Reconnect is the retailer's own label, which means the company setting the selling price also sets the reference price it is discounted from — and its twelve listings run at a median 63.5% off against 50% for the branded products in the same pull, with ten of its twelve stated MRPs ending in 99. The gap closes in exactly one place. The single Reconnect product that sits in a comparison shop window, a 32-inch television surrounded by five other 32- and 43-inch sets, carries a 42% badge — below the 52% median of that branded group and twenty-one points below Reconnect's own. Split by what is actually being sold, the shelf falls into two halves that behave nothing like each other.
