We read Croma's dishwasher shelf on 25 August 2026 from the retailer's own listing feed. Twenty-one machines came back with a price, an MRP and a stated place-settings capacity, and all 21 are seated here, Rs. 46,894 to Rs. 72,990. Place settings is the only capacity figure every listing states, so every card divides price by settings. That ratio runs from Rs. 3,199 to Rs. 5,199 and it does not track the total price: the 16-setting IFB Neptune VX16 at Rs. 58,990 costs less per setting than the 12-setting Kutchina at Rs. 49,190 and the 14-setting LG at Rs. 54,990. The five built-in machines all sit in the expensive half of that table - Bosch's built-in Series 4 with fourteen settings costs Rs. 5,000 more than its free-standing Series 6 with fifteen. And the ratings are effectively absent: Croma publishes none at all for fourteen of the 21, and the largest count on the shelf is nine, so no card here carries a rating pill.
We read Amazon's water purifier shelves on 25 August 2026 across three searches and seated 26 machines priced Rs. 3,999 to Rs. 19,499, every price and stated MRP taken from Amazon's own search results the same day. The finding is that the technology list does not separate these machines. The three cheapest, Rs. 3,999 to Rs. 5,247, all state reverse osmosis plus ultraviolet plus ultrafiltration plus copper, zinc or alkaline across seven to ten stages - longer feature lists than the Rs. 19,499 machine at the top of the read. What separates them is what the listing says about after the sale: seventeen of the branded machines state a service plan, a filter-life term, free installation or a zero-service-cost promise, and not one of the three cheapest states anything at all. Nine further listings returned MRPs exactly a hundred times their price and were dropped, along with four dust covers a purifier search returned as purifiers.
We read 52 Croma printer listings on 24 August 2026 and seated 22, priced Rs. 2,499 to Rs. 23,599 across three ink systems. The finding that should decide the purchase is that the sticker price is the smaller number: a Rs. 2,499 cartridge inkjet costs several times more per page to run than the Rs. 12,199 Epson EcoTank that starts the refillable-tank tier, and a household printing regularly spends the difference back on ink inside a year or two. Croma's badges here are unusually modest and plausible - median 20 per cent for HP, 21 for Epson, 12 for Canon, with the largest printer discount in the read at 38 per cent - so the arithmetic over the stated MRPs is worth more than on most shelves. The ratings are the weak point: 36 of the 52 listings carry none at all, and of the 16 that do, only one has a sample above twenty votes. Three colour tank all-in-ones sit within Rs. 450 of each other with nothing published to separate them.
We read Amazon India's induction cooktop shelf on 24 August 2026 across five search queries and seated 18 listings priced Rs. 1,499 to Rs. 2,999. The clearest line on the page is at Rs. 2,000: six of the seven cooktops below it average under 4.0 - down to 3.0 on the cheapest - and every average of 4.1 or better costs Rs. 2,190 or more. The one exception is an iBELL SLIM50 at Rs. 1,989, rated 4.1 by 3,326 buyers with a stated three-year warranty. Wattage runs backwards against price: the three cheapest listings claim 2000W while Prestige's 44,129-rating flagship at Rs. 2,330 is 1600W and its Rs. 1,850 model is 1200W, because the money here buys the board, the surge protection and the service network rather than the coil. The best-argued cooktop in the read is the iBELL 20YO at Rs. 2,290 - 2000W, double coil, three-year warranty, 4.3 from 3,703 ratings. Every price and MRP is Amazon's.
We read both induction cooktop shelves on 24 August 2026 - 48 listings on amazon.in and 26 on croma.com, each with a price and a stated MRP - and found four models sold on both storefronts under the same model name. They split two-all. Croma is cheaper on the Prestige PIC 6.1 V3 2200W (Rs. 4,499 against Rs. 4,895) and the Prestige PIC 20 NEO 1600W (Rs. 2,299 against Rs. 2,320); Amazon is cheaper on the Havells TC20 2000W (Rs. 4,999 against Rs. 5,330) and the Usha Cookjoy 2000W (Rs. 4,099 against Rs. 4,299). The largest gap on any matched model is 8 per cent. What differs far more is the MRP: the same PIC 20 NEO is listed against Rs. 3,330 on Amazon and Rs. 2,850 on Croma, so a 21-rupee price difference becomes an eleven-point difference in the discount badge. The shelves differ in shape too - Amazon's sub-Rs. 2,000 band is marketplace labels, Croma stocks only recognisable brands, and Amazon's biggest rating count here is 44,129 against Croma's largest of 143.
We read Amazon India's air fryer shelf on 23 August 2026 across eight search queries and seated 22 listings, priced Rs. 2,499 to Rs. 4,799, after removing duplicates on ASIN and on the product photograph. Before anything else, a data warning: four listings printed a stated MRP of exactly one hundred times their selling price - Rs. 3,199 against Rs. 3,19,900, and three more like it - which would have rendered as 99 per cent discounts. We dropped all four. What remains shows a badge that runs backwards against the evidence. Philips, the most established name in the read with 5,708 ratings at 4.4, carries the smallest discount on the page at 22 per cent; the deepest badges, up to 76 per cent off a claimed Rs. 12,499, sit on listings with 122, 40 and zero ratings. The machine that wins on evidence is a Tower 4.5-litre at Rs. 3,699 with 9,431 ratings at 4.6, the largest crowd and highest average here. Capacity barely tracks price: 2 litres costs Rs. 2,999, 5 litres Rs. 3,399.
We read 125 Croma cooling listings on 23 August 2026 across air coolers, ceiling fans and room heaters, and seated 24 - twelve fans priced Rs. 1,549 to Rs. 8,499 and twelve coolers priced Rs. 2,999 to Rs. 12,510. Heaters were left out as out of season. Three things define this shelf. First, the ratings cannot carry weight: 69 of the 125 listings have no rating at all, and of the 56 that do, most rest on fewer than twenty votes - 4.9 from eight people, 5.0 from one. Second, the house brand's own listings disagree with each other: three Croma coolers sell at exactly Rs. 5,999 against a stated Rs. 10,000 and are rated 4.6 (8 votes), 3.7 (11) and 2.6 (19), while a fourth at Rs. 7,499 scores 1.8. Third, listing counts overstate the shelf - the Crompton Energion NITEO appears four times at one price, the Havells Epic Underlight three times, the atomberg Renesa three times. On fans, the number that matters is the motor: BLDC costs from Rs. 2,499 and repays the premium in a summer.
We read 42 Amazon.in listings on 22 August 2026 across three searches - steam iron, dry iron and garment steamer - and seated 24 of them, priced Rs. 429 to Rs. 5,499. The clearest pattern is where the evidence sits. The five largest review counts in the whole read belong to dry irons under Rs. 1,700: Bajaj's DX-7 at 56,337, Philips' GC1905 at 53,270, USHA's Armor at 26,806, Philips' GC181 at 22,001 and Orient's Fabrijoy at 21,914. The garment steamers, which cost three to five times as much, carry 8, 44, 117, 896 and 5,628. Two brand patterns are worth naming: Philips is the least-discounted seller here, with badges of 6, 16, 24, 26 and 27 per cent where every other brand has a listing above 40; and Bajaj's dry irons average 4.2 across 106,000 reviews while its two steam irons average 3.7 and 3.4. We also excluded three listings whose stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price, all of which render as 99 per cent off.
We read 46 Amazon.in listings on 22 August 2026 across three searches - mixer grinder, mixer grinder 750 watt and juicer mixer grinder - and seated 25 after removing duplicate ASINs and duplicate product photography, priced Rs. 1,249 to Rs. 8,499. The clearest finding is that wattage carries no price information: thirteen seated listings state 750 watts and they run from Rs. 1,599 (HydroGrind) to Rs. 5,640 (Bosch TrueMixx Pro), with Bosch alone selling two 750W machines two thousand rupees apart and Longway hedging its claim into 'Up to 750W Max Output'. The second finding is about evidence. The most-reviewed product on the shelf, the Prestige Iris at Rs. 3,649, carries 74,739 reviews and averages 3.8 - below the Rs. 1,275 Lifelong, the Rs. 1,799 NutriPro and the Rs. 2,199 Cookwell. The best well-evidenced average in the read, 4.5 from 10,837, belongs to Sujata's Rs. 6,990 machine. Three listings we seated carry review counts of four, 14 and 73 and show no rating pill at all.
We read 74 Croma listings on 22 August 2026 across three searches - microwave oven, OTG oven and convection microwave - and seated 25 after removing listings that shared a product photograph, priced Rs. 1,899 to Rs. 92,290. The retailer's own pricing splits cleanly by category. Croma-branded oven toaster grills here are 53, 40, 33 and 25 per cent off; Croma-branded microwaves are 5, 4, 1 and 0. Its 20-litre convection oven is Rs. 9,990 against a stated Rs. 10,000 - a ten-rupee markdown - and its 23-litre is Rs. 11,390 against Rs. 11,500. Outside brands discount normally, up to 35 per cent on a 30-litre IFB. The second pattern is evidential: the four best-rated listings on the shelf cost between Rs. 6,690 and Rs. 16,990 and carry 79, 73, 55 and 44 ratings, while every listing above Rs. 20,000 - including a Rs. 92,290 Bosch built-in - carries none at all. The largest badge in the read, 70 per cent, sits on a WARMEX OTG with one rating.
We read Lenovo laptop prices on 22 August 2026 from two storefronts - Lenovo's own India deals page, rendered because its prices are inserted client-side, and Croma's listing data for Lenovo laptops. Thirty-one listings in total, from Rs. 46,990 to Rs. 2,76,991. Three things stand out. Lenovo's own site states an MRP of exactly Rs. 1,70,001 on three different products - two ThinkBooks and a ThinkCentre all-in-one - and Rs. 1,69,991 on a fourth, with stated MRPs and selling prices throughout ending in 001 or 991. Croma lists two entries whose specification strings are word-for-word identical, a LOQ 15IRX10 with a Core i7, 16GB, 1TB and an RTX 5050, at Rs. 1,57,990 and Rs. 1,76,990 against the same stated MRP. And the IdeaPad Slim 3 15IRH10 Core i5 appears three times at Rs. 78,990, Rs. 81,990 and Rs. 87,990 against stated MRPs of Rs. 1,37,690, Rs. 1,84,990 and Rs. 92,290. Lenovo's homepage names a Freedom Sale at up to 10 per cent off, running to 24 August.
Thirty-one Amazon India vacuum-cleaner listings, read on 21 August 2026 across two searches, priced Rs. 999 to Rs. 79,999 with a median of Rs. 11,186. Three findings. Two DREAME robot listings state an MRP exactly one hundred times their price - Rs. 46,999 against Rs. 46,99,900 and Rs. 79,999 against Rs. 79,99,900 - each producing a 99 per cent badge. ILIFE's five robot listings carry only two rating pools between them, with three separate models all showing 4.2 from the identical 23,669 ratings. And the discount badge sorts by brand rather than by machine: ILIFE's median is 70 per cent across five listings, Eureka Forbes' is 28, and the single Philips listing - the best-rated on the shelf at 4.3 from 22,891 - shows 7.
We read Croma's own listings for 21 air conditioners, 21 refrigerators and 21 washing machines on 19 August 2026. The ACs run from Rs. 26,490 to Rs. 52,490, and sorting that shelf by price gets the answer exactly backwards. Divided by rated capacity, the cheapest machine on the shelf - a 0.8-ton Daikin at Rs. 26,490 - is the most expensive cooling in the read at Rs. 33,112 per ton, while a 1.5-ton Croma-brand convertible split at Rs. 30,290 is Rs. 20,193 per ton. Nine of the 21 listings are Croma's own brand and they hold four of the five best per-ton places. Discounts run 0% to 47% and do not line up with value: the deepest badge in the read is mid-table on cost per ton, and one window unit is listed at a price and an MRP ten rupees apart. Full price tables by capacity, plus how the fridge and washing-machine aisles compare.
We read Croma's own listing data across two appliance categories on 20 August 2026 - refrigerators and washing machines, two pages each - which returned 84 listings carrying both a price and a stated MRP, and seated 22 spanning Rs. 8,090 to Rs. 31,290. The finding that shapes the page is how little anyone has said about these products. Only two listings in the entire read carry a three-figure rating count: a Croma 7.5 kg semi-automatic washer at 4.6 from 120 buyers and a Samsung 7 kg top-loader at 4.4 from 121. Eleven of the 22 have three ratings or fewer and five publish none at all. Against that emptiness, the largest badge on the page - 43 per cent - sits on the lowest-rated appliance in it, a Croma fully-automatic machine rated 2.9 by 67 people, while the two smallest badges sit on Croma's own small refrigerators. The read also contains a clean star-rating comparison: the same Haier 190-litre fridge at 2 and 3 stars, Rs. 1,000 apart.
We ran the same five category pulls - washing machines, air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions and microwave ovens - on Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales on 17 August 2026, and matched the results on brand, capacity, star rating and load type. Croma returned 209 listings with a price and a higher stated MRP, Vijay Sales 135 and Reliance Digital 60. One machine could be matched by model code, LG's T80VBMB1Z 8 kg top-load: Rs. 23,190 at Croma against Rs. 20,490 at Reliance Digital, a Rs. 2,700 gap. Across eleven spec-matched Croma and Vijay Sales pairs, Vijay Sales was cheaper on ten by Rs. 1,009 to Rs. 6,500. The stated MRPs disagree more than the prices do - the same Samsung 8 kg machine carries a Rs. 31,990 MRP at two sites and Rs. 37,990 at the third. And only Croma publishes customer ratings, on 129 of its 209 listings.
