Flipkart's Terms of Use make rudeness to a delivery partner a published ground for losing access to the platform — "at Our absolute discretion", with no threshold and no stated appeal.
The same terms name exactly four things that can happen to an account, define none of them, and list five email behaviours that can trigger them — one of which is simply offering to do the deal off the platform. Read from flipkart.com/pages/terms on 31 October 2026; nothing was tested.

Flipkart's Terms of Use say that being rude to a delivery partner can cost you access to Flipkart. The Customer Conduct section states it directly: "We reserve the right to withhold access to the Platform and otherwise limit Your access to the Platform at Our absolute discretion if You behave towards any delivery partner working with Flipkart in a manner which is discourteous, disrespectful, or abusive."
Elsewhere the same terms list exactly four things that can happen to an account — limits on account privileges, account suspension, cancellation of listings and loss of special status — and five email behaviours that can trigger them. One of those five is not abuse at all. Everything below is quoted from flipkart.com/pages/terms, read on 31 October 2026. No account was tested, reported or appealed.
The four consequences, as the terms list them
| Consequence | What the terms say about it |
|---|
| Limits on account privileges | Not defined in the terms — no list of which privileges |
| Account suspension | Not defined in the terms — no stated duration or appeal route |
| Cancellation of listings | Applies to users who list; buyers have nothing to cancel |
| Loss of special status | Not defined in the terms — "special status" is not explained |
The list appears verbatim in the Email Abuse & Threat Policy: violations "may result in a range of actions, including: Limits on account privileges / Account suspension / Cancellation of listings / Loss of special status." The word "including" is doing work — the four are examples, not an exhaustive list.
None of the four is defined anywhere else on the page. The terms do not say which privileges can be limited, how long a suspension runs, what "special status" is, or whether any of it can be appealed. For an ordinary buyer, "cancellation of listings" is the only one that clearly does not apply, because buyers do not list anything.
Customer Conduct: the delivery-partner clause
| What the clause covers | Flipkart's published wording |
|---|
| Discrimination against delivery partners | "Flipkart prohibits discrimination against delivery partners under any circumstances and on any grounds" |
| Discourteous, disrespectful or abusive behaviour | "We reserve the right to withhold access to the Platform ... at Our absolute discretion" |
| Inappropriate or unlawful behaviour | Same clause — "or which otherwise may be deemed to be inappropriate or unlawful" |
| The baseline the terms set | "You are expected to treat all delivery partners with courtesy and respect" |
Two words in this clause matter more than the rest: "absolute discretion". The terms do not set a threshold for what counts as discourteous, do not require a complaint to be substantiated, and do not describe a process for contesting the decision. The standard it sets for you is plain: "You are expected to treat all delivery partners with courtesy and respect."
The section opens on anti-discrimination, not on shopper behaviour. Flipkart states that it "fosters diversity, inclusion, equity and protect the individuals who are engaged with us as delivery partners from any discrimination", and that it "prohibits discrimination against delivery partners under any circumstances and on any grounds including on the basis of race, religion, caste, place of origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, gender identity, age". The access-withdrawal clause follows from that, rather than from a fraud or payment concern.
The five email triggers, and the odd one out
| Trigger named in the terms | What Flipkart says |
|---|
| Threats of Bodily Harm | "Flipkart does not permit Users to send explicit threats of bodily harm" |
| Misuse of Flipkart System | Flipkart "will investigate any misuse of this service" |
| Spoof (Fake) email | "Flipkart will never ask you to provide sensitive information through email" — report spoofs via Contact Us |
| Spam (Unsolicited Commercial email) | "Flipkart Users are not allowed to send spam messages to other Users" |
| Offers to Buy or Sell Outside of Flipkart | "Flipkart prohibits email offers to buy or sell listed products outside of the Flipkart Platform" — "a potential fraud risk for both Buyers and Sellers" |
Four of the five are what you would expect. Threats, system misuse, spoofed mail and spam are standard platform prohibitions, and the terms add that "Flipkart policy prohibits user-to-user threats of physical harm via any method including, phone, email and on Our public message boards" — so the threat rule is not limited to email at all.
The fifth is different: "Offers to Buy or Sell Outside of Flipkart". Emailing a seller to say you will buy the same item directly and skip the platform is, by this policy, a violation that sits alongside spam and spoofing on the same consequence list. Flipkart gives its reason — such offers are "a potential fraud risk for both Buyers and Sellers" — and it is worth knowing that the prohibition exists, because it is the one on the list a reasonable person might not guess.
The terms also disclaim the channel itself. "Private communication, including email correspondence, is not regulated by Flipkart", it says, before setting out the instances it will nevertheless "investigate and can take action on".
A separate blacklist exists just for reviews
Review enforcement runs on its own track. The terms state that Flipkart "shall have the right to delete a product review posted by the customer at its sole discretion" where it considers the review contains offensive language, or where it considers the review unfairly either "(i) causes disadvantage to a product; or (ii) increases the popularity of the product".
And beyond deletion: "Flipkart shall also, at its sole discretion have the right to blacklist the customer from posting any further customer reviews." That is a distinct penalty from the four account consequences above — it removes your ability to review without touching your ability to buy. The terms also require that reviews "must be genuine and based on your actual experience with the product", must not contain personal information, and must not promote other products or services; only buyers with verified purchases can leave them.
Every rule and consequence on this page is quoted or closely paraphrased from flipkart.com/pages/terms, read once, on 31 October 2026, logged out, from India. No account was tested, reported, restricted, suspended or appealed, and no claim is made about how often Flipkart acts on any of these clauses or how it decides to. Flipkart can change its terms without notice — read the live page.
The clause most likely to catch an ordinary shopper is the delivery-partner one. It is not about fraud or payments; it is about how you behave at the door, and Flipkart reserves access withdrawal "at Our absolute discretion" with no stated appeal. The second is the off-platform offer — proposing by email to buy or sell a listed product outside Flipkart sits on the same consequence list as spam and spoofing. Keep the transaction on the platform and the conversation civil, and neither clause is in play.
Five things the terms actually say about your account
One: four consequences are named — limits on privileges, suspension, cancellation of listings, loss of special status — and none of the four is defined. Two: the list is prefaced with "including", so it is not exhaustive. Three: rudeness to a delivery partner is a published ground for withholding platform access, at Flipkart's absolute discretion.
Four: offering to deal off-platform by email is prohibited, and is grouped with threats, spam and spoofing. Five: review blacklisting is separate and can be applied at Flipkart's sole discretion without affecting your ability to buy. None of this is legal advice, and the live terms govern — they change without notice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Flipkart suspend your account for being rude to a delivery agent?
Flipkart's published Customer Conduct terms reserve that right. The clause reads: "We reserve the right to withhold access to the Platform and otherwise limit Your access to the Platform at Our absolute discretion if You behave towards any delivery partner working with Flipkart in a manner which is discourteous, disrespectful, or abusive, or which otherwise may be deemed to be inappropriate or unlawful." The terms set no threshold, no process and no appeal route, and state the expectation plainly: "You are expected to treat all delivery partners with courtesy and respect." We make no claim about how often Flipkart acts on this.
What are the four consequences listed in Flipkart's terms?
Limits on account privileges, account suspension, cancellation of listings, and loss of special status. They appear together in the Email Abuse & Threat Policy, prefaced by "Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including" — so the four are examples rather than a closed list. None of them is defined elsewhere in the terms: there is no statement of which privileges can be limited, how long a suspension lasts, what "special status" means, or whether any of it can be appealed.
Is it against Flipkart's rules to contact a seller to buy outside the platform?
Yes, by the published policy. "Offers to Buy or Sell Outside of Flipkart" is one of five named triggers in the Email Abuse & Threat Policy: "Flipkart prohibits email offers to buy or sell listed products outside of the Flipkart Platform." The terms give the reason — such offers are "a potential fraud risk for both Buyers and Sellers" — and group the behaviour with spam, spoofed email, system misuse and threats of bodily harm on the same consequence list.
Can Flipkart stop you from leaving reviews?
The terms reserve that right separately from any account action: "Flipkart shall also, at its sole discretion have the right to blacklist the customer from posting any further customer reviews." Flipkart also reserves the right to delete an individual review it considers offensive, or one it considers unfairly "(i) causes disadvantage to a product; or (ii) increases the popularity of the product". Reviews must be genuine, based on actual experience, free of personal information, and only buyers with verified purchases can leave them.
Does Flipkart monitor your emails?
The terms say the opposite as a general rule, then carve out exceptions. "Private communication, including email correspondence, is not regulated by Flipkart" — but Flipkart "will investigate and can take action on certain types of unwanted emails that violate Flipkart policies", and names five. The threat rule is explicitly wider than email: policy "prohibits user-to-user threats of physical harm via any method including, phone, email and on Our public message boards." This is the policy as published; we tested nothing.

Every rule, consequence and quoted clause on this page was read from flipkart.com/pages/terms on 31 October 2026, logged out, from India. No account was tested, reported, restricted, suspended, blacklisted or appealed, and no claim is made about how often Flipkart acts on any of these clauses, how it decides to, or what happens in any individual case. Quoted text is reproduced as published; the surrounding explanation is our own reading of it and is not legal advice. This page is a plain-language summary of a long legal document and is not a substitute for it — where anything here differs from the live terms, the live terms govern. Flipkart is free to change, add to or withdraw any of these terms at any time without notice, so the rules in force when you read this may not be the rules quoted here. Where the terms leave a consequence undefined, we say so rather than filling the gap: we do not know which privileges can be limited, how long a suspension runs, what "special status" means, or what appeal routes exist in practice. Nothing on this page alleges wrongdoing by Flipkart or by any user, seller or delivery partner; setting conduct rules, platform access conditions and review moderation policies are ordinary marketplace practices, reported here as published fact, and the anti-discrimination commitments quoted are Flipkart's own stated position.
