper listings in our 28 September 2026 read are Bosch, and its badges run from 0% to 16% - a Bosch ECO 21-inch blade was Rs. 241 against a stated MRP of Rs. 242. A component brand that also sells through workshops carries a list price it has to stand behind, so there is very little gap between that figure and the checkout price. The one non-Bosch wiper in the read showed 50% off and had 46 ratings against Bosch's thousands.
Is a 70% discount on an Amazon car cover a real saving?
It is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose. The median car cover in this read sold at Rs. 948 against a median stated MRP of Rs. 2,599 - the listing is striking through 2.7 times its own asking price. We have not verified that any cover ever sold at its stated MRP, so the percentage is not a measured saving. Compare the rupee prices of covers that name your specific car instead; the most-rated Maruti and Hyundai covers here sat between Rs. 933 and Rs. 1,299.
What does a car vacuum cleaner cost on Amazon?
In this read, Rs. 296 to Rs. 3,699 across 33 listings, with a median of Rs. 1,747 and a median badge of 52%. The listing with the most published feedback by a wide margin was an AGARO handheld at Rs. 1,747 with 20,492 ratings at 4.0 stars - and a badge of just 17%. Stated figures like '18000Pa' and wattages are the listings' own printed claims; we did not test suction on anything.
Why do some Amazon car listings show 99% off?
In this read, seven listings stated an MRP exactly 100.00 times their selling price - Rs. 489 against Rs. 48,900, Rs. 1,199 against Rs. 1,19,900, Rs. 2,799 against Rs. 2,79,900 and four more, across four different aisles and unrelated sellers. An exact factor of 100 reads like a price recorded in paise somewhere in a feed rather than a real list price. We excluded all seven from every figure on this page. No wrongdoing by Amazon or any seller is alleged.
Which car accessories on Amazon have the most customer ratings?
Wiper blades, which is the aisle with the smallest discounts. The median wiper listing carries 1,494 ratings; the median seat-cover listing carries 42. Car vacuums sit at a median of 932, dashboard polish at 584 and car covers at 361. Bear in mind a rating count reflects how long a listing has been selling as much as product quality, and the star averages on car covers are modest - the two most-rated covers here were 3.8 and 3.7 stars.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count was read on 28 September 2026 from amazon.in's own search results for 'car cover', 'car seat cover', 'car wiper blade', 'car vacuum cleaner' and 'car dashboard polish', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Sponsored placements were dropped, ASINs deduped, and listings that stated no MRP were excluded, leaving 134 distinct listings; seven of those state an MRP exactly 100.00 times the selling price and are excluded from every median, range and count on this page, so all figures here describe 127 listings on that date rather than Amazon's full catalogue. A product sold on Amazon that did not appear in these five searches does not appear here. Amazon search results are partly personalised and change continuously, so a different reader will not see the same set. An MRP is the figure the listing displays and we have not verified that any product sold at it, so every percentage on this page is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose rather than a measured saving; stating a high MRP is legal and commonplace across Indian retail, and no wrongdoing by Amazon, Bosch, FABTEC, Auto Hub, Kingsway, Autofact, Neodrift, AGARO, BLACK+DECKER, Jakmister, Foxcare, HSR or any other brand or seller named or unnamed is alleged or implied. The seven listings stating a 100x MRP are described as a probable data fault - a price recorded in paise - and no claim is made about how any seller entered its figures. Vehicle-fit claims, 'waterproof', 'all weather', 'unbreakable body', stated suction figures such as 18000Pa, stated wattages, blade sizes and every other description quoted here are the listings' own printed text, reproduced as printed and not verified; a specification stated in a title is a claim, not a measurement. We did not buy, unbox, fit, install or run any product on this page; fit on any particular car, paint and trim safety, waterproofing in real rain, blade life, suction, motor durability, warranty service and spare-part availability are not published on these tiles, have not been examined by us, and no claim about them is made or implied. Fitting a wiper blade, body cover or seat cover to a vehicle is done at your own risk and we offer no view on road safety. Rating counts reflect how long a listing has been selling as much as product quality, and where several listings display identical counts we describe what the tiles showed and draw no conclusion about any seller's conduct. Product photographs are the listings' own images as published by Amazon. Prices change without notice and can differ at checkout after coupons, bank offers or delivery charges; the price shown at your checkout prevails over anything here.
