We read Amazon's whole 'scientific calculator' shelf on 1 October 2026 - 16 listings. Amazon's own-brand AB-82MS appears three times: once at Rs. 349 with 438 ratings, and twice at Rs. 529 with 15 and 12. Same printed model, Rs. 180 apart, with twenty-nine times the evidence on the cheap one. The shelf is also the flattest we have read: a median badge of 9.5%, because Casio holds 9 of the 16 listings and shows 12% off or less on every one, while every deep discount - 71%, 53%, 46% - belongs to the marketplace's own brand. And a warning before you buy: only 8 of the 16 results are scientific calculators at all, with the two most-rated listings on the page being basic desk machines.
We read Croma's wireless keyboard, mouse and router listings on 17 September 2026. Twenty-eight came back with a price and an MRP; 23 are seated here, Rs. 724 to Rs. 19,495. The finding that matters is a catalogue problem rather than a price one. Logitech's Pebble 2 combo appears four separate times at the identical Rs. 4,595 against the identical stated Rs. 5,995, one listing per colourway - and between those four listings there are three ratings: one shows 5.0 from a single rating, one shows 3.0 from two, and two publish nothing at all. Sort this category by rating and the same keyboard appears at the top, in the middle and nowhere. The discount badges split the same way as on a fashion shelf: Logitech never claims more than 35 per cent, while a Rs. 724 Lenovo combo claims 73.
We read 61 storage listings on croma.com on 14 September 2026 — pen drives, memory cards, portable SSDs and external hard drives — and priced the 60 that state a capacity per gigabyte. The shelf runs Rs. 2.88 to Rs. 39.91 per GB, median Rs. 12.88, and format decides it: hard drives Rs. 4.21, memory cards Rs. 14.83, pen drives Rs. 16.63, SSDs Rs. 17.09. This is also very much a SanDisk shop — 35 of the 61 listings are SanDisk — and its list prices can be extraordinary: a Rs. 434 iXpand 64GB pen drive carries a Rs. 6,000 MRP, a 13.8x multiple. One thing is missing entirely: Croma showed a star on 19 listings and a rating count on none.
We read 67 storage listings on amazon.in and 61 on croma.com on 14 September 2026 and divided every one by the capacity in its own title. Croma's median gigabyte costs Rs. 12.88 and Amazon's Rs. 19.43 — but almost all of that gap is stocking, not pricing. Croma sells 4TB and 5TB hard drives (the cheapest rate in either read is Rs. 2.88 per GB on a WD 5TB at Rs. 14,749); Amazon sells 8GB and 16GB memory cards, the dearest storage there is. On solid state, where both stock the same sizes, the medians are Rs. 17.08 and Rs. 17.09. A matched SanDisk Ultra 128GB pen drive was Rs. 1,600 and Rs. 1,599. Amazon publishes a rating count on 66 of 67 listings; Croma on none of 61.
We read sixty-seven storage listings on amazon.in on 14 September 2026 — external hard drives, internal and portable SSDs, pen drives and memory cards — and priced every one of the sixty-three that states a capacity per gigabyte. The rate runs from Rs. 4.05 to Rs. 187.38 per GB, a 46x spread, and what moves it is format rather than brand: hard drives median Rs. 5.21 per GB, pen drives Rs. 14.75, SSDs Rs. 17.08, memory cards Rs. 29.56. The sharpest illustration sits at two identical prices — a Kingston 128GB pen drive and a SanDisk 8GB SD card both sell at Rs. 1,499 against the same Rs. 2,499 MRP. We also found four HIKVISION cards of different capacities displaying exactly 644 ratings each, one review pool across four products.
We read sixty charging-accessory listings on amazon.in on 14 September 2026 — cables, car chargers, wall adapters and power banks — and seated twenty-four. Three of the sixty are sold under a wattage instead of a brand name ('80W', '45W', 'Type'), and two of those display the same Rs. 3,499 MRP and the same 3,463 rating count despite claiming different outputs and selling at different prices. Power banks are the one shelf here with a clean unit price: the four 20,000 mAh packs run Rs. 84.95 to Rs. 109.50 per 1,000 mAh of stated capacity, and the 10,000 mAh wireless pack costs Rs. 174.90. The best ratings on the page are not on the headline products at all — four car chargers average 4.4 stars, three on four-figure samples, and the most-rated item in the read is a Rs. 179 cable with 38,229 ratings.
We read eighty non-sponsored PC-accessory listings on amazon.in on 11 September 2026 and seated twenty-four, from Rs. 199 to Rs. 6,999. The shelf's evidence is concentrated in one strange place: 206,461 of its 885,426 ratings — twenty-three percent — sit on a single Rs. 1,549 TP-Link listing that is a range extender, not a router. The best-evidenced actual router here holds 42,584. Elsewhere the badge runs backwards to the evidence: Logitech's eight listings hold 170,541 ratings at a median 31% off, Ant Esports' eight hold 8,331 at a median 67%. One 99% badge appears in the read, on a webcam whose stated MRP is exactly a hundred times its price.
We read forty-seven non-sponsored printer listings on amazon.in on 10 September 2026 and seated twenty-two, from Rs. 2,525 to Rs. 27,369. This is the calmest discount shelf on the site: badges run 1% to 50% with a median of 20%, and only one stated MRP sits at more than twice the selling price. The badge and the evidence run in opposite directions — the four deepest discounts carry 47, 178, 187 and 41 ratings, while the most-reviewed machines here (15,078, 13,084, 7,116 and 4,818 ratings) discount 1%, 21%, 18% and 7%. Two printers sit at exactly Rs. 11,999 with badges five points apart.
We read both monitor shelves on 5 September 2026 — 44 listings from Amazon's own search results and 42 from Croma's own listing pages. Croma badges deeper (45% median against 33%) and costs more (median Rs. 13,800 against Rs. 10,875), partly because it stocks ten monitors above Rs. 25,000 to Amazon's two. Three models appeared on both shelves and settle it: the BenQ GW2790 is Rs. 10,850 at both, the Lenovo L27-4C is Rs. 761 cheaper on Amazon off an identical stated MRP, and the Samsung Odyssey G8 is Rs. 9,200 cheaper. The wider gap is evidence: 43 of 44 Amazon listings carry a rating, against 12 of 42 at Croma.
We read both retailers' tablet listings on 1 September 2026 — 16 on Croma, 14 on Reliance Digital — and the difference is which shelf exists at your budget rather than who undercuts whom. Reliance Digital starts at Rs. 11,999 and puts six of its fourteen listings under Rs. 20,000; Croma starts at Rs. 19,999 and puts exactly one there, with a median listing of Rs. 45,499 against Reliance Digital's Rs. 21,249. The two stores share five brands but almost no identical variants, so a straight price table is not possible honestly: the nearest match, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, is Rs. 46,999 at Croma with 5G and Rs. 41,999 at Reliance Digital without it. At the top end Croma lists the A16 iPad at Rs. 47,900 while Reliance Digital lists the iPad Air M3 from Rs. 55,691 — different machines, not different prices for one.
We pulled Croma's own listing data for printers and monitors on 29 August 2026 and got 42 listings, evenly split at 21 each. The two shelves behave in opposite directions: printers carry the higher median price at Rs. 14,999 against Rs. 11,999 for monitors, and less than half the discount, a 20 per cent median badge against 45. Monitors also swing far wider, from Rs. 6,144 to Rs. 1,23,490 and from 5 to 74 per cent off, while printers sit in a narrow 9 to 38 per cent band. Two brands set the tone: HP holds 18 of the 21 printer listings at a 20 per cent median, Samsung holds 10 of 21 monitors at 48. Only 10 of the 42 listings carry a rating, so there is almost no user evidence on either shelf.
We read Amazon's own search results for hair dryers and hair straighteners on 19 August 2026, which returned 60 unique listings carrying both a price and a stated MRP, and seated 24 of them under Rs. 2,000. Two things run through the page. The first is that a rating count on this aisle is not always the product's: Havells' Rs. 999 HD3151 dryer and its Rs. 1,999 styling dryer both report exactly 67,312 ratings at 4.3, because Amazon pools reviews across a brand's variant family. The second is that the smallest discounts belong to the strongest listings - VEGA at 14 per cent off a stated Rs. 899 with 11,035 ratings, Philips at 15 per cent off Rs. 995, AGARO at 16 per cent off Rs. 899 - while a Rs. 649 Nova straightener states an MRP of Rs. 2,395 and a Rs. 1,809 Havells brush states Rs. 3,695. The specifications that actually change the experience are wattage and motor type, and only two dryers here, both at about Rs. 1,500, use the AC motors that salon dryers use.
We read Amazon's own search results across six printer and ink queries on 18 August 2026 and got 85 unique non-sponsored listings with a price; 45 are under Rs. 1,100 and 20 are seated here. The pattern is clean enough to shop by. Manufacturer ink - Canon, HP and Brother - is discounted between 0 and 12 per cent and carries between 2,347 and 12,149 reviews per listing: HP's 805 cartridge is one rupee off its stated Rs. 829, HP's 680 tri-colour is 1 per cent off with the largest crowd in the read, and Brother's own bottle is 3 per cent off. Third-party compatibles are discounted between 50 and 89 per cent and their review counts run from 15 upward: one toner claims 89 per cent off a stated Rs. 3,999 on 87 reviews, while two sellers list the same 88A toner five rupees apart with badges six points apart. The row that settles it sits at Rs. 549, where amazon basics' Canon-compatible refill costs exactly what Canon's own bottle costs.
We read 46 Vijay Sales laptop and tablet listings on August 11, 2026 from the retailer's own listing data across two category pages, and seated 22. This is one retailer running two aisles under two different MRP regimes. The laptop aisle gave us 25 rows at a median Rs. 93,499 and a median badge of 35 per cent, with nine rows discounted 40 per cent or deeper and one at 59 - a stated Rs. 1,84,990 on a machine with integrated graphics. The tablet aisle gave us 21 rows at a median Rs. 34,999 and a median badge of 26 per cent, and not one row in the whole aisle clears 34 per cent off. The most capable device in the entire read, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 slate, is discounted by five per cent; a gaming laptop is discounted by Rs. 391 and a tablet by exactly one rupee. Not one of the 46 listings carries a rating or a rating count, so every card here is argued from specification and price. Twenty-two picks, Rs. 16,999 to Rs. 1,47,999.
We read 46 Amazon India monitor and desk-peripheral listings on August 9, 2026 from Amazon's own search results, and sorted them by screen size and price before touching the discount column. Fourteen 24-inch FHD monitors sit inside a Rs. 4,300 window - Rs. 5,999 to Rs. 10,299 - and their badges run from 29 per cent to 76. Two Samsung listings sell at exactly the same Rs. 6,799 and show 46 and 55 per cent, because one claims a Rs. 12,500 list price and the other Rs. 15,200. Two LG UltraGear gaming panels share a stated Rs. 20,000 and sell Rs. 1,801 apart. The deepest badge in the entire read, 78 per cent, belongs to a Rs. 1,115 wired keyboard set claiming Rs. 5,000. And the evidence is nowhere near the monitors: a Rs. 329 Zebronics keyboard combo carries 23,208 ratings, ten times the largest monitor sample on the page, while one 24-inch listing has no rating at all. Twenty-four picks, from Rs. 329 to Rs. 29,990.
