Two chocolate gift boxes priced in this read of Amazon's shelf - the Rs. 107 Cadbury Celebrations assorted pack and the Rs. 796 Ferrero Rocher 300 g, 24-piece box - shown as they appear in their own listing photographs

Two listings, eight rupees apart, at the top of Amazon's chocolate gift shelf. A Cadbury Celebrations assorted pack of 51.2 grams is Rs. 99. The same range at 119.2 grams is Rs. 107. That is Rs. 193.36 per 100 g against Rs. 89.77 - the smaller box costs more than twice the rate.

And the smaller box is the one the shelf promotes, because it is the only Celebrations tile here with a usable maximum retail price, so it shows 49% off while the bigger one shows nothing. Twenty-four of these forty listings state an MRP below their own selling price - and that number, as on Amazon's dry fruit shelf, is the price per 100 grams. Below: how to use it, and the Ferrero box sold twice.

📅 Update log:
1 October 2026 — first published. The shelf was read on the morning of 1 October 2026 from amazon.in's own search results for 'chocolate gift box', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased; 40 listings were returned. Weights described as implied are our own arithmetic over two figures each listing publishes, compared against the weight the same listing prints in its title wherever it prints one. Every price, stated MRP, badge, star average and rating count quoted here was read on that date.

Rs. 8 more buys 2.3 times the chocolate

We read Amazon's whole 'chocolate gift box' shelf on the morning of 1 October 2026, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Forty listings came back, and the first two in price order are the whole story. A Cadbury Celebrations assorted pack of 51.2 g costs Rs. 99. The same range at 119.2 g costs Rs. 107.

Eight rupees, for 2.33 times the chocolate. Per 100 grams that is Rs. 193.36 against Rs. 89.77 - the small box is more than twice the rate. Both are Cadbury, both are assorted packs, both were on the same search page the same morning, and the shelf sorts them next to each other because their tickets are eight rupees apart.

There is a reason the Rs. 99 box appears first on a discount sort, and it is not a good one. It is the only Celebrations tile on this shelf with a usable maximum retail price - Rs. 193 against Rs. 99, a 49% badge. The 119.2 g box states Rs. 89, which is below its own price, so it shows 0% off and sinks. The badge and the value point in opposite directions.

Rich Dry Fruit Collection177 gRs. 599Rs. 338.420%
The one-line version: on this shelf the 51.2 g Cadbury box is the one with a discount badge and the one costing twice as much per gram. Eight rupees more buys the 119.2 g box.

That MRP field is the price per 100 grams, again

Twenty-four of the 40 listings here state a maximum retail price below their own selling price and therefore show 0% off. We found the same thing on Amazon's dry fruit gift shelf the same morning, and the explanation holds on this shelf too: that number is the price per 100 grams.

It is checkable because 15 of the 40 also print a weight. Of the 11 listings where both figures are published, 10 recover the stated weight exactly. Rs. 599 divided by Rs. 338, times a hundred, is 177 grams - and the title says 177 g. Rs. 796 over Rs. 265 is 300 grams, and the title says 300 g. Rs. 148 over Rs. 81 gives 183 against 181.5 stated. Ten times running is not coincidence.

Which turns the shelf's worst-filled field into its most useful one. Many of these boxes do not state a weight anywhere a shopper can see - they state a piece count, or nothing. Divide the price by the number in the MRP field and multiply by a hundred, and you have the grams. A Rs. 115 Cadbury combo implies 202 g; a Rs. 999 Lindt truffle box implies 200 g; a Rs. 899 24-piece truffle pack implies 391 g.

The same Ferrero box, twice, Rs. 34 apart

Ferrero Rocher's 300 gram, 24-piece box appears twice in this read: at Rs. 796 showing 0% off, and at Rs. 830 showing 76% off a stated maximum retail price of Rs. 3,458. Same stated weight, same stated piece count, Rs. 34 between them.

The Rs. 796 tile has the per-100g rate in its MRP field - Rs. 265, which recovers 300 grams exactly - so it can display no discount at all. The Rs. 830 tile has a figure 4.17 times its own price, which produces the second-deepest badge on the shelf. A shopper sorting by discount sees the dearer box first, and sees it described as 76% off.

The rating counts differ, 10,712 against 3,302, so these are two listings rather than one listed twice, and both are substantial. Per 100 grams they are Rs. 265.33 and Rs. 276.67 - a 4% difference that the 76% badge entirely obscures. We did not buy or open either; the weights and piece counts are the listings' own printed text.

What the rate actually buys, from Rs. 82 to Rs. 471 per 100 g

Across every listing where a rate can be computed, the shelf runs Rs. 81.54 to Rs. 471.50 per 100 grams - and the ends are exactly what you would expect once you can see them. The cheap end is mass-market assorted boxes: a KitKat mini gift box at Rs. 81.54, Cadbury Celebrations at Rs. 89.77 and Rs. 92.81. The dear end is premium hampers: a Chokola at Rs. 471.50, Cadbury's Rich Dry Fruit Collection at Rs. 338.42.

The interesting cases are in the middle, where brands overlap. Ferrero Rocher's 69.6 g, 12-piece Moments box is Rs. 281.61 per 100 g while its own 300 g box is Rs. 265.33 - so the big box is cheaper per gram, which is normal, but only by 6%. Cadbury's Premium Selections at Rs. 183.44 is twice its own standard assorted pack at Rs. 89.77, for a 163 g box against a 119.2 g one.

None of which says the premium boxes are bad value. A gift box is bought for the box as much as the chocolate, and a 24-piece Ferrero tray and a Celebrations carton are not the same object. The point is narrower: the rate is computable on most of this shelf, it varies by 5.8x, and the discount badge predicts none of it. Twenty-seven of the forty listings show 0% off, including every cheap Cadbury box on the page.

Before you buy: divide. Price over the MRP field, times a hundred, gives the grams on the 24 listings whose MRP sits below their price; price over the grams, times a hundred, gives the rate. On this shelf that single sum shows an Rs. 8 gap buying 2.33 times the chocolate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a chocolate gift box cost on Amazon in October 2026?
In this read of 40 listings, Rs. 99 to Rs. 1,899 with a median of Rs. 461.50. By weight, where a rate can be computed, the shelf runs Rs. 81.54 to Rs. 471.50 per 100 grams. Mass-market assorted boxes from Cadbury and Nestlé sit between Rs. 82 and Rs. 93 per 100 g; Ferrero Rocher sits around Rs. 265 to Rs. 282; premium hampers reach Rs. 471. These figures describe the 40 listings returned on 1 October 2026, not Amazon's full catalogue.
Which Cadbury Celebrations box is best value on Amazon?
In this read, the 119.2 g assorted pack at Rs. 107, which works out at Rs. 89.77 per 100 g. The 51.2 g pack at Rs. 99 is Rs. 193.36 per 100 g - more than twice the rate for eight rupees less. The 172.4 g pack at Rs. 160 is Rs. 92.81, effectively the same rate as the 119.2 g one. The Premium Selections at Rs. 299 for 163 g is Rs. 183.44 and the Rich Dry Fruit Collection at Rs. 599 for 177 g is Rs. 338.42, so the premium ranges cost two to four times the standard pack per gram.
Why does a chocolate gift box show an MRP lower than its price?
Because on this shelf that field holds the price per 100 grams rather than a list price. Twenty-four of the 40 listings state an MRP below their own selling price and show 0% off, and of the 11 where a weight is also printed, 10 recover that weight exactly when you divide the price by the field and multiply by a hundred. Rs. 796 over Rs. 265 gives 300 g on a box whose title says 300 g. The same pattern appears on Amazon's dry fruit gift shelf. MRP data errors are common across Indian marketplaces and no wrongdoing by Amazon or any seller is alleged.
Is the Ferrero Rocher 300 g box cheaper on one listing than another?
Yes, by Rs. 34 - and the cheaper one shows no discount. The 24-piece 300 g box appeared at Rs. 796 with a 0% badge and at Rs. 830 with a 76% badge off a stated Rs. 3,458. Per 100 g that is Rs. 265.33 against Rs. 276.67, a 4% difference which the 76% badge completely obscures. The two listings publish different rating counts - 10,712 and 3,302 - so they are separate listings rather than one product shown twice. We did not buy or open either box.
How can I work out the weight of a chocolate gift box that does not state one?
On the 24 listings here whose stated MRP sits below their selling price, divide the price by that figure and multiply by a hundred. It reproduces the printed weight exactly on 10 of the 11 listings where both are published, so it is a reliable reading of what that field contains. On that basis a Rs. 115 Cadbury combo implies 202 g, a Rs. 999 Lindt truffle box implies 200 g, and a Rs. 899 24-piece truffle pack implies 391 g. One listing disagrees with itself - a Rs. 1,886 hamper states 400 g while its field implies 500 g - and we report that as read without any claim about its contents.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count here was read on 1 October 2026 from amazon.in's own search results for 'chocolate gift box', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased; 40 listings were returned. Every count, median, range and rate on this page describes those 40 listings on that date rather than Amazon's full catalogue, and a chocolate gift box sold there that did not appear in these results does not appear here; search results are ranked, partly personalised and change continuously, so a different reader will not see the same set. Weights described as implied or recovered are our own arithmetic - the selling price divided by the figure in the listing's MRP field, multiplied by one hundred - and are not measurements; we did not buy, open, weigh or eat any item on this page, and nothing here is a claim that any box contains more or less than it states. Where that arithmetic disagrees with the weight a listing prints in its own title, as it does on one listing, both figures are reported as published and no conclusion is drawn about the contents. Two listings for a 300 gram Ferrero Rocher box publish different rating counts and are treated as separate listings rather than as one product listed twice. MRP data errors are common across Indian marketplaces, and nothing on this page is an allegation of mispricing, short weight, misleading advertising or any breach of the Legal Metrology Act, the Consumer Protection Act, the Packaged Commodities Rules, the Food Safety and Standards Act or any other law, rule or platform policy by Amazon Seller Services Private Limited or by Mondelez, Cadbury, Ferrero, Nestlé, Lindt, Hershey's, Chokola, CookieMan, Loyka, Open Secret, Farmley, WINNI, TIED RIBBONS, Pure Temptation, Chocoloony, Ruchoks or any other brand or seller named or unnamed, and no wrongdoing is alleged or implied. An MRP is the figure the listing displays and we have not verified that any product here was ever sold at it, so every percentage on this page is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose rather than a measured saving. Rating counts and star averages are reproduced exactly as published, including very small counts, and a listing with no published rating is treated as unrated rather than as poor. Weights, piece counts, contents, 'premium', 'assorted', 'gourmet' and every other description are the sellers' own printed text, reproduced as printed and not verified, weighed or tasted by us - nothing here is a statement about quality, taste, freshness, nutrition or food safety. Chocolate products commonly contain milk, nuts, soya and wheat and may be manufactured alongside other allergens; allergen, ingredient, storage and best-before information is on the pack and on the seller's own listing, not on this page, and anyone with a food allergy should rely on those. Product photographs are the listings' own images as published on amazon.in and may be styled or retouched. Prices change without notice and can differ at checkout after coupons, bank offers or delivery charges; the price shown at your checkout prevails over anything here.
