We read pulse oximeters, nebulizers and blood pressure monitors on both marketplaces on the morning of 25 October 2026 — 86 listings from Amazon and 201 from Flipkart.

Three Amazon listings advertise a 99% discount on a stated MRP that is exactly one hundred times the price being charged. No home nebulizer costs Rs. 1,19,800. With those outliers removed, Amazon turns out to be the restrained shelf here — 1.88x median stated MRP against Flipkart's 2.79x — the reverse of what the same two retailers did on their kitchen aisles the same morning. Nothing on this page is medical advice.

📅 Update log:
25 Oct 2026: first published. All prices, stated MRPs, discount badges, star averages and rating counts read from amazon.in's and flipkart.com's own search results on 25 October 2026, logged out, from India, nothing purchased. Four Amazon listings and one Flipkart listing whose stated MRP exceeded eight times the selling price were excluded from every median, count and range; the three hundredfold nebulizers are reported separately and named. Flipkart rows were deduplicated on brand, price and product type. No device was bought, opened or tested, and no matched-model price comparison was attempted.

We read pulse oximeters, nebulizers and blood pressure monitors on both marketplaces on the morning of 25 October 2026 — 86 listings from Amazon's search results and 201 from Flipkart's.

The first thing we found was three Amazon listings advertising a 99% discount that is arithmetically impossible, on medical devices. On each of them the stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price. After setting those aside, the two shelves separate cleanly — and not in the direction you might expect.

Three listings where the decimal point is in the wrong place

ListingSelling priceStated MRPMultipleBadge displayed
MEDTECH Handyneb Super nebulizerRs. 1,198Rs. 1,19,800100.0x99%
Portable mesh nebulizerRs. 123Rs. 12,300100.0x99%
CN11 compressor nebulizerRs. 879Rs. 87,900100.0x99%
A home nebulizer does not cost Rs. 1,19,800. Each of these three stated MRPs is exactly 100 times the selling price, which is the signature of a decimal point entered in the wrong position rather than of any pricing decision. They are the only listings in either read whose stated MRP exceeds eight times the price, and we removed all four such outliers before computing a single median on this page rather than letting them flatter Amazon's discount column. Nothing here alleges deliberate misrepresentation — a data-entry error is the obvious and innocent explanation. But a shopper filtering a medical-device shelf by discount depth sees these three first, and the figure is meaningless.

On this shelf Amazon is markedly the more restrained of the two. Its median stated MRP is 1.88x the selling price against Flipkart's 2.79x, its median badge is 47% against 64%, and only 11 of its 82 listings reach a 70% badge where 63 of Flipkart's 200 do. That is worth flagging because it is the opposite of what we found reading these two retailers' kitchen-tool shelves on the same morning, where Flipkart ran a 74% median badge on a 3.87x median claim. Neither marketplace has a house style that holds across categories.

The evidence is also deeper on Amazon. Ninety-five per cent of its listings publish a star average and a rating count, against 84% on Flipkart, and the median count among rated listings is 708 against 174. On a shelf of regulated measuring instruments, where nothing on the tile tells you whether a device reads accurately, the review base is a more useful column than the percentage.

What these devices actually cost

Taking medians across the counted listings: Amazon's is Rs. 929 and Flipkart's Rs. 443. That gap is mostly product mix — Amazon's results skew towards branded compressor nebulizers and upper-arm BP monitors, Flipkart's towards fingertip pulse oximeters, which are the cheapest thing in this aisle. We have not attempted a matched-model price comparison and this page does not say which retailer is cheaper for the same device; the catalogues overlap on brands but not reliably on model numbers, and a comparison built on "a nebulizer" rather than on one identified machine would be worthless.

On this shelf, read the rating count and the brand before the percentage. A pulse oximeter, a BP monitor and a nebulizer are regulated measuring devices whose whole value is whether the number they produce is correct, and nothing on either marketplace's listing tile tells you that. The discount badge tells you least of all: on Amazon it is a 47% median and on Flipkart a 64% one for the same kinds of product, and three Amazon tiles show 99% because someone typed a number wrong.
How we counted, and what we excluded

Every price, stated MRP, badge, star average and rating count is the figure the retailer's own search data serves, read 25 October 2026, logged out, from India.

Exclusions. We removed any listing whose stated MRP exceeded eight times its selling price: four on Amazon (the three hundredfold nebulizers above, plus a Rs. 284 unit against a stated Rs. 2,498) and one on Flipkart (a Rs. 248 pulse oximeter against a stated Rs. 1,999, at 8.06x - borderline rather than clearly erroneous). Every median, count and range on this page is computed over the 82 and 200 listings that remain. Had we left the Amazon outliers in, its median badge would have risen and its shelf would have looked more generous than it is.

Rating coverage counts a listing as rated where the retailer publishes both an average and a count. The median rating count is taken across rated listings only.

Flipkart's search returns the same listing under multiple keys; rows were deduplicated on brand, price and product type before counting.

We did not compare matched models. The two catalogues carry overlapping brands but not reliably the same model numbers on these three queries, and a price verdict built on unmatched devices would mislead.

The honest summary

On home medical devices, Amazon is the better-documented shelf: a 1.88x median stated MRP against Flipkart's 2.79x, 95% rating coverage against 84%, and a median review base four times deeper. Flipkart's listings are cheaper at the median, but that is mostly because its results are full of fingertip oximeters rather than because the same machine costs less.

The caveat is Amazon's own: three of its nebulizer listings advertise 99% off because a decimal point is in the wrong place. On a shelf where the product's entire purpose is to produce an accurate number, that is an uncomfortable place for a data-entry error to surface. Read the brand and the review count. Nothing on this page is medical advice, and no device here has been tested for accuracy by us or, so far as the listings disclose, by anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some Amazon nebulizers show 99% off?
Because the stated MRP has a decimal point in the wrong place. In our 25 October 2026 read, three Amazon nebulizer listings showed a stated MRP that is exactly one hundred times the selling price: a MEDTECH Handyneb Super at Rs. 1,198 against a stated Rs. 1,19,800, a portable mesh nebulizer at Rs. 123 against Rs. 12,300, and a CN11 compressor nebulizer at Rs. 879 against Rs. 87,900. All three display 99% off. No home nebulizer retails for over a lakh of rupees, and an exact hundredfold multiple is the signature of a data-entry error rather than a pricing decision. Nothing here alleges deliberate misrepresentation — a mistyped figure is the obvious and innocent explanation. The practical consequence is that if you sort this shelf by discount, these three come first and the number is meaningless. We excluded them, and one further outlier, from every average on this page so they could not flatter Amazon's figures.
Is Amazon or Flipkart better for buying a BP monitor or nebulizer?
On documentation, Amazon — though neither tells you the thing that actually matters. Across the listings we counted on 25 October 2026, Amazon's median stated MRP is 1.88x the selling price against Flipkart's 2.79x, its median discount badge is 47% against 64%, and only 11 of its 82 listings reach a 70% badge where 63 of Flipkart's 200 do — so Amazon's prices are less dressed up. Amazon also publishes a rating on 95% of listings against Flipkart's 84%, with a median review count of 708 against 174. Flipkart's median price is lower (Rs. 443 against Rs. 929) but that is product mix, not value — its results are dominated by cheap fingertip oximeters while Amazon's skew to branded compressor nebulizers and upper-arm BP monitors. We have not compared matched models and this page does not say which retailer is cheaper for the same device. Neither marketplace's listing discloses measurement accuracy, calibration or clinical validation.
Are cheap pulse oximeters and BP monitors accurate?
We cannot tell you, and neither can the listings — which is the single most important thing on this page. We read 287 listings and bought, opened and tested none of them. Nothing on either marketplace's tile discloses measurement accuracy, calibration method, clinical validation or regulatory approval status, and the price range on this shelf is enormous: fingertip oximeters from Rs. 160 to BP monitors and nebulizers at Rs. 18,999. Published research has repeatedly raised concerns about the accuracy of inexpensive consumer pulse oximeters, particularly on darker skin tones and at low saturation levels, but we have not tested these specific devices and make no claim about any of them. Nothing on this page is medical advice. A reading from a home device is not a diagnosis, should not be used to start, stop or change any treatment, and should not delay seeking care. If you need a device for managing a diagnosed condition, ask your doctor or pharmacist which specific model to buy rather than choosing on a discount badge — and treat the brand name and review base as far better signals than the percentage.
What does a nebulizer cost in India in October 2026?
Taking the listings we counted on 25 October 2026, the whole home-medical-device shelf runs from Rs. 160 to Rs. 18,999, with a median of Rs. 929 on Amazon and Rs. 443 on Flipkart — but those medians cover three different product types, so read them with care. Fingertip pulse oximeters are the cheap end, which is why Flipkart's median is lower; its results are full of them. Compressor nebulizers and upper-arm BP monitors are the dearer end, and are what Amazon's results skew towards. Among the branded nebulizers in our read, MEDTECH and Dr. Morepen units appeared around the Rs. 879 to Rs. 1,198 mark. We did not compare matched model numbers across the two sites and so are not naming a cheaper retailer for any specific machine. If you are pricing a particular model, search that model number on both and compare the actual tickets rather than the badges — which on this shelf run 17% to 86% on Amazon and 5% to 87% on Flipkart for broadly the same kinds of product.
Should you trust a health device with thousands of Amazon reviews?
A large review base is the best signal either shelf offers, and it is still not a clinical one. It tells you a lot of people bought the device and were broadly satisfied with it as a product — that it arrived, switched on, and did not break. It does not tell you that the number on the screen is correct, because almost no buyer is in a position to check a saturation or blood-pressure reading against a calibrated reference. On this shelf the depth available is considerable: Amazon's median rated listing carries 708 ratings and its deepest 109,787; Flipkart's median is 174 and its deepest 135,874. Use it to rule devices out rather than to rule one in — and note that on Flipkart 32 of 200 listings publish no rating at all, against 4 of 82 on Amazon. Nothing here is medical advice; for a device you will rely on to manage a diagnosed condition, take the model recommendation from a clinician and use the review count only to choose where to buy it.
Prices & codes last verified: October 25, 2026
Nothing on this page is medical advice. The products discussed are regulated medical devices and this page reports published prices and listing data only. No device here was purchased, opened, used or tested, and no claim whatsoever is made about measurement accuracy, calibration, clinical validation, regulatory approval, safety or fitness for any medical purpose. Nothing on either marketplace's listing tile discloses those things either. A reading from a home pulse oximeter, blood pressure monitor or any other consumer device is not a diagnosis, must not be used to start, stop or change any treatment, and must not delay seeking professional care. Anyone buying a device to manage a diagnosed condition should take the specific model recommendation from a doctor or pharmacist rather than from a price page. Where this page notes published concerns about inexpensive consumer pulse oximeters, that refers to the general research literature and not to any device in this read, none of which we have assessed. All prices, stated MRPs, discount badges, star averages and rating counts were read from amazon.in's and flipkart.com's own search results on 25 October 2026, logged out, from India. Product descriptions, specifications and brand claims are the listings' own printed words, reproduced and not independently verified. Where we report that a stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price, we are reporting the published figures and identifying the arithmetic; nothing here alleges that any seller has deliberately misrepresented a price, and a data-entry error is the obvious explanation. Listings whose stated MRP exceeded eight times the price were excluded from every median and range quoted, and that exclusion is stated wherever the figures appear. The two shelves read are not the same goods and this page does not rank the retailers on price — the product mixes differ substantially and no matched-model comparison was attempted. Rating coverage figures describe whether a retailer publishes an average and a count; nothing here alleges that any review is fake, bought or improperly placed, nor have we read or assessed any individual review. Prices change without notice — check the live listing before buying. Zoutons may earn a commission on purchases made through links on this page, which never affects what we report.
