The shelf immediately made sense. SUGAR runs four lip lines at four tiers: SUGAR POP from Rs. 115, SUGAR Play at Rs. 199-249, the core SUGAR range from Rs. 199 to Rs. 899, and SUGAR Mettle at Rs. 1,049-1,249. Every Play product we read was discounted between 50% and 58%. Fifty of the ninety listings carried a discount of exactly zero, and almost all of them were core-range flagships or Mettle - Matte As Hell at Rs. 899, Mousse Muse at Rs. 599, both Mettle lipsticks at full price. Waiting for those to go on sale does not work. The one genuine gap we found: the same Mousse Muse cream sits at Rs. 599 on its shade-picker listing and Rs. 249 on three single-shade ones. We read 60 in-stock creatine, mass gainer, pre-workout and BCAA listings from MuscleBlaze's own category responses on July 31, 2026, and found the flavour-badge trick performed more cleanly than on any shelf we have audited. The 6.6 lb Super Gainer XXL sells at Rs. 3,049 in banana — 29% off a stated Rs. 4,299 — and at Rs. 3,049 in chocolate, 8% off a stated Rs. 3,299. Identical powder, identical price, a thousand rupees of declared-MRP spread manufacturing the badges. The 11 lb repeats it at Rs. 4,709 (27% vs 4%), WrathX pre-workout at Rs. 1,499 (20% vs 3%), PRE 200 at Rs. 639 (15% vs 4%). Meanwhile the honest numbers hide in plain sight: the size ladders price like commodities should (Rs. 504 down to Rs. 428 a pound as gainer jars grow), and on the creatine shelf — 4.5 from 19,436 ratings, the biggest crowd we have seen — the flavoured jars simply contain more powder than unflavoured ones at the same price: 320 g vs 250 g at Rs. 999.

The bath shelf runs at a flat Rs. 1.25 per millilitre across every bottle, so the one-bottle and two-bottle systems cost the same. And the sunscreen shelf delivers the month's tidiest tell: 50 ml at Rs. 150, the twin-pack at Rs. 300, the 100 ml at Rs. 299 — the store's entire bulk discount is one rupee. The control group of the month: flat, tidy, strategy-proof.

We read 57 in-stock listings from HealthKart's own category responses the same day, across the weight-management shelves plus the adjacent whey protein and health-food categories, and measured the distribution rather than the maximum. The median discount was 15% and the mean 18.3%. Twelve listings beat 35%, but seven of those were one product in seven flavours — so only six of 33 distinct product families cleared the banner's figure. Fifteen listings sat at 3% or less and eight at exactly 0%. The zero group is where all the evidence is: a whey rated 4.4 by 4,000 people, another 4.4 by 3,696, a third 4.3 by 937 — all at exactly MRP. Meanwhile the two deepest badges, 56% and 55%, sit on products rated by 120 people and seven. Divide by the weight in the name and the badges invert: four pack sizes of one whey run 0%, 11%, 11% and 12% off at Rs. 4,340, 4,595, 4,899 and 5,352 a kilo.

The badge only behaves on pack size: all three 8.8 lb flavours share the same 22%. Overall 23 of 71 listings sat at zero, the median was 10%, and the cheapest protein per kilo is unflavoured raw whey at Rs. 3,325.

We read 147 in-stock Dot & Key listings from the brand's own product data on July 30, 2026, and checked every compare-at price against every selling price. 146 match exactly. One listing in the whole read is genuinely marked down — a shower gel at Rs. 319 against a stated Rs. 399. What this shelf has instead of discounts is tiers: Rs. 395 carries ten listings, Rs. 495 nine, Rs. 595 eight, Rs. 249 eight, Rs. 599 seven. Eight of the twelve sunscreens cost exactly Rs. 595; five of the eight serums cost Rs. 599; four of the five lip balms cost Rs. 249, all stating SPF 50+. Inside a tier the price is silent, so we argued every pick on the formula. The sharpest finding is the pack maths: of nineteen pack-of-2 listings, fourteen cost exactly twice the single — Rs. 1,190 for two Rs. 595 sunscreens, Rs. 1,390 for two Rs. 695 serums. The only pack that beats its single does so because the tube is smaller. The discount lives at the cart: flat 15% sitewide, flat 25% on combos, extra 5% prepaid.

We read 369 in-stock Beardo listings from the brand's own product data on July 30, 2026 and grouped them by product name rather than by discount. Fourteen products turned out to have two or three separate live listings at different prices. The trimmers are where the stated MRPs behave, carrying the shelf's smallest badges on figures the category supports.

We read 584 in-stock Mamaearth listings from the brand's own product data on July 30, 2026. Not one of them publishes an MRP, and the homepage was carrying a Flash Sale banner — so with no percentages to compare, we divided every price by the size stated in the listing's own title. The onion shampoo alone exists at nine sizes, and the ladder runs backwards: 180 ml at Rs. 0.98 a millilitre, 250 ml at Rs. 1.24, 400 ml at Rs. 1.33, 650 ml at Rs. 1.33 and a full litre at Rs. 1.24. The small bottle is the cheapest way to buy it — 27% better than the litre, 36% better than the 400 ml most people default to. The multi-packs are exact multiples, so they add nothing. Elsewhere the shelf goes flat: thirteen different 100 ml face washes all cost exactly Rs. 269. And in colour cosmetics the pattern inverts again, with the 18 ml foundation cheaper per millilitre than the 30 ml, and a Rs. 899 lipstick cheaper per gram than a Rs. 349 mini.

We read HealthKart's own creatine, pre-workout and carbohydrate listings on July 30, 2026 and divided every price by the pack size stated in the listing's own title. Creatine monohydrate is a single molecule, manufactured to one specification and dosed at three to five grams a day whoever sells it — so the rate is the whole answer. We read 51 in-stock MuscleBlaze gear listings — shakers, bottles, gym bags and backpacks — from the brand's own category data on July 30, 2026, and every single one carried a rating with a real review count. So we ranked the shelf by sample size instead of by discount. The Cyclone shaker at Rs. 299 carries 4.2 from 3,049 ratings, twelve times the next-largest sample on the shelf. The most expensive shaker, the ARC steel at Rs. 1,849, carries 3.5 from three. Price and evidence run in opposite directions. Because the rating attaches to the model rather than the colourway, duplicate listings are easy to spot: the Stainless Steel Shaker sells at Rs. 799, Rs. 799 and Rs. 749 across three colourways with badges of 46%, 43% and 46%, all showing 4.2 from 83 — and the 45-litre Tactical Backpack is Rs. 2,599 in black against Rs. 2,999 in camo, both showing 4.7 from 83.

We read MuscleBlaze's own category listings on July 29, 2026 across fourteen category paths and collected 122 in-stock discounted products, each with a real rating and rating count attached. Grouped by shelf, the discount turns out to follow the category rather than the product: gear — bottles, shakers, bags — runs at a median 43% off across 51 products, with twenty-nine of them at 40% or deeper, while the ayurveda shelf runs at 16.5% and food at 13%. Not one of the 71 non-gear products reaches 40%. The deepest badge in the whole read is 63% on a plastic gallon jug; the shallowest is 3% on a jar of plain peanut butter. Underneath the badges the real saving is the pack size, which carries no badge at all: High Protein Oats cost Rs. 748 per kilo in the 400 g box and Rs. 550 in the 2 kg, and ashwagandha costs Rs. 12.63 a capsule in the 30-count against Rs. 9.98 in the 60. We read HealthKart's own category listings on July 29, 2026 across ten paths — multivitamins, biotin, collagen, fish oil, vitamin D, calcium, antioxidants, glutathione, DHT blockers and alpha lipoic acid — and collected 195 in-stock discounted products with real ratings and counts attached. On a supplement shelf the badge is close to useless, because pack sizes vary so widely that the percentage and the price per unit routinely disagree. Two Now vitamin D bottles carry an identical 34% badge and differ by 43% per softgel. Two Vaamveda calcium listings state the same Rs. 999 MRP for one box and for two, producing badges of 71% and 50% that rank the worse buy higher. A glutathione ladder runs Rs. 5.55, Rs. 6.58 and Rs. 9.15 a capsule. And two biotins stating an identical 10,000 mcg cost Rs. 3.99 and Rs. 13.20 a tablet, with the dearer one carrying the smaller badge. Twenty-one picks, divided out. Nothing here is medical advice.

We read Beardo's own product feed on July 29, 2026 — the whole catalogue, 400 in-stock products of which 349 were carrying a discount — and counted the prices rather than the discounts. Seventy of those 349 sell at exactly Rs. 999, by far the most common price in the shop, and between them they carry forty different reference prices from Rs. 1,047 to Rs. 3,397. That produces badges of anywhere from 5% to 71% on one identical selling price: the same Rs. 999 appears at the top of this page under a 71% badge and at the bottom under a 5% one. The repetition goes further. A single combo name, Best Day Perfumes Combo, appears as ten separate listings at Rs. 999 under four different MRPs, and Best Seller Perfumes Combo appears eleven times under four more — so which badge you see depends only on which listing you happened to open. Twenty-one picks, priced by the millilitre and the bottle instead.

We read Nykaa's own listing data on July 29, 2026 across lipstick, foundation, mascara, kajal and compact powder and collected 86 in-stock discounted products, every one carrying a real rating and a real rating count. The counts run from 64 to 4,462,037 — a spread of about seventy thousand to one — while every score in the sample sits between 4.0 and 4.5, and the site displays both at the same size in the same colour. So the star cannot separate two products and the count has to. There is a complication with the count as well: five pairs in our 86 share an identical price, MRP, score and rating figure across two separately-titled listings, including two Maybelline Sky High mascaras at 80,434 apiece where one is waterproof and one is not. A count on this site is a verdict on a product line, not on the listing you are reading. What is left to choose on is the price and what the formula actually does. Twenty-one picks, every count printed.

We read Nykaa's own search response on July 29, 2026 across six bath-and-body searches — body wash, body lotion, soap, body scrub, hand wash and body butter — and collected 107 in-stock discounted listings. Two things came out of it. First, the rate belongs to the brand rather than to the product: all seven Kimirica listings sat at exactly 25% off, all six Sol de Janeiro at exactly 20%, and all four CeraVe at exactly 10%, so waiting for a better price on any single item from those brands is pointless. Second, the depth tracks what the label commits to. Fragrance runs deep — Wanderlust at a median 45%, Dove up to 50% — while anything printing a concentration barely moves: 4% lactic acid at 5% off, 1% salicylic acid at 7%, ceramides at 10%. Popularity does not explain it: a Cetaphil lotion with 210,764 ratings sits at 12% while a house-brand wash with over a million sits at 45%. Twenty-one picks, each carrying its real rating count.
