The delivery date on a Flipkart listing reads like a promise from Flipkart. Its own shipping page says otherwise: the estimate belongs to the seller, and it moves with that seller's stock and distance from you — which is why two sellers of the same product quote different dates, and why some sellers decline your area “entirely at their discretion”. The stock tag matters just as much: In Stock is 2–6 business days where standard delivery runs, but 1 to 2 weeks by Registered Post where it does not. Add a Rs. 50,000 cash-only COD ceiling and no international delivery, and the pin code becomes the only field that answers any of it.

We read 68 television listings from Amazon India's own search results on 7 September 2026, across 24 to 55 inches. Divide each band's median by its diagonal and the shelf stops looking like a ladder: a 24-inch costs about Rs. 254 an inch, a 55-inch about Rs. 799 — 3.15 times as much. The steepest single step is 32 to 43 inches, about Rs. 15,000 at the median, more than a whole 32-inch television, because that is where 4K replaces HD. Discount depth runs the other way to evidence: the two 72% badges sit on listings with 131 and 196 ratings, while the best-rated set here — a Samsung 32-inch at 4.2 from 20,161 — is 11% off. Thirteen rating counts are shared across listings of different screen sizes.

We read both television shelves on the same afternoon, 7 September 2026 — 68 listings on Amazon, 86 on Croma — and neither shop wins. Croma's median is 45% above Amazon's at 32 inches, within 5% at 43, Rs. 2,000 below Amazon at 50, and 18% above at 55. The headline gap at the small end is not really about price: UNICRON, VW and Uniboom fill Amazon's 32-inch band and Croma stocks none of them. Compare the seven brands both actually sell and Samsung's 32-inch is Rs. 2,000 cheaper at Croma while Xiaomi's is identical to the rupee. At 55 inches, though, Croma is genuinely dearer — on LG, Xiaomi and Samsung alike.

We read Vijay Sales' own payment and refund terms on 7 September 2026. The published list of ways to pay is credit cards, debit cards and net banking — UPI appears nowhere in the document, though a terms page is not a live checkout. Cards must be Indian: orders on a card with an international billing address may be cancelled. Cash on delivery is capped at Rs. 50,000 and runs only in Mumbai, Pune, Gujarat and Delhi, collected between 11am and 6pm at your billing address. Three clauses decide what happens when things go wrong: a mispriced order can be cancelled rather than honoured, refunds are stated at 7 to 20 working days, and risk of loss passes to you when the goods reach the carrier — not your door.

Vijay Sales runs a card-less loyalty programme called MYVS Rewards, and its own published terms set the rate at 0.75% of the final purchase amount, paid as points worth Rs. 1 each. The rule that decides whether it is worth anything to you is the redemption one: points can be spent only at a Vijay Sales outlet, and the terms say plainly that they cannot be redeemed online at vijaysales.com. Add a roughly fortnight-long wait before new points become usable, a two-year expiry, and a clawback that comes out of your refund if you return a product whose points you have already spent.

Vijay Sales gives free delivery on everything it sells online — but only to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Pune, Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, by city limits and pin code. The rule that catches people out is the return one: there is no published days-long window. The terms ask you to check the product and accessories before accepting delivery and state that after acceptance, returns and refund requests will not be entertained. Refunds, where due, run 10–15 working days. And split AC installation is charged separately, paid to the manufacturer's service centre, at least four business days after delivery.

Vijay Sales publishes two gift cards with very different terms. The physical Gift Card is valid 12 months, works in stores and carries its unspent balance forward; the E-Gift Card is valid 30 days, works online, is one time redeemable, and its unspent balance “will not be adjusted in any transaction”. Vijay Sales' exchange FAQ, read on 3 September 2026, is direct about the point of no return: “once the old device has been picked up from you, we will not be able to return or refund it”, because it has gone to a third-party liquidation partner. The new device is delivered before the old one is collected, which is the only window to change your mind. A failed condition check cancels the exchange and the trade-in bonus is collected back. Screens must be free of scratches, cracks and dead pixels, tempered glass comes off first, and a phone that runs only on the charger is refused outright. One device per purchase, same category, same pickup and delivery address. VS+ Extended Warranty, operated by OnsiteGo, runs up to 4 extra years (1 for phones), caps at 5 years with the manufacturer's, allows unlimited repairs and is cancellable within 30 days if unclaimed — but excludes drops, liquid, power surges and wear and tear.

We read Croma's own results for smart watch, smartwatch and fitness band on 2 September 2026 — two pages each, no filters, no account — and got 80 distinct listings from Rs. 999 to Rs. 85,490. Sorted by price the shelf has a hole in it: the most expensive budget watch is Rs. 7,999 and the cheapest Apple is Rs. 17,994, with nothing in between. That gap separates two completely different pricing regimes. Apple is 38 of the 80 listings — nearly half the shelf — and its discount runs 2 to 15 per cent with a median of 4, twelve listings sitting at exactly 4. Noise (17 listings) runs 25 to 83 per cent, boAt 65 to 77, GOBOULT 69 to 76. The badge identifies the brand, not the bargain. Ratings cannot break the tie either: only 37 of 80 listings carry one and the largest count on the whole shelf is 31. Below: every brand grouped, everything under Rs. 3,000, the thin Rs. 3,000-8,000 band, and the Apple half priced out.

We read both smartwatch shelves on the morning of 2 September 2026 — Amazon.in's popularity-sorted results for three queries (52 watches after dropping two resistance bands the fitness-band query returned) and Croma's results for the same terms (80 listings). Amazon's median is Rs. 2,249 at 52 per cent off with 62 per cent of the shelf under Rs. 3,000; Croma's is Rs. 21,492 at 15 per cent off. Nearly all of that 9.6x gap is one brand: Croma lists 38 Apple Watch variants from Rs. 17,994 to Rs. 85,490, and Amazon's results returned none. On the five brands both stock, Croma was actually cheaper at the floor on three — noise at Rs. 999, GOBOULT at Rs. 1,199, Samsung at Rs. 4,799. The difference that should decide it is evidence: Amazon's most-reviewed listing carries 134,959 ratings and ten clear 10,000, while only 37 of Croma's 80 listings show a rating count at all and the largest on the shelf is 31.

Forty-eight listings read from reliancedigital.in's own search results on 2 September 2026 — twelve each of air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators and washing machines — with every price, MRP and discount as Reliance Digital displays them. The four shelves behave nothing alike. Every split AC is between Rs. 24,990 and Rs. 48,990 and none is under 22 per cent off, with two LG 1.5-tonners at 51 and 56 per cent. Televisions run from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 53,490, and the deepest badges belong to Foxsky, Soyer and VYN while Samsung's 55-inch is 19 per cent off. Refrigerators span Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 1,17,990 — and two of the twelve results are Samsung door panels rather than fridges. Washing machines are the flattest shelf in the store, a 23 per cent median, including an IFB front loader marked down by 1 per cent.

Croma's cancellation-and-return page, read on 2 September 2026, opens by ruling out the thing most shoppers assume: it “offers a replacement-only policy”, and replacement applies within the return window “only for defective or damaged products”. Change of mind appears under Exclusions as Buyer's Remorse. A refund is paid in two named situations — the wrong product was delivered, or a replacement is owed and the model is out of stock. The window is seven days for all 26 categories Croma lists, with a 48-hour clock for a damaged phone or tablet. Damage must be reported before the product is used or activated; TVs and soundbars must not be opened by the customer before installation; store purchases cannot be claimed for scratches after handover; software problems are never a replacement; and warranty needs brand-authorised installation within 7 days. Refunds are processed in 2 working days and land in 5 to 7.

Croma's television listings on 1 September 2026 ran from Rs. 9,990 to Rs. 81,990 across 26 sets, and the size bands overlap so heavily that shopping by diagonal gets the wrong answer. The cheapest 55-inch on the shelf, Croma's own 4-Star QLED at Rs. 32,990, costs Rs. 15,000 less than the dearest 43-inch, a Sony BRAVIA 2 II at Rs. 47,990. Inside the 43-inch band alone the spread is 2.4 times — Rs. 19,990 for a Croma Full HD LED up to that Rs. 47,990 Sony — and what separates them is the panel line printed on the listing, not the size. Croma's own label holds 12 of the 26 listings and is the price floor in three of four size bands; LG discounts hardest among the national brands at a 35 per cent median. Review counts are in single figures on most listings, so they will not rank these sets for you.

We read both retailers' tablet listings on 1 September 2026 — 16 on Croma, 14 on Reliance Digital — and the difference is which shelf exists at your budget rather than who undercuts whom. Reliance Digital starts at Rs. 11,999 and puts six of its fourteen listings under Rs. 20,000; Croma starts at Rs. 19,999 and puts exactly one there, with a median listing of Rs. 45,499 against Reliance Digital's Rs. 21,249. The two stores share five brands but almost no identical variants, so a straight price table is not possible honestly: the nearest match, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, is Rs. 46,999 at Croma with 5G and Rs. 41,999 at Reliance Digital without it. At the top end Croma lists the A16 iPad at Rs. 47,900 while Reliance Digital lists the iPad Air M3 from Rs. 55,691 — different machines, not different prices for one.
