We read AJIO's own jewellery set, anklet and ethnic jewellery results on 1 October 2026 - 116 listings. On twenty of them the stated MRP is the selling price multiplied by exactly ten, and all twenty show a 90% badge: Rs. 419 against Rs. 4,193, Rs. 215 against Rs. 2,153, Rs. 209 against Rs. 2,089. Five Lucky Jewellery listings run the same shape at exactly 5.00x. And not one of the 116 publishes a star rating or a review count, so the badge is the only comparative number the shelf offers. The flattest figures on the page belong to AJIO's own YOUSTA label: Rs. 119 against Rs. 149, a 20% badge.
We searched one word - bangles - on four Indian shops on 1 October 2026 and read everything that came back: 40 results on Amazon, 32 on Myntra, 43 on AJIO, 39 on Tata CLiQ. The median result costs Rs. 299 on Amazon and Rs. 3,499 on Tata CLiQ, because 28 of Tata CLiQ's 39 are real gold and silver - a Rs. 190,439 22k bracelet comes back on the same page as a Rs. 165 alloy bangle. Inside that one shelf the badges split exactly on material: fine jewellery discounts a median 10%, the plated alloy beside it discounts 79%. And the evidence splits too - AJIO published no rating at all on any of its 43 results, while Tata CLiQ's median rating count is 2 and Amazon's is 92.
We read AJIO's and Myntra's jewellery shelves on the same morning, 29 September 2026 - 147 listings against 160 - and compared them where they actually overlap. Two products carry the same brand, the same description and the identical stated MRP on both shelves, and Myntra is cheaper on both: an NVR anklet set at Rs. 267 against Rs. 500, and a GIVA anklet at Rs. 779 against Rs. 1,033. At shelf level it reverses - AJIO's median is Rs. 363 against Rs. 431, with 107 of its 147 listings under Rs. 500. Across the eight brands both shops stock, five are cheaper on Myntra and two on AJIO. The one unambiguous difference: AJIO published a rating on none of its 147 listings; Myntra on 110 of 160.
We read Myntra's jewellery, bangle, anklet, earring and necklace shelves on 29 September 2026 - 160 distinct listings - and sorted them by how big a discount they advertise. The eleven listings offering 5% off or less have a median price of Rs. 699. The nineteen offering 85% or more have a median price of Rs. 314. The full-price half of this shelf costs 2.2 times the deep-discount half, because the badge is computed against a stated MRP rather than against the money. The same split runs through the evidence: the 110 listings that publish a rating show a median 73.5% badge at Rs. 413, while the 50 that publish none show 52.5% at Rs. 499. 155 of the 160 sell under Rs. 1,000, at a median stated MRP of 3.14 times the price.
We read AJIO's earring, necklace and jewellery-set listings on 20 September 2026. A hundred and four returned a selling price and a stated MRP; 22 are seated here, from Rs. 95 to Rs. 8,670. The finding is arithmetic, and you can check it: on 28 of the 104 listings the stated MRP is an exact round multiple of the selling price - 2.00, 5.00, 6.25, 6.67, 8.33 and 10.00 times, which are exactly 50, 80, 84, 85, 88 and 90 per cent off. Lucky Jewellery states exactly five times on all four of its listings, including Rs. 8,670 against a stated Rs. 43,348. Oomph's studs are Rs. 239 against Rs. 2,390. At the other end, RHEA states 1.11 times and Biba exactly two. And AJIO publishes no rating or rating count on any of the 104.
We read seventy-one fashion-jewellery listings on myntra.com on 14 September 2026 and seated twenty-four. Sixty-seven of the seventy-one sell under Rs. 1,000 and forty-two under Rs. 500, median Rs. 451 — while the MRPs printed above them run Rs. 299 to Rs. 7,860. Forty-three print a list price at least three times the price; twenty-one at least five times. The page's central pair: a Rs. 245 stud badged 84% off sits five rupees from a Rs. 250 stud badged 16% off, and the 16% tile has 381 ratings to the other's 27. Two products are listed twice with separate review pools — one earring at Rs. 107 with 3,028 ratings on one tile and 588 on the other. All of it is plated costume jewellery; none of it is hallmarked.
We pulled AJIO's jewellery, earring and necklace listings on 30 August 2026 — 91 of them, every one with a price, a stated MRP and an image, and not one with a rating. Prices run Rs. 49 to Rs. 3,460 with a median of Rs. 233, and the badges run 11 to 90 per cent with a median of 80. The pattern in those badges is the useful part: MAHI claims a median 90 per cent, Oomph 88 and Designs & You 85, all marketplace labels with nothing outside the listing anchoring their MRPs. YOUSTA, which is AJIO's own in-house label, discounts a median 50 per cent with one listing at 11, and Palmonas, which sells on its own site, sits at 60 to 66. Everything here is plated brass or stainless steel, as the listing titles state. Nothing is gold.
We read 139 Tata CLiQ jewellery listings on August 11, 2026 from the retailer's own listing data across three searches, and seated 25. On this wall the discount is set by the metal, not by a sale. Thirty rows contain karat gold or platinum and twenty-nine of them are badged between 2 and 15 per cent off, because gold is sold by weight against a live commodity rate no retailer controls. Sterling silver runs from 7 per cent to 80. Plated alloy and fashion pieces reach 86. The one gold row badged above 15 per cent is a 9K lab-grown diamond stud at 34 per cent - the lowest gold content in the read, which is the exception confirming the rule. A nine per cent badge on a Rs. 3.1 lakh necklace saves Rs. 31,058; an 86 per cent badge on a Rs. 267 stud saves Rs. 1,682. Thirteen listings from one jeweller carry exactly ten per cent off, from Rs. 10,530 to Rs. 3,89,163. Only 54 of 139 rows carry a rating and the largest sample is 82 votes. Twenty-five picks.
We read 113 Myntra jewellery listings on August 11, 2026 from the retailer's own listing data across five listing pages and seated 22. The discount here is not measuring generosity, it is measuring the material. All twenty-four hallmarked 9KT rows in the read sat in a 14 to 16 per cent band and were priced by stated gram weight, from Rs. 14,623 to Rs. 21,943 - and the lightest pair at 1.06g costs more than the heaviest at 1.7g, because the diamonds rather than the metal are doing the pricing. The one 925 sterling silver listing sat at 24 per cent. Everything plated ran from 44 to 89 per cent, because plated brass has no published metal rate underneath it and a stated MRP of Rs. 2,099 for thread work is a number the seller chose. Watch the badge narrow to the sixties the moment an MRP becomes credible. Only sixteen of the 113 rows carry a hundred or more ratings, and the largest crowd - 4,861 votes - sits on a Rs. 185 pair of rakhis. Twenty-two picks.
