Free delivery thresholds in Indian beauty cluster between Rs. 399 and Rs. 499. Dot & Key's sits at twice that: "There are no shipping charges for the orders equal and above the billing value of INR 999. However, if your order is less than INR 999, there will be a shipping charge of INR 50." The fee is small; the distance to it is not.
We read dotandkey.com's shipping policy first-party on 4 October 2026. Below: why the words "billing value" can make a coupon cost you money, the confirmation step that means a cash-on-delivery checkout is not yet an order, and the two-business-day dispatch clock with its Sunday and public-holiday carve-out.

📅 Update log:
4 October 2026 — First publication. Dot & Key's shipping policy read in full from dotandkey.com: the Rs. 999 billing-value threshold and the Rs. 50 charge below it, the two-business-day dispatch promise and its Sunday and public holiday exclusions, the cash-on-delivery confirmation requirement, the split-dispatch clause, the two-email receipt-and-dispatch sequence, the statement that acceptance occurs at dispatch, and the no-international-shipping line. Terms verified 4 October 2026.
Rs. 999 is the highest free-shipping bar in Indian D2C beauty
Dot & Key's shipping page states its charge in a single sentence, and the number in it is roughly twice what most of its competitors ask:
"There are no shipping charges for the orders equal and above the billing value of INR 999. However, if your order is less than INR 999, there will be a shipping charge of INR 50."
That Rs. 999 bar is the highest this site has read across the Indian direct-to-consumer beauty layer. Beardo and mCaffeine ship free above Rs. 399, SuperBottoms above Rs. 449, Perfora above Rs. 499 on prepaid orders, and Minimalist publishes no threshold at all but charges Rs. 70 to pay at the door. Dot & Key asks for twice Beardo's basket before the Rs. 50 comes off.
The charge itself is modest - Rs. 50 is at the low end of the range, against Rs. 65 at Perfora and Rs. 70 at Nykaa and Minimalist. What is unusual is the distance to the threshold, not the size of the fee. Note also the wording: "billing value", which is the amount billed rather than a pre-discount total, so a coupon that drops a Rs. 1,020 basket to Rs. 970 can reintroduce the Rs. 50 charge.
| What the policy states | The figure Dot & Key publishes |
|---|
| Free shipping | orders equal to and above INR 999 billing value |
| Below that | INR 50 shipping charge |
| Dispatch | most orders within 2 business days |
| Excluded from the dispatch clock | Sundays and public holidays |
| Cash-on-delivery orders | accepted only after you confirm by email or mobile |
| Split dispatch | "may or may not happen at the same time" |
| International shipping | not offered |
| Order confirmation | email on receipt, second email on dispatch |
Watch the coupon, not just the cart. The threshold is stated against "billing value", so a discount that takes a basket from just above Rs. 999 to just below it can add Rs. 50 back - and cost you more than the coupon saved.
A cash-on-delivery order is not accepted until you answer
Most brands treat a completed checkout as an order. Dot & Key adds a step for anyone paying at the door, and the wording is firm:
"In case of Cash on Delivery orders, an order confirmation email will be sent to you. Your order request will only be accepted once you have confirmed your order on the email/ mobile."
So a cash-on-delivery checkout produces an order request rather than an order. If the confirmation email lands in spam or the call is missed, the page's position is that acceptance has not happened - which means the two-business-day dispatch clock has not started either.
That is a reasonable anti-fraud measure and several Indian retailers do something similar. It is worth knowing in advance because the failure mode is silent: nothing goes wrong, nothing arrives, and the shopper is waiting on a confirmation they never saw.
The same page describes the normal email sequence for every order: "Once your order has been placed, we will notify you by email as soon as possible to confirm receipt of your order and email you again to onfirm dispatch and therefore acceptance of the order." Two emails - receipt, then dispatch - with the brand's own typo preserved.
Two business days, and parcels that may not travel together
The dispatch promise is specific and modest: "We dispatch most orders within 2 business days (excluding Sundays and public holidays)." Three qualifiers sit inside that one sentence - most orders, business days, and an explicit carve-out for Sundays and public holidays.
In a festive week that matters. An order placed on a Saturday before a Monday public holiday has, on the page's own arithmetic, not missed its window until Wednesday.
The page also warns in advance that an order is not necessarily one parcel: "Dispatch of all the product(s) ordered, may or may not happen at the same time." That is the same clause Minimalist publishes in different words, and it has the same consequence - a multi-item order can arrive across several days, and the brand describes that as normal rather than as a fault.
Unlike several brands in this layer, Dot & Key publishes no delivery-days range at all. The only timing figure on the page is the dispatch one; transit is described only as the courier bringing the package "as early as possible", with a note that if they cannot reach the address or find a suitable time they will contact you to resolve it.
Dot & Key's other stated delivery terms
- Inspection before handover: "The product(s) will be inspected and packaged prior to handing them over to our trusted delivery partners."
- If the courier cannot reach you: "In case, they are unable to reach the provided address or at a suitable time, they will contact you to resolve the issue."
- International: "Dot & Key does not ship outside India at the moment."
- Order acceptance: the dispatch email is described as confirming "acceptance of the order" - so acceptance happens at dispatch, not at checkout.
- Fraud warning on the same page: "BEWARE: No one from our team will call you for offers, free gifts or payments."
That last point is a genuine legal nicety worth noticing. By the page's own wording, acceptance of your order occurs when the dispatch email is sent, not when you pay. It is standard contract drafting for e-commerce and it is unusually clearly stated here - most pages in this layer leave the moment of acceptance unaddressed.
Read beside the brand's separate return policy, which this site has covered before, the shape of buying from Dot & Key is now reasonably complete: Rs. 999 to ship free, two business days to dispatch, a 48-hour window to report a parcel problem, and no change-of-mind return.
What this means before you order
Rs. 999 is the number to build the basket around. Below it the charge is Rs. 50, and it is assessed on billing value, so check the total after any coupon.
If you pay cash on delivery, answer the confirmation. The policy states the order is only accepted once you have confirmed by email or mobile, and nothing dispatches before that.
Expect two business days to dispatch and no published transit estimate. Sundays and public holidays are excluded from the dispatch clock, and a multi-item order may be sent in more than one parcel.
We did not place, confirm, pay for, track or cancel an order, and no charge here was verified at a checkout. Every figure above is Dot & Key's own published text on 4 October 2026; policies change without notice, and the page at the time of your order prevails over anything here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Dot & Key's free shipping threshold?
Rs. 999, which is the highest this site has read in Indian direct-to-consumer beauty. Verbatim: "There are no shipping charges for the orders equal and above the billing value of INR 999. However, if your order is less than INR 999, there will be a shipping charge of INR 50." For comparison, Beardo and mCaffeine ship free above Rs. 399, SuperBottoms above Rs. 449 and Perfora above Rs. 499 on prepaid orders. Read 4 October 2026; check the live page.
How long does Dot & Key take to dispatch an order?
The page states that "We dispatch most orders within 2 business days (excluding Sundays and public holidays)." Three qualifiers sit in that sentence - most orders, business days, and the Sunday and public holiday carve-out - so a weekend order before a Monday holiday has a longer real window. The page publishes no delivery-days range at all, so transit time after dispatch is not estimated.
Why has my Dot & Key cash-on-delivery order not shipped?
One likely reason is in the policy. It states that "In case of Cash on Delivery orders, an order confirmation email will be sent to you. Your order request will only be accepted once you have confirmed your order on the email/ mobile." On the page's own wording a cash-on-delivery checkout creates an order request, and acceptance waits on your confirmation - so an unanswered email or missed call leaves it unstarted. We did not place an order and cannot diagnose any individual case.
Why did my Dot & Key order arrive in more than one parcel?
The page says in advance that it can: "Dispatch of all the product(s) ordered, may or may not happen at the same time." So a multi-item order arriving across several days is described by the brand as normal rather than as an error. The same page adds that products are "inspected and packaged prior to handing them over to our trusted delivery partners."
Does Dot & Key ship internationally?
No. The page states it in one line: "Dot & Key does not ship outside India at the moment." That is firmer than several brands in this layer - Plum, for instance, says it does ship abroad by email arrangement, and Minimalist names the US, UK, UAE, Malaysia and Indonesia and points international buyers to a separate global site.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every quoted sentence, charge, threshold and window here was read on 4 October 2026 from dotandkey.com/policies/shipping-policy, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased, no account created and no order placed, confirmed, tracked or cancelled; quotations are reproduced verbatim from the brand's own page, including its own punctuation, spacing and spelling - the word "onfirm" in the quoted dispatch sentence is the page's own and is reproduced as printed. No charge described here was verified at a checkout, and the only reliable figure for your own order is the one your own cart displays. Policies change without notice: the shipping policy published on dotandkey.com at the time of your order, and any charges or terms shown at your own checkout, prevail over anything on this page. The two-business-day dispatch figure is the brand's own stated estimate and describes its warehouse rather than delivery to any address; the page publishes no transit-time range and this page does not estimate one. The observation that a coupon can take a basket back below the stated billing-value threshold is arithmetic over the page's own wording and is not a claim that any discount is designed to do so. Comparisons to thresholds and fees published by Beardo, mCaffeine, SuperBottoms, Perfora, Minimalist, Nykaa or Plum describe figures this site read from those brands' own pages on the dates stated in the linked articles and may since have changed. Nothing here alleges unfair trade practice, deficiency in service, a dark pattern, hidden charges or any breach of the Consumer Protection Act, the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, the Legal Metrology Act or any other law, rule or guideline by Dot & Key, by Dot & Key Wellness Limited or by any courier or payment partner, and no wrongdoing is alleged or implied; setting a free-shipping threshold, confirming cash-on-delivery orders before acceptance, shipping an order in several parcels and defining acceptance at dispatch are ordinary and lawful commercial practices. Nothing on this page is legal advice, and a shopper with a disputed charge or an undelivered order should rely on the brand's own published policy and customer service rather than on this summary.
