We read Vijay Sales' own power bank category on 1 October 2026 - 27 listings. Twenty-three of them state the same capacity, 10,000 mAh, and run from Rs. 899 to Rs. 2,049 - 2.28 times the money for the same printed number, with magnets, wireless output and a kickstand accounting for the difference. The badges sort by brand recognition rather than by discount: Apple states an MRP 1.09x its price, Xiaomi 1.67x, and Swiss Military - on the cheapest listing on the shelf - states 5.33x and prints 81% off. And nothing here has a review: zero of 27 listings publish a star average or a review count, which also hides the fact that 13 of the 27 rows are repeats of six products.
We read Flipkart's phone case and screen guard listings on 22 September 2026. Seventy-four returned a price, a stated MRP and a badge; 24 are seated here, from Rs. 144 to Rs. 938. The finding that organises the page is that all 74 listings carry only seven different stated MRPs between them - Rs. 999 on 46 of them and Rs. 2,999 on 19 - so the discount badge moves with the price and nothing else. One seller runs 22 listings on two product photographs at five prices, badged 55 to 72 per cent off the same Rs. 999. Another prices twelve different iPhone models at exactly Rs. 499. And 48 of the 74 listings publish no rating at all.
We read both shelves on the same morning: 107 distinct power bank listings on Flipkart and 28 on Amazon, on 18 September 2026. On the products both carry, the platforms barely differ - boAt's 20,000mAh is Rs. 1,799 on both, off an identical stated MRP of Rs. 4,499, and its 10,000mAh is Rs. 999 on both. Elsewhere Flipkart is cheaper by Rs. 8 to Rs. 300, and it has a far deeper budget end: 49 listings under Rs. 1,000 against Amazon's four. The real divergence is capacity. Priced per claimed 1,000mAh, Flipkart's median is Rs. 75 against Amazon's Rs. 115 - because eleven Flipkart listings claim more than 20,000mAh, up to a pocket-sized 200,000mAh at Rs. 994, or roughly 740 watt-hours. Nothing in the Amazon read claimed above 20,000mAh.
We read Flipkart's power bank shelf on 18 September 2026 across three queries. One hundred and eighty-two listings came back carrying both a checkout price and a stated MRP; 107 were distinct products and 26 are seated here, Rs. 408 to Rs. 7,499. Every listing states a capacity in its own title, so we priced each per 1,000mAh of that claim. It runs from Rs. 5 to Rs. 375 - a seventy-five-fold spread that no single commodity can have. At the cheap end the claims stop being physically possible: 200,000mAh in a 'Compact Pocket Size' body at Rs. 994 is about 740 watt-hours, seven times what an airline carries in a cabin without approval and three to four kilograms of cells. Six separately branded listings sit at Rs. 992 for the same claim with MRPs from Rs. 2,999 to Rs. 4,999. And the mildest discount badge on the page, 14 per cent, belongs to the one brand you can buy in a supermarket.
We read sixty charging-accessory listings on amazon.in on 14 September 2026 — cables, car chargers, wall adapters and power banks — and seated twenty-four. Three of the sixty are sold under a wattage instead of a brand name ('80W', '45W', 'Type'), and two of those display the same Rs. 3,499 MRP and the same 3,463 rating count despite claiming different outputs and selling at different prices. Power banks are the one shelf here with a clean unit price: the four 20,000 mAh packs run Rs. 84.95 to Rs. 109.50 per 1,000 mAh of stated capacity, and the 10,000 mAh wireless pack costs Rs. 174.90. The best ratings on the page are not on the headline products at all — four car chargers average 4.4 stars, three on four-figure samples, and the most-rated item in the read is a Rs. 179 cable with 38,229 ratings.
We read twenty-one power banks from Croma's own catalogue on 9 September 2026, priced from Rs. 599 to Rs. 4,299. Croma's house brand lists one nominal specification — 10,000 mAh at 22.5W — at Rs. 899, Rs. 920, Rs. 1,138, Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,949, and its own 5,000 mAh unit at Rs. 1,499 costs more than five of them. The badges run the opposite way to every marketplace shelf we have read this year: Croma's own products carry 8% to 33% discounts while third-party brands carry 40% to 76%. Rating evidence barely exists — eleven listings have fewer than ten ratings. The figure that decides this page is rupees per 1,000 mAh, and it runs from Rs. 60 to Rs. 408.
We read Reliance Digital's own listing data across four audio queries on 20 August 2026 - soundbar, home theatre, bluetooth speaker and headphone - which returned 44 listings carrying both a price and a stated MRP, and seated 22 spanning Rs. 399 to Rs. 17,990. The finding that shapes the page is an absence: not one of the 44 listings carries a rating or a rating count. Reliance Digital publishes no customer feedback on this shelf at all, which leaves the brand, the stated specification and the price as the only things a buyer can weigh. Against that, the discount badge tracks the brand almost perfectly. Sony's five listings claim 10, 20, 25 and 29 per cent off, and Apple's EarPods 20 per cent; Zebronics, GOVO, BPL, Hammer and boAt sit between 64 and 84 per cent, against stated MRPs of Rs. 18,999 on a Rs. 5,999 soundbar and Rs. 6,990 on a Rs. 1,099 speaker system. The cheapest soundbar in the read costs Rs. 999.
We read Amazon's own power bank search results on 18 August 2026 and got fifteen listings carrying a price. Every single one is a 10,000mAh pack, and they run from Rs. 899 to Rs. 5,999 - the dearest is 6.7 times the cheapest for the same stated capacity, and our 20,000mAh query returned no 20,000mAh pack with a price at all. Since the capacity is constant, the price is buying something else: wireless MagSafe charging starts at Rs. 999, a built-in cable at Rs. 1,299, Qi2 certification at Rs. 2,499 and an aluminium body at Rs. 5,999. The discount badges are no guide - a Rs. 1,299 pack shows 19 per cent and a Rs. 1,399 pack shows 77, because their stated MRPs are Rs. 1,599 and Rs. 5,999. The rating counts are far more useful, and they run the wrong way as prices rise: Ambrane's Rs. 1,749 MagSafe pack carries 9,258 ratings, while the Rs. 2,499 Qi2 pack has 33 and the Rs. 5,999 one has none at all.
We read 155 Tata CLIQ listings on 18 August 2026 across three queries. The electronics half - earbuds, audio and accessories - runs Rs. 599 to Rs. 22,999 with a median of Rs. 1,999; the watch half runs Rs. 1,395 to Rs. 6,495 with a median of Rs. 1,995. Two findings are worth the trip. First, the deepest discount badges in the whole read belong to fashion-brand watches rather than electronics: five French Connection smartwatches sell at Rs. 1,949 to Rs. 2,469 against stated MRPs of Rs. 10,995 and Rs. 12,995, badges of 81 to 85 per cent, while specialist brands at the same price show half that. Second, we read boAt's own store the same day and matched one product: the boAt Airdopes 71 with 40 hours of stated playback is Rs. 1,099 at Tata CLIQ and Rs. 1,948 at boAt's own store, both stating an identical MRP of Rs. 3,990. That is Rs. 849 cheaper at the marketplace than at the brand's own site, before any coupon.
We read Amazon's own search results across four charger and power-bank queries on 18 August 2026 and got 47 unique non-sponsored listings with a price; 25 are wall chargers under Rs. 2,000 and all 25 are seated here. Every one of them is rated at either 45W or 65W, and they run from Rs. 329 to Rs. 1,899 - a 5.8 times spread across two figures that differ by twenty watts. One pair makes the point: the same seller lists a 45W adapter at Rs. 377 and its 65W at Rs. 378, both claiming 81 per cent off a stated Rs. 1,999. That Rs. 1,999 figure appears on seven separate listings priced from Rs. 377 to Rs. 1,899, producing badges from 81 per cent down to five. What does move with price is the port count - single-port bricks from Rs. 329, dual-port from Rs. 660, triple-port from Rs. 1,218 - and whether a recognised brand stands behind the box. The best-evidenced listing in the read is not the dearest: it is an unbranded 65W combo at Rs. 649 with 6,813 reviews at 4.4.
We read 47 Croma audio listings on August 9, 2026 from Croma's own product API - true wireless earbuds, headphones and neckbands - and sorted them by what you actually pay. Eight of them cost exactly Rs. 1,799: a wired Sony earphone, Apple's wired EarPods, three OnePlus rows and three realme rows. Their discount badges are 10 per cent or 36 per cent and nothing in between, because Apple and OnePlus claim list prices around Rs. 2,000 while realme claims Rs. 2,799. Two more listings sit at exactly Rs. 899 with badges of 31 and 73. The retailer's own label prints the most modest claims on the shelf and also holds its lowest score, 2.8 from 17 votes. Croma lists the same Sony WI-C100 neckband twice, at Rs. 1,399 and Rs. 1,599, with separate rating pools of 27 and 60 votes. And the evidence runs out entirely at the top: the four dearest listings here carry ten ratings between them, while the largest sample anywhere in the read is 142. Twenty-five picks, from Rs. 349 to Rs. 37,990.
